GW2 without WvW
I agree with that sentiment to an extent.
PvP is a big fail, all the main guys have left, it’s been mismanaged from the ground up and impromptu GvG competed with it for popularity.
The sorts of people that mostly PvE are the kinds of people that want easy content for high rewards. Who would rather relax and take things easy.
They don’t want to PvP or WvW due to the ‘competitive’ nature of it, their competition is usually in the form of TP flipping and auto attacking at world bosses and then comparing the results.
WvW is really where the community of GW2 is made beyond the servers, 2 week updates etc. Otherwise GW2 would be the game you solo for dailies, check out new content every 2 weeks and group up once a week for guild missions.

You may not realize the irony yet, but you just described the majority of “PvX” players, and something approaching half of all guilds that enter WvW.
The enemy “zerg” is a world boss.
They say “inc” and only “inc” because “inc” means “champ is up!”
RvR isn’t “endgame”, it’s the only game. Cu in CU.

Dunno what server your on but that sounds nothing like mine, sounds more like EotM.

Dunno what game you’re in, but sounds nothing like the five servers I’ve played in across the full range of the board. Definitely not the 2 that I’ve played for more than 9 months each.

Now you just sound like a bandwagoner that’s upset.

Would it hurt your assumption if I mention that these servers are not in my five:
- Blackgate
- Jade Quarry
- Tarnished Coast
- Sea of Sorrows
- Henge of Denravi
- Kaineng
Next failed insult, please!

No, cause I’d be assuming you’re straight up.
You still sound upset.

I am. This rash, it just won’t go away, and the doctor gave an -itis diagnosis.

Hi everyone,
Please keep in mind that every feedback is welcome on this forum as long as it is written in a respectful and constructive way.
We would therefore ask you to respect each other’s opinion and avoid any derailing or off topic posts.
Thank you!

A lot of PvE players WvW very casually by following the map zerg. Unless it’s Friday’s karma-train, it adds some spice to the really boring and tedious PvE where everything is always exactly the same (even more so with the new bus-schedule of champion events).
If WvW dies (very likely as Anet seems to hate it), the game will be hurt a lot more than Anet may believe.
I would have probably left GW2 year go if it wasn’t for WvW.

This was extremely well said. Massive +1 to this, hopefully this will be read.

Lets try to keep focused on how much we love wvw and how essential it is to wvw, since its essentially endgame. Ive talked to a lot of people who have said they wouldn’t play gw2 if it wasn’t for wvw. WvW makes you feel connected to your server, makes you wanna go in every week and defend your home and the people you are fighitng with. For me being in a guild, it makes me get excited each week when reset hits to see who we face and what guilds we will see on the battlefield, what awesome fights we’ll have.
In other games, endgame may be a gear grind where you spend time getting geared for a certain raid that may take you 2 months to fully complete. In guild wars 2, the only equivalent to this is leveling your character, getting geared(ascended trinkets usually are what matter, not armor), finding a guild to join, joining them, and progressively getting better each night with each fight you have.
For me, im not much of a ppt fan since its unbalanced in my opinion and a very hard problem to fix, but when the servers have been balanced, its so fun. I’ve been in matches where everyone is 1k away from each other in terms of points.
Without WvW?
I would have burned out the PvE and left this game already.
There is nothing in any game I’ve played which can match the feeling of working with 20 friends on voice chat, with all skills working together, fighting a similar group. Nothing that can match your group getting on the jump on a group twice your size and having them for breakfast. There are so many amazing experiences WvW can give.
Alas, it takes a level of commitment to reach these experiences, and ideally, there would be better community tools for commanders and guilds.
I digress though. As others have said, without WvW I would’ve stopped playing a few months after launch – it’s more of an end game than any living story could ever be IMO.
No wvw, game dies.
Now start making 2 week balance tweaks and fixing the things we’ve been asking for for 2 years.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.
