Issues have been raised repeatedly. (The one concerning lack of account bound wexp was moved from the general forum to this one earlier today, take that any way you’d like.)
What you can do, is what customers can always do:
Accept, tolerate or vote with your feet (or your wallet).
Unfortunately options 3 and 4 usually end up occurring so far in time from the real issue (because a lot of customers are tolerant) that the developer doesn’t have the awareness to make the connection between cause and effect.
Account bound WXP is coming I don’t know when.

on a 1-10 scale, I’d say my disappointment is about 8/10. I think the most glaring issues are the lack of account-bound WXP (despite being announced forever ago and formally announced 5 months ago) and no changes to the commander tag/commander system (despite having a Collaborative Development Initiative on the issue months ago as well).
Further, I think a more overarching and more pressing concern is the lack of developer transparency and communication. The WvW population currently has no estimation of when they can expect very serious game breaking bugs to be fixed. Instead, we are treated to unwanted commander pin changes, renaming of skill point buffs, and general carelessness on the part of ArenaNet. There have been months of concerns logged in the official forums that are still unresolved.
Is there anything we, as a concerned community seeing our game mode slowly die, can do to get some substantive feedback?

I was really hoping for a revised scoring system as I thought it was generally agreed that the points-per-tick system was lackluster.
Face it. Anet still has visions of fortune with their spvp e-sports lol. Just look at how much time the developers invest in spvp and the spvp forum. I count about 20 dev posts in the spvp forum for every dev post in the wvw forum. Get over the fact that wvw is a necessary evil to anet. I’d wager that they regret ever creating wvw. Make your choices in future games accordingly. ps. teso only has wvw as a pvp option.

I think the biggest problem is that most people don’t know how to play wvw… and many of those who do know, have no desire to play it.

Yeah well WvW also should not be about 50 massed players running around destroying everything in it’s path. Some sort of negative buff should be implemented to reduce huge zergs that destroy smaller servers.
I have been on both sides of zergs it isn’t much fun in either direction. It is a skill-less mindless waste of time. The out manned buff is also a pathetic joke. I can really see why people don’t like to WvW in such a bugged broken system. Also lets not forget about how stupid the match up system is, talking about broke.

ESO’s AvA is better than GW2’s WvW but ESO has floaty combat, horrible movement, and dated graphics. I’m basically waiting to see how games like Camelot Unchained and Gloria Victis develop because GW2’s WvW is fundamentally flawed and the devs don’t seem to care.

The graphics overall aren’t dated just character models.

ESO has poor character animation and the characters are boringly similar apart from being crude. But the general graphics quality is as good if not better and it does not have GW2’s awful overblown particle effects wiping out the screen in every fight.
One thing it does have is an economy that’s actually tied to guild ownership of resources and keeps. If your guild takes one of these, you get the right to set up a shop (there is no global AH). Lose the keep camp or whatever and you lose your trading right.
Zerg a tower, cap and move on? Never!
Just for guys talking about ESO. Which build you played latest? In 1.81 animations were better. Nad according to patch notes, they even improved them in later builds.
Movement is not so bad with current acceleration/deceleration setup.
Lets wait that one week and we will see.

I played in the last Beta on the EU server. I’ve not played previous beta. The animation had improved (compared looking at old youtube stuff) but it was still very South Park.
I don’t really care about that though – I’m more concerned with the game mechanics. Graphics stuff is easy to change.

Did the last patch actually fix the issues with the NW tower gates? I know the notes mention fixing the ability to teleport through it, but what about leap skills doing the same, and golems being unable to hit the gate?
It’s good that they are finally looking at issues like that, but that has been a known problem since release or just shortly after. Exploits that allow the capture of intact towers/keeps should not be allowed to exist for 18 months.

The seasons/tournament really just highlight and exacerbate the issues wvw has. Population/coverage has been a problem since release, and reward systems that encourage bandwagoning only make that worse. And the temporary spike in wvw population from achievement/reward chasers does nothing to help that in the long run, but it does make the lag issues even more of a problem. I don’t see the temp influx of pve’ers helping this tournament much at all, because many will go to EotM to get achievement progress.
This new transfer price layout could have helped the population issues for the tournament, if they had thrown out the pre-tournament sale pricing and implemented a reward system that does not reward/encourage bandwagoning. The players most likely to go for the free transfer offer, are already a free transfer server, and will only be moving to a higher ranked free transfer server. There is no reason or incentive to move to a server at the bottom of a league.
I know that a lot of us want more/better rewards for wvw, but these tournaments are not the way to go about that. Making the wvw rank chests more rewarding at higher ranks would be better than implementing tournaments that make the core problems worse.

-More options of things to buy with badges such as WXP, Tomes of Knowledge, etc.
-A guild buff for +X% WXP for X days.
-Guild buff for extra badges.
-A new siege type.
-Things from EOTM brought to the normal maps such as unique champions that sell and do different things.
-WvW related tonics.
-Bank and guild bank access in borderlands maps (without having to upgrade a keep).
There are plenty of other things I’ve thought about in the past but can’t remember right now.

Your sentiment might be very true during the first half year of a game’s lifetime, but certainly not almost two years later. New actual content that isn’t an overflow map is long overdue.

