Kicked off tonight on WSR borders and had a brilliant time with some nice fights..
Highlight of the night was easily defending garrison from both sides with a mass amount of enemies! Props to TEO, CE and the other guild that i am missing for the brilliant fights!

It is hardly Gunnars fault that Surmia turned into a ridiculous bandwagon and ruined tier7/tier8 balance. All anyone cares about on Gunnars is having fun fights and getting back to tier 7. Nobody is going to be ‘focused’.

Hi Eclipse – I can assure you and all of AS and WSR that the sentiment felt within the GH community is most definitely NOT ‘way look at us go, aren’t we awesome!!’… quite the opposite. We respect the fights you are bringing to us and enjoying the game, despite the ranking system and transfers having conspired to make things sadly one-sided. We are sympathetic to your cause and know well what it feels like, but at the same time we will come and fight hard and hopefully with a good amount of pride and sportsmanship.

We are really hoping ROS will move up in sync with us doing the same, as we are really a T7 server who didn’t deserve the previous matchup, just as you probably don’t this one.

It was an interesting time after the reset, Roflstomped by GH in the first 30 mins, then switching to our BL for a fun night, good fights with things changing hands and some good 3 ways fights over the keeps. Looking forward to this week if theres more of that to come.

@ Jupitus the big difference is that in case of imbalance in T7, you go t8 where u can still have fights. Imbalance in T8 means 1 server will go to T9 with many weeks of slow WvW. So you can speak all you want about “respect fights” “enjoying game” (hardly in case of constant outmaning) “don t deserve this match up”, the reality is GH (and not RoS) will send WSR or AS to T9.

We’re not like Surmia; we aren’t going to come onto the forums and condescendingly tell you how you can learn from the experience of being flattened. We hope to be out of your hair as soon as possible so you can go back to a balanced matchup.

Idd our intentions are not brag at the forums or mock and roflstomp other servers. We hope to get out of this tier soon, not to cause any mess and go back to where we belong.
We are not focusing nor want to drop anybody to T9

personally, I am looking for small scale skirmishes and some 1vs1, since GH got higher numbers it is more fun to roam than to zerg.

Great reset from my small groups PoV, its been a while since we could roam without meeting ‘the blob’ if any WSR/AS guilds would like some small scale duels please /w me.

There was certainly more for a small group to do at this reset than previous ones, had fun holding off AS at langor last night with our small group (until our zerg arrived that is)

There was no deliberate throwing of matchup last week for the record, a lot of people stopped playing out of boredom but it wasn’t to ‘escape’ nor to get a free week of domination, it was just because people were bored and unhappy – this is a side effect (sucky or not).

for the record we had a que on wsr borderlands yesterday so we hittedt them as much as we did to AS and AS shouldent complain since oure borderland is half blue aswel just stop qqing and start enjoy the fights

Well I haven’t played this morning but I can tell you that when I was on overnight we had 5 or so people in your bl running supply to get hills uograded. When you got the wall down (was still wooden with wp at this point) we called HT in from EB to help defend it then they went back to EB. We don’t have the nightcapping numbers to take and upgrade a keep on both bls.

It’s nothing personal, on reset we had three guild groups on WSR bl and more than a 20 minute queue there

The biggest problem here is that all GH speak of how Surmia is boring (domination, zerg, forum condescending…) when you are doing exactly the same 1 tier below them.

The difference is Gunnars didn’t invite guilds to transfer down to a bandwagon, us being in a tier 8 is a consequence of Surmia bandwagon pushing 1 server a week down a tier, otherwise we’d likely still be in tier 7 as we were for weeks before then. If we only wanted to farm tier 8 we would have moved down (or bandwagon transferred) long ago.

Nor has there been any condescending on forum about how this is a ‘learning experience’ and that you need to ‘adapt’ to facing far more numbers at all hours of the day in a game environment where numbers and coverage are 90% of the fight. All I see is sympathy and intent from Gunnars to move back up this week.

As MM has been mentioned here, I feel I need to answer. We are not focusing anyone and not trying to push to T9. The main reason why MM decided to attack blue BL is because it’s the one where hills are near our spawn. I think I don’t have to explain why we prefer to bunker in hills not in bay?
I understand the situation of WSR and AS and I’m not happy to be in my current position, but there is not much choice: GH -didn’t- drop on purpose. Yes, we had lower activity, because of players who didn’t like previous week, but we couldn’t do anything about it. What, force them to play?

You can check the match up thread of last week and you will notice the difference.
When some people decide not to play because they don’t like to get stomped, you cannot accuse a whole server for throwing the match.
If the server decides to throw a match to manipulate the ladder then i personally will leave that server. I can assure you though that that isn’t the case here.
GH population, except a few hard core wvw players, is very volatile.
At our highest points we can face tier 5-6 servers at our primetime but on our lowest we are a tier 7-8 server, that is all:)

I would deem a deliberate throw to be people going “Hey guys shall we lose on purpose so we get an easy matchup?” “Yes!! Let’s do it! Everyone take a week off” – I.E, doing it specifically to get a new matchup the week after.

That isn’t something that occurred – there was no tactical decision to “give up”. GH has a large amount of fair-weather players who join in when it’s easy and quit when it’s hard (which makes it very hard to stabilise ¬.¬). But even a few of the more dedicated players were so bored with the situation by the middle of the 2nd week that they simply played less. When they played they didn’t play any less dedicated or put any less attention to points, they just played less. It’s not something that can be helped, people don’t like to play when it’s not fun. It wasn’t a concious decision made to get an easier fight the week after, just due to lack of enjoyment.

