From a low populated server in the match.
For the times when you have no coverage, this will always happen. It happens regularly on the majority of servers – prime time comes around, and you have ground to make up.
Push your own borderland against fully upgraded hills/garrison/etc.
Push EB near spawn-side towers.
Push EB Keep.
Push EB far spawn-side towers.
Upgrade and hold.
NOW you can have an almost even fight.
Anet just added an additional (and continually present) thing to the checklist: try to take down the buff from the dominant server, or EVERYTHING on the list will be harder.
One practical side effect that I’m seeing now that this is live: the #2 server would rather go up against the #3 server than face the #1 server with +150 to stats.
I will bet my account that this will be, if not modified, catastrophic to morale.
They give outmanned buff to make you go out and fight without worrying about repairs, but at the same time they make your zergy opponent stronger with the bloodlust buff so that you can’t even have a fight to start with.
Only monkeys can understand Anet way of thinking.
Yes Kincaidia, is hopeless fight vs kaineng, because their are JUST too much, and now buffed the majority of time. Our server is fighting for the second place (SF) and i feel sorry for GoM. In pasts match GoM has a great number of players, more than us. Now nobody of GoM enter in wvw.
Seems like Arenanet consider is players work to motivate players to play wvw to fight back, but no, is not. Is arenanet who need to motivate by game mechanics and maybe rewards (no stats rewards) to their players to play wvw.

I agree w/ the sentiment that this happens all the time due to differential in coverage but if 2 servers are prime time NA, fighting over 3 BL, and one server is prime time Oceanic with no resistance, it’s pretty much made up who will win the match up. The 24/7 scoring is ridiculous and should be cahnged.
As for the update, I was far against it before, but I do see incentives for specific players such as what is being popularly posted, roaming. Great stuff for those looking for that kind of fight, but the buffs are OP. Like the poster above said:
“They give outmanned buff to make you go out and fight without worrying about repairs, but at the same time they make your zergy opponent stronger with the bloodlust buff so that you can’t even have a fight to start with.”
Not only that, the buff gives points per spike, per buff. The bigger zerg w/ 3 buffs obviously gets the advantage on that, leading to a snowball effect. If anything, the spike buff should go to the outnumbered buff. Repair costs, ok cool, but you also have to go against a zerg that is buffed.
But it’s numbers they look at. They say forums aren’t even close to a representation of the game, so that made it much easier to skip out on reset night. Want a response from them to change the game back, don’t play. Do something else. Especially if you’re in a low pop server, go down teq or something. Don’t get frustrated by getting beat by numbers instead of skill, let the other servers get bored so they do something else too and let them see what numbers they’re tallying.
BOOM. Well played.
@Radiology, that’s what happened. I logged in, went to a borderland, saw 15+ people camping at the 3 closest Bloodlust objects, all with +150, and said, “Screw that”. And I went and sanded a bathroom wall because that was more satisfying.
It will be even harder than it was previously to gather enough momentum to push back. Log in, look at orb icons, “oh, we’re getting destroyed. Ain’t nobody got time for that”. -click- logout.
I am trying to “roaming” but is pretty frustrating be outnumbered in small fight 1v2, 2v5, and so on vs a enemy with 150 more stats. I play wvw only and i feel this buff is not minor. 150 to all stats is just too much.
I am just going to trololo, no more wvw mechanics for me, no more capture or siege keeps, no more ruins points or camp roaming. I dont care, i am just to play for trololo, for the lulz. I am going to do what i want to do, no what arenanet want.
Just that.
Yup, this is definitely what i wanted to see in wvw! (I’m GoM btw, y’know the non-existent server in this matchup) At least we managed to grab our bloodlust back from kain, not that it will last very long T.T
Edit: Just lost Bloodlust again.