I do agree that the time put into EotM would have been better spent on something like an alternate set of WvW maps. Another set of matching borderlands to be used in turns with the existing maps. At least that would give a change of map each week. It could even have a different number of keeps/towers/camps, as long as the total PPT stayed the same.
However, I think the primary focus should be fixing the core problems, like coverage/population being the deciding factor in most matchups. Anet can’t really force players to spread out evenly among the servers, but they could alter the scoring system to make server stacking less effective. Give a bonus percentage to PPT at each tick based on the current wvw population (total of all 4 maps, averaged over the duration of the tick timer) of each server. Tweaking the amount of boost would take some time, but I believe it could be helpful in reducing server stacking to get more/faster rewards, especially during tournaments. The basic rewards systems in wvw could also be adjusted to increase basic rewards (coin, karma, wxp, MF) to servers that manage to gain a PPT tick lead against servers with a higher current population.

You guys miss the point completely. EotM was the ANET vision for the future of WvW. They wanted to roll it out, and have everyone love it. They disregarded feedback from people on the forums and thought we didn’t represent the majority. So, what happened? They rolled it out and …. it was a failure by WvW standards. It was successful for those who enjoy karma trains or running troll builds.

I’ll be playing ESO in first person view anyway for the challenge and immersion… From what I’ve seen AvA looks pretty amazing. I don’t plan of completely leaving GW2, but ESO will be a breath of fresh air, at least for a while.

So true. Most of my guild stopped logging in, they lost interest in WvW. I’ve been advocating for a private/guild only squad system to allow our guild to organize the way WE enjoy. It’s all moot now. After almost 2 years of suggesting, we barely have over a group in WvW most nights now.

My guild has the same issue; we only run a group on reset (and even then, it all depends on how many people happen to log on) and maybe one other day of the week.
It doesn’t help that we’re on HoD and that the majority of our population are PvE karma train kittens; mad props to [Inc] and [Fin] for breaking the mold.

Patience? We’ve been waiting since the game was in beta for things that are essentially basic updates. Meanwhile, in PvE land, they get new content every two weeks.

The thing thing Thousands of suggestions may sound nice but you must look at them all and more then likely most of them are crap or imposable to do. This dose take a lot of time because you do not want things in wvw going super buggly and because of the way WvW is played any glich that lets you get over a wall from a “fast” update will comply destroy a match for a week for 3 worlds at least just think about the numbers there if one glitch happens. You nearly sent the entire community of wvw in shock with these and having wild changes to the system can be just as shocking to the community. That’s it. They community doesn’t seem to be so happy. Perhaps the casual WvW player who mostly does PvE content may be happy. I believe most of the dedicated WvW players who play GW2 aren’t so happy.

And it was needed something drastic a year ago etc.. ppl still wvw and they wvw a lot and there has been a lot of changes the new update is going to add a lot to wvw even if it not aimed at wvw such as the class changes sigl runes etc.. all will effect wvw in a big way (it may be too big). Every time the game is updated wvw is changed in some way.
If Anet dose any thing with GvG its going to be in Spvp its the only way for it to be fair and to justify latter boards. Best just to add in more places for ppl to make there own GvG i suggest in EoTM center.

To say changes Wxp to account vs hero bound means that every one is about to have well over 100 level in wvw added a lot of power to every sieges wepon in the game making def over all harder to pull off in both from an attk stand point say attking a wall or door and from a starving stand point supple gas and traps. To say give everyone one thing that may seem harmless at first can end up being very harmful to the over all system and how ppl see wvw. These things must be tested by a great deal. Say if you did make commander tag account bound this means more tag in the field more confusion for the “PUGs” and more conflict between commanders. Over all it will be more aimless then aim when it comes to having tag account bound. What else is there that you posted on let say showing what guild clamed what by name or showing up on the maps well how do you show this do you make the icon show up on the map? If so what do you do about ppl who take a camp and clame it and then remove that ckittenoon as they take another leapfrogging there clames as most real wvw guilds tend to do. Soon you map will be spammed with confusion of who owns what and there will be lots of rages that cant be realized by the player base in wvw (knowing about something dose not mean you can DO something about it).

Culling, bloodlust and WXP were decent changes.
- Culling was a bad mechanic that didn’t work in WvW. It was a FIX that was needed, not new content.
-Bloodlust was a result from the bad design of the orb system and the hacks that were used to exploit it. Overall a decent change.
- EOTM overflow was added to appease the que crying from the first tournament. They’ve also mentioned they had future WvW living story content that would not work without a WvW overflow system. So don’t think they added EOTM solely for players, it was needed for their design system.
It’s not the new content they added. Compared to living story and PvE bling features the WvW stuff is a drop in the bucket. It’s the stuff they HAVEN’T addressed that’s the issue. Basic things like organizing and grouping systems, hacking and exploits. That stuff can be addressed without changing any of the core WvW mechanics and have been an issue since day 1.

Right, and that’s exactly what my original statement was talking about. They have tons and tons of bugs to work through! And bug fixing isn’t as easy you might guess. If you’ve ever dealt with code, you would know this.
In the end, I don’t believe these bugs are insanely problematic in the grand scheme of things. In other words, the devs have their priorities straight. They will fix these issues, but it’s gonna take time.

I think this is the point we disagree on. Many of these issues were brought up during the first beta weekend event… almost two years ago. With the volume of living story content that was pumped out every two weeks…. where are these WvW bug and issue fixes?
