Get rid of it
Some people actually enjoy the downed state, and if you play it the right way you actually can win 2v1 and 3v1s, so long as you have a way of stopping the other enemies from getting their downed team member back up. The problem is we on the forum have no real way of knowing how many players actually want it removed, and what it would do to the state of WvW. Anet can actually do that to some degree. If they haven’t done it by now, or stated that they are looking into it, maybe it’s just time to stop asking for this.
It’s already been stated downed state is a part of the game and won’t be removed… Stop asking for this.

Downed state is oke, its the rezzing that makes large groups powerfull.
Its part of the game. Sure it isn’t something you find anywhere else, but why does that make it bad? Its like trying to play checkers with chess pieces, you can do it, but why not just learn how to play chess? Play the game in front of you, not the one that you created inside your head.
Downed state is a terrible design to allow the more players a better chance at victory then the lesser sized group. I cant count how many times ive downed players just to watch their friends rez them up before i the animation to spike them finishes. I play in smaller groups from solo to 5 mans and down state is a noob cushion. Every class has access to healing and ways to avoid dmg. And, even if their is a downed state, why do players have like 60k hp while downed? The dmg i do to a player to put there in downed state (roughly 20k?) i have to do 3x as much to finish unless i stomp which makes me extremely vuln. And no im not talking when im on thief who can just stealth and smash dudes invisibily.
Players will argue downed state is fine, blah blah. Try running not ikittenergball and 3v10 ish. GL no matter how much you out skill/gear the 10. In most cases you run or you watch the guys dead pop up with half life like nothing even happened.
I miss the days when skilled groups (DaoC) with a smart group make up could really make a difference as skirmishers. Yes it -rarely- happens in GW2 and im sure some dude will post a video of it happening to show us all how viable it is. Yea yea.

Removing downed state would favour glass cannon builds with burst damage. There is already too much burst damage in the game.
If you haven’t defeated an opponent, you haven’t defeated them. A downed player has not bean defeated yet. Hit them some more. If you can’t defeat a downed player maybe you shouldn’t have rolled a burst damage spec. If you can’t survive long enough to stomp, you are probably running a glass cannon.
Some classes downed states do need tweaking.

Downed state is for the poorly skilled, zerg players, which makes up the majority of the game. Why are you surprised that it is still here?
Personally I would settle for a cap on rally, one death of a deer shouldnt rally 10 people. How about getting rid of downed damage, your downed, you should have a skill to avoid one stomp, and a heal, that’s it, no damage. Why does the downed person get stripped of all conditions when they go down? Why do they get so much health?
Lots of things could be done to make the downed system not so much of a crutch, instead it’s ignored.
Umm, no. I love downed state. It adds an extra layer of complexity to the combat system that I really enjoy. In a 2v1 or 3v1 scenario I now have to manage my combatants as a whole instead of just bursting down each opponent in turn. It makes battles where you’re outnumbered so much more satisfying when you succeed.
Downed state is just another part of your enemy’s life. You haven’t won anything until you’ve either stomped them or depleted their downed health bar. You have to plan for how you’re going to overcome an enemy’s downed state prior to battle or, well, you’re going to have a bad time.

This is spot on and probably the reason why it would never be removed. People can call it noob state or whatever you want to call it. The thing is nobody knows the skill level of the player they are fighting anyway so maybe just maybe that person you fought is you know a Noob! You might be dragon sPvP rank and he might be a rabbit. There is no way to know that and it doesn’t matter anyway (thankfully).

I hate the downed state also, but getting rid of rallies is more realistic and solves most of the issues. One random in a group vs group can literally literally cost your group the entire fight by getting staked in his kittenty berserker build. 20v20, one random dies, your side loses.

Many people are quite happy with the downed state, which is a core feature of the game I might add.
Downed state is fine. Rallying is the problem. Keep rallying from the death of other players if necessary, but getting back to full life by one-shotting a passing moa? Just no.

I don’t think they will remove downed state. Mainly because they want to encourage zerging. I just hope they give out loot xp after you down someone rather than after stomp.
I am conflicted about what is right for the game. As an solo small gp ganker I would love to see downed stated removed. It would allow me to do unspeakable things to zergs. On the other hand I see how allowing a few people kill a zerg is so so bad for the game as a whole (DaoC , War) I’m willing to live with it.
Downed state is what makes zergs powerful – even if one person is downed, the others can rez or just protect him/her. It’s a bit of a crutch I guess, but removing it is not the solution.
This is because by removing the downed state, burst damage could get out of control. Zerg-fights would be over in seconds with massive numbers everywhere.
Thieves would become even more overpowered in a 1v4 or less as they would have no need to even stealth stomp anyone (which is kind of silly in the first place) and could just burst the squishier people down first.
So no, don’t remove the downed state.

No. Plenty of people in my guild know how to pop protection and regen before rezzing while others protect them, and then pop their heals / shout heals the moment the rez goes up. It’s not hard to coordinate near risk free rezzes when you have a core group of guardians / shout warriors who’s job is to hold the line. Most of the time you can rez the person before anyone has any time to set up a 100bs attack, and that is the problem.
One of the biggest problems is the rally mechanic – it needs to go. It has no place here. If you want a rally mechanic, then it needs to be something that the downed person focuses – a beam or a debuff applied to 1 target, and if that target is killed then a rally should occur. But it should not be a random “someone died 20 feet away who I hit one time, free rez!” mechanic. It is utterly ridiculous in its current form.
The time it takes to ress is way to little. It should take 5 times longer. Or else it will just favour zergs.
Well if downed state wont be removed. It needs to be reworked you should only be able to heal in downed state after 5 seconds. No dodges, no attacks, no nothing but a heal (number 4 ability)

Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.
It definitely needs some alteration, I dont overly mind it in theory but the fact u can be instantly rezzed and have a minor downed buff as the only drawback is what is the most annoying, you should come up with a rez sickness buff, you do 1/2 damage in addition to the downed buff. or all ur timers come up on cooldown for 10 seconds except for auto attack.
Anything to take you out of the combat for a little while as a “hey buddy u just got dropped” take 20/10/15 seconds of chill out time. Or if you want you can still elect to contribute, just at 50% dps(coming right back up with all skills available and at 100% dps capacity is just crazy).
The best use for my elite skill while soloing on my Mesmer is to guarantee stomps, period.

Remove it? No.
Limit the amount of people who can “heal” you well downed dureing combat and make it interruptible by damage. Yes, it should be hard to get someone up from down well the fight is still going and it would make the utilities that some class have to get people up from down important enough to warrant using.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
Remove rallying from enemies being killed and problem solved!! Only way to get ba k up should be from self or others healing.

That being said, there are changes to downed in WvW that I am open to hearing.

You are not supposed to be able to just simply stomp an opponent the first time he gets downed if his teammates pick him up quickly. Downing one enemy is the first stage of multi-phase campaign to win a fight against competent opponents.
That said, Rally (a separate issue) is a big problem in the case where one random pug costs an organized group a fight against another organized group by dying and rallying the entire enemy team.

Being downed and revived should still have a significant consequence in the fight.
They can change it so i have 1 downed ability that kills me and damages everyone around me instantly…would be better than what i have now.

And those other skills I see QQ about: mostly vapor => pro-tip: snare once downed, the bugger will go misty, but won’t be able to move
/meh. Its a double edge sword. It can be used against a team with a downed opponent or it can benefit them. I guess its probably not always such a good thing, probably better to have it removed for balance reasons.