Wow, haven’t seen Kain pull 660ppt since War Machine and Cryptic Omen ruled the server there. Of course, we pulled 695’s in those days…
Obviously this has nothing to do with the buff. Kaineng was doing this to you guys over the weekend as well. You have a rank 14 server going against a rank 19 and 21. It would be like Blackgate going against Dragonbrand and Maguuma. Kaineng also barely broke 100k last week while Dragonbrand almost hit 400k.
Although this seems like another Orbs of Power (OP) situation, it’s more of a place for sPvPers to hang out other than kitten island.

They didn’t have us capped this badly this week. This is brand new stemming directly from the recent patch.

You are correct that Kain was dominating before the patch, however, it wasn’t NEARLY this bad.
Man, that PPT reminds me of our last run-ins with Kaineng. I haven’t hit WvW since the patch went live (been workin on World Boss murders), but considering the current number of GoMnomberries, I’d have to honestly say that could be both factors combining into one big nastiness.
Other 80s: Any but Warrior
Kaineng, Sorrows Furnace, Gate of Madness thats a horrible match-up anyway its a sure victory for Kaineng for sure sorry SF and GM u guys just dont have the coverage to compete with them
150 all stats is too much I think. It’s like 2 celestial ascen/legen 2 handed weapons worth of stats…
Half of this would have been cool. 150 is overkill.
Yeah that’s a matchup that simply never should have happened. We’re in a similar situation over on HoD where we’re fighting DH for second place against a larger IoJ force. Anet’s terrible matchup system is bad enough, but adding the bloodlust buff just makes it way worse.
Our guild group is used to fighting larger numbers; fighting 2-1 is expected. But fighting 2-1 where they ALSO get 100-150 more stats? Not even interested in playing the game at that point.

Over the weekend and even Monday SF was semi able to hold our own during our prime times. Neither SF or GoM stood a chance this week, that’s true, but we could at least go out and have fun for a few hours every night. That’s a thing of the past now.

I remember 2 weeks ago when it was HoD and SF vs IoJ, sorry to hear you guys get to face that 100% coverage steamroller again :S
They had a break steamrolling DR and ET last week, so its ok.
On a serious note, the orbs don’t seem to be as important as just the absurd matching system. Its basically whoever has people in off hours, 3x more people on the field etc.
And as long as this issue is not addressed, no amount of buffs will be able to help.

Don’t worry. Once the league starts, we will be matched up against these kinds of servers on purpose (we don’t be able to blame the match making system anymore).
Wouldn’t League system still need some sort of matchmaking system?
As to who plays who? I guess the system is going to be DevonLD

Actually the impact of the Bloodlust buffs is sigificant. I’m from Kaineng. Although we were winning, SF and GoM were holding their own. Now after the patch, our server lead has widen significantly. There is a psychology disadvantage when your opponent see’s their enemy has all 3 buffs, some players give up and the dominating servers continues to faceroll the remainder players. It’s simply unfair advantage with the buffs. And that’s why I refuse to play even if I was the beneficiary of the buffs. I get no pleasure from winning with an unfair advantage. The strong shouldn’t be made stronger, it’s no way to promote competition. The power orbs were removed because the previous dev had come to that realization. I can’t believe we are revisiting the same issue once again.
Arenanet is quickly running this game into the ground from a WVW perspective. I’m on GoM, and people keep transferring away. We will be last place very soon. As has been said, it’s demoralizing, people see 3x BL against us and just skip WVW. It’s the dumbest idea ever.
There are things that could be done to spread the population out amongst servers, but nothing is being done. This is only going to get worse, and numbers are going to continue fall as more people quit.
PS – this nonsense mindset that some dev said, “the forums make up a small minority of players” is true, but means NOTHING. Small minority meaning maybe 5% of the user base posts, which means nothing other than just something dumb to say. If they think that 95% aren’t posting because they are happy, you’re just plain wrong. Take the time to talk to players, there is not one person on my server, GoM, that does WVW that is happy with how things are.

Anet won’t poll random players, although with in-game mail system it would be possible. Actively soliciting feedback from a truly random sample is not their style.

