Before we got Badges of Honor in achievement chests, the only way to get the GoB was by actively playing WvW, since you could only get Badges from playing WvW.
You could get Badges of Jumping Honor from the Jumping Puzzles in WvW. And in fact, that’s what a lot of people did… The only thing that actually forced PvE players to do WvW was when they needed map completion of all WvW maps which was removed.

What if I told you you don’t have to follow a Commander Tag to get your GoB and you can do it in 4-8 hrs doing very simple things like flipping camps/sentries escorting yaks and so on….. it’s not that difficult and you can afk for ten minutes at a time!!! And to your last comment, a lot of people don’t like PvE /Map Completion but have to deal with 16+ hrs and can’t afk through it, so get over it the Devs have made their decision.

Punishment? You have it easy! Why should us wvw players be punished to farm the crap out of pve for mats and not to mention gift of exploration.

Yes please revert this annoying change so all those pve people have to get 100% map completion on 3 borders and 1 eternal battleground.
Ever thought about how easy it is nowadays versus what it used to be? Spoiled pve rats….
I read through all of the posts and I believe we all have some common ground here. For starters I agree with the WVW people about having to do the complete map many times to unlock the GOE. I understand their pain I have 16 characters and its a pain to keep having to complete the thing. I would think that best choice would be to simple state that if we have done map completion for at least 1 character the map should be complete the for the rest. In so doing perhaps the Devs can then unlock the GOE say with commendations so the WVW folks and PVP folks can get it that way.
While saying I see the same thing for the PVE folks. IT makes sense that the GOB could be bought with commendations as well but I do think that perhaps in the same way as above – it couldn’t hurt to have the PVE players stick it out for one GOB reward track.

I am a PVP/WvW player. Am trying to make a legendary and now am being punished and condemned to PVE in order to finish it. Every time I get into PVE to do map completion either I get so bored I fall asleep or get so mad with some of the vista/puzzles I throw my laptop against the wall. Last weekend I spent several hours and managed to get a few hearts needed because I fell asleep after 10 min. At this rate it’ll take several months worth of weekends to get my map completion. I sincerely agree that wvw map completion should be brought back as a requirement for gift of exploration. If it weren’t for that requirement I never would have discovered how much fun and rewarding wvw is. The wvw community is so much more complex and social than the pve community, as I see it. You will meet allies who become friends who become guildmates, and obtain a strong sense of loyalty to your team.
I entered wvw a few years ago for the sole purpose of finishing world exploration, and I haven’t gone back to pve since (aside from living story)
Nobody is forced to make legendary items. If you WANT the legendary item, you have to do what is necessary to make them.

Developers replied those requests and denied them. End of story. You should have to do the content to get the reward, goes for GoB and GoE.
Why should peoples effort to repeat map completion for GoE be devalued because the vocal minority (the general community doesn’t all use the forum, surprise) on the forum can’t be kitten d to repeat it for the gifts?
I agree that the tasks should be repeated. It sounds like you agree that when the task is completed, we should get the reward. Many of us completed enough tasks in WvW to buy multiple GoBs, before they became available in other ways. They were earned. Many/most players did not fill up their inventory with them because they are not used to make a Legendary weapon that often, and didn’t stack. The vendor to access the GoBs was there for years. Then it was gone.
These threads will likely reappear often because it’s simple to go back and see that the players were not notified when the change was going to happen and the only reference to it was not in a legendary section, only in the WvW section of previous patch notes.
Still, go ahead and let players know it wont change, even if it’s exactly the type of “issue” they have fixed in the past. I think your right and that they won’t change it, but then I also think forcing players into the game mode wont help you or me or the game mode. There is more than one issue here and pointing to a single Dev response will not end the discussion.

As it should have been. It is a WvW change. If you are making a Legendary, you should research what you need.
If you needed a part from say, dungeons, and obtaining gifts from them were changed, it will be under a ‘Dungeons’ subheading, no matter if you do them or not.
As soon as we were all warned that the Gift would be moved to a reward track, many bought it that week. From that warning, we did not need a date, Anet only has to inform that a change is coming.
That would make sense if there wasn’t a Legendary section in the patch notes.

Actually, wanting to craft Incinerator is what got me into WvW seriously.
I wanted to profit from the occasion to get memories of battle through reward track. So I joined a guild got into TS. I got the memories, more or less put incinerator on stand by. But I’m having a lot of fun with my guild.

Yeah they gave the information saying that they will remove the vendor when Wvw reward tracks are out of beta, we also know maningful patches are done quarterly so after 3 months when they removed it aligned with their quarterly patch…. so there is that. The warning was given in the main game mode section that it impacts which is removing a wvw only vendor from wvw. There are the facts.

What actually happened, was that a WvW Vendor that uses WvW currency was announced to be removed from the game once beta reward tracks were out of beta.
It was announced in the patch notes introducing the reward tracks, and the patch notes when it happened.
It not only coincided with a quarterly update (you know the ones where all the big changes happen), but we were given ample time to buy it/earn it with Badges if we could.
It’s not Anets fault PvE purists don’t keep upto date with changes that will effect them. Even given the fact that you needed rank 14 in WvW to even buy the gift in the first place, so you had to either WvW for it, or WvW for it. That has not changed.
You know, it’s stuff like this that makes me really resent the PvE community.
You have to spend a couple of hours in wvw to get your legendary? Boohoo.
I have to spend excruciating ages in PvE to grind my legendary. On top of that, WvW rewards have always been absurdly low (presumably to encourage only people who actually like the game mode to go WvW. looks at empty borders Yes, doing a good job there, Anet). All the while there isn’t a WvW-exclusive legendary. Even the unique WvW armor skin isn’t complete, and no ETA when that will be.
Cry me a river, you don’t know how good you have it.
In the end it all comes down to just how bad you want your shiny toy and whether or not you want it enough to suck it up, put on the big person armor and get it done. I’d love to be able to give away the 16 gifts of exploration sitting in my bank to WvW people because I know they have it far worse when it come to the legendary grind.

It was announced in April and removed in June that was plenty of time for people to get what they needed. It didn’t need a date of WHEN because we were already told it was happening. Why wait to get it sorted? It was in the WvW section because it’s a WvW change.
Stop ignoring information in patch notes because you /think/ it’ll never affect you because it clearly has and probably will again. Really if someone missed the announcement that’s on them, not Anet.
Sure threads will keep showing up but they’ll get the same kind of response as this one. Anet has already said it won’t be changed and it SHOULDN’T be changed.