It does indeed suck that it has an effect on the tier below. I wouldn’t discount this matchup for being fun, altho I would agree GH will win it just looking at previous performances. I can understand people putting less time in towards the end of the week or into a multi-week matchup, but the 1st day is a bit extreme.

We fought WSR earlier – great fights, nice people. Made some friends from TEO and other guilds in the process.
We somehow missed Arborstone for a long time, and never fought you guys in those low tiers before, unless i was out for a whole week when that happened. So yeah, we’re more eager to play with you a tad
There’s no ‘focusing’, though, and no server-wide plan to ‘boot’ either AS or WSR from t8. Best we can do is wait until the new mutant climbs back up to where it belongs and t7/t8 gets balanced again.

Nah you moved down only when Surmia comes to your tier. Before you were winning against Dzag and RoF so you had no reason to come in t8.
But as long as Surmia was here you stopped fight in order to go t8 to be safe and bring imbalance in the process. Because its strange than the top server in T7 goes down when Dzag is able to stay.
Perhaps it s not on purpose but incounsciously.

@Genotix : never spoke of flaming, we already had a thread with RoS 2 weeks and the week, they get “reinforcments” so i know what RoS do in forums.

lol wel u do know how hard it is when 2 servers focus on u the hole week 24/7 m8 we got keeps taken and downgraded then the other server comes in and ninja it all and holds it while ros keeps pushing and downgrading keeps

I must say I do understand eclipse’s reaction. I mean Gh was so upset with Ros when you have basically been joined by a number of guilds twice also, just like Ros, and when it happenned to you you reacted just like Ros is doing now. Xaoc left in the end and so did most of the transfers that unbalanced our tier but seeing GH people posting here saying they know what its like to be outnumbered and say only Vabbi and Fow had it worse is just insulting. You have been outnumbering tier 7 ever since you got into it.

And I honestly doubt t7/t8 will get balanced since Ros will take a spot from a tier 6 server, and speaking out of experience, whatever T6 server that drops down will run all over the tier 7 servers.

Sorry about posting on your matchup thread but I wanted to share my view and I understad Eclipse’s frustrations, also this thread is nicer since Rof already got accused of night capping in our own thread

I hope to meet both arbor and whiteside again next week and would like to say I’m glad for GH that they escaped the T7 hell for a week.

That’s the dz playstyle, let the major server do the work then ninja the downgraded keeps. It’s what they are doing to us in ROF matchup with ROS at the moment and its what they did to us when we were DZ ROF GH. They are very opportunist.

They do some of their own offensives but mostly the go for the easy scores. Works for them, keeps their ranking up and lets then flip a lot of stuff they couldnt take otherwise.

if ure winning u got friends thats whot the say right if where winning oure pve players come out and play aswel if where loosing we get outnumberd thats just the way it is and i would like to change that but i cant iam sorry on a side note iam here to have funn and the fights WBC and TEO gave CHvc where very funn looking forward to more encounters and to just a nice match up i know its unbalanced but why complain we all cant help it al we can do is have fun fight drink have mor fun and more fights

Krosan, RoS has some guilds that have some issues with GH.
They were at our border 24/7, while the other server borders was basically untouched.
I don’t mind about that that is fair game i would have fought them even if i was alone, but for many people it wasn’t fun.
I can’t blame them for not wanting to play.
If RoS would have gotten only Vcy and Riot the story would have been different, but by the middle of first week the situation changed.
They got even more guilds and for many people it was pure frustration. Btw if we had KREW they would have lost the first match by the end of the weekend

Just a note: 1 of the 2 reasons surmia focused you was because you focused on surmia
so we had to go all out on you otherwise we’d have you with breakouts 24/7 on our bl until the south towers fell..

Eclipse – MM is everywhere, i guess (at least on GH / AS / EB), we’re really spread out unless it’s a scheduled guild event, and just commanding in AS BL because no one else from GH really ventures there so far. Anyway, we’re not the whole server and we’re not at blue Hills because of any cross-guild or -server feud, neither we are as cool in WvW as teams like VotF or VcY

I’m sure on reset Arborstone had WSR Hills for quite a while. It is only natural to go for Hills on the map when it’s on your spawn side. It’s the easiest keep in the game to defend for an attacker.

no i didn’t fail with my quotations, GH isn’t the only server who focused us, infact AS focused us so much they left their bl empty giving us ample oportunity to take their keeps.

If the people in EB for the last couple of hours on Friday listened to me and did as I suggested (probably nobody), then they would have been having a dance party in the spawn. I doubt my team chat spam had any effect though.

I think we need to just get it out there: we didn’t want or try (much) to come down – we got spanked by a server that got a million transfers from t1. So our T7 problems are your T8 problems now.

There is no guarantee Gunnars will move up on current score, and who knows whether Surmia bandwagon will even last the week as Mos Matchup indicates they have little chance of moving to tier 6.

Also even if that was the case, now that Hills is fully upgraded, you’re seriously suggesting a server should just abandon it? Is that honestly what you did in tier 9, or would do in tier 8?

Don’t lie.
We both know the true. We though we can be first. So the strategy was to focus Surmia and that what we did . We reset Hills and Bay. AFTER that, FRS focused us on Hills and trouble begann.
So we wanted to go to WSR, but some guildes on AS wanted to continue to focus Surmia.
That’s the major problem of AS, there is no coordination, everyone do his own life.

Okay, so apparently some did want to throw it, as best of my knowledge they are the minority. There was no server agreement to such an extent however, unless it was done hidden away from my eyes ^^.