From what I have heard, Anet devs who regularly play WvW, do so exclusively on Blackgate or one of the other two T1 servers. (Repeated threads from T1 servers mentioning Anet devs playing there) I don’t think devs even know what it is like to play on anything less than a T1 server.
Bloodlust is fun when you outnumber the other 90% of worlds. Hey look at our five man, we can wipe your T12 puny 20 man groups with impunity.
I still can’t get over Mr. Carter’s “WvW is not meant to be fair” remark.
If that’s the case, why not make spvp teams world based?

I find it hard to dissagree with this, the Devs should be forced to spend one month on any one of the lowest 3 servers while the matchups are still rediculous, they would get a much better understanding of how bad some of these ideas are when confronted with a server they have zero chance of defeating let alone competeing with.

Yep, just remember the devs’ first comments on this forum about “coverage issues” when it was first came up 1 year ago.
“Taking empty towers late night is fun”
and those people are still around ruining the wvw for everyone to make people do the leap from wvw to spvp. A way to “enforce” the e-sport, which never gonna happen.
because of the patch, old players who were at hiatus went online; so the influx of players doing wvw stuff. so the results are as they are, server with more coverage and players will win. however, because servers with more people will certainly camp those bloodlust areas, it leaves little guess work that the server with smaller player base will get pawned more easily since they can’t defend themselves better now.

One thing this update did was make me play alot more PvE, i seriously dread getting a guild call to head to our BL, in fact i tend to just log off for 30 mins and go back to PvE.
I used to WvW 6 hours a day, now i don’t even bother hitting “B” anymore.
Sounds more like Tequatl’s fault than the borderland buff.

Well I mean, I saw an Anet dev yesterday on our server..
He hid behind my guild, then died and left.
Garbage at every profession 2015
I play on Kain, and for the record, NA prime “was” pretty evenly matched, in fact SF probably outnumbers Kain during NA prime, but our oceanic presence is the only reason why we are pulling away in points (it’s been a very long time since that has been true).
After a whole night of fighting, I realized, the buff didn’t make much difference to me. People still died the way they normally do, in fact people with the buff actually died faster?! (maybe they were overconfident with the extra stats and forgot they still need to use heal?). I found that solo roamers (the very few I met) were very willing to engage me whether because I’m weak or because they have the buff, I can’t really say. But I definitely noticed a drop in solo roamers and an increase to zerg play and 3-5 man teams. I primarily play during NA prime and during that time, we on Kain are actually behind in PPT to SF so coverage is not the issue during NA prime. Again, our night crew are the guys that gain the majority our points at the moment.

It’s only gonna get worse because someone (not sure who, but they matter more to Anet than us) feels there’s not enough variety.
Aren’t you thankful?

Killed WvW for me. Ill just farm champs and teq until i dont want to log in anymore. My main reason for playing these days was WvW

I’m afraid, if that’s true about them only playing on T1, is that their mindset is “if people want to WVW, they should move” is the solution. It’s not. If their game requires people to pay money, abandon friends and their server, to further kill the server they are leaving, to play their game, they are messed up in the head.
There are so many ways to force the servers to balance, but they won’t do it.
The Outmanned buff should be what the Bloodlust buff is.
Bloodlust is worthless as heck, from my perspective when you’re in a rank 20 vs. 18 vs 15 matchup (We’re 20.) I may be playing at the wrong times, but I’m not sure if we’ve even been able to keep Bloodlust for any fair amount of time.
Just to keep it in perspective, the score is 95,970 vs. 112,841 vs. 285,390. How do you even get an opportunity to grab the Ruins much less keep them?
It’s pretty easy to grab ruins. We did it with two people last night. You can do it with one person but you pretty much need zero opposition to do it that way.

The problem is people keep suggesting this, but it’s a bandaid to a greater problem of server balance. The server populations are so out of whack, yet nothing is being done about it. Nobody is going to transfer to a server to get an outnumbered buff.
