Give F2P gliding in WvW. Perfect marketting.

yeah sure we all need those flying invisible zergs, maybe unicorn mounts should be there too and lets all have pink butterly fairies that give us free potions along with that.

I think WvW needs a good fixing before adding any more bugs to it . Especially flying bugs.Ready your fly swatter.
anet just needs to port underwater combat onto gliders and add flak seige and shield generator bubbles for inner keeps as an upgrade. it’s not hard and should have come with HoT. it’s a logical fun thing to do to sell more games and have a larger happier player base.
with the right seige and a solid port of under water combat (maybe if anet feel fun add a few land weapons in air too) it would be great. the BLs are made to glide, and air raids would be incredible.

Geez guys its just a suggestion. I dont really see how hard it is, seeing they can just add invisible walls everywhere. And in the same sense they could build upward, maybe make some skycastles. idk.
The fact is EB is boring. Because its stale. Its doing the same stuff over and over again for the past 3 years. and all theyve added to that is more gimmicks. I feel gliding could potentially open up EB to more fresh content and would allow for more gw2.
I mean they arent splitting various gamemodes skill balancing so new ppl dont get confused. But even, i, as a veteran sometimes get confused where i can glide and where i cant. It seems contradicting.

They’re already redesigning the Alpine maps so I’d hope they’re taking the possibility that they might include gliding in the future into account when updating that map. I’d rather we didn’t have another “Omg Druid can jump into Towers” moment. Even if they don’t implement the gliding, it’s always better being safe than sorry.
As for EB, keep gliding out of there until they release “EB 2.0”, the current map just wouldn’t work.
Because WvW players are desperate for yet more gimmicks and for more ways for kitten servers who can’t fight to run away…

I wouldn’t class gliding as PvE.
It would be fine in WvW as long as it was easy to shoot them out of the skies.
High risk, high reward game play is fun. You can try to glide to evade enemies but you risk being shot out of the sky and taking fall damage.
Gliding could be a fun mechanic for WvW but only if it was done right, if they do it badly it could be a disaster.

Wars have used aerial combat for a hundred years IRL, it’s not too much of a stretch to imagine gliders being used in our fantasy war simulator.
Gliders aren’t as much of a gimmick as they are a different way to traverse or create new ways to fight. Shooting a zerg out of the air with a wall placed ballista 2 sounds like a lot of fun.
What we don’t need are teleporting npcs, lasers that destroy all gates on the map and (from the old maps) Siegerazer style npcs. Those are all gimmicks, gliding could at least create a new way to fight, and I like fighting.
They would only make it more laggy, then the computer/server need to keep track off players up in the air to and ofc new way to cheat.

Look at it this way, either think of ideas that keep the game mode interesting and fun that Anet could work on and implement for the long term betterment of the game mode else risk it getting stale as it has been for years.
I’d rather they worked on adding gliding than risk Anet adding more pointless mechanics like the Oasis event in a lame attempt at getting PvE players to play the game mode.
Good luck getting new players involved in the game mode to keep our overall population healthy:

Yeah. Add invisible walls everywhere. That sounds about right for Anet: the same level of work and effort as cut-and-pasting the deserted BL’s map right on top of the old BL’s map.

Gliding would be the biggest ‘gimmick’ and it would be a shallow attempt at bringing players to WvW. We need less of this not more. So I hope this never happens.
Also, the issue with maps is mostly centred around the map design and PvE content of DBL not EB.
i’ve seen some screenshots of invisible walls in pve land that have mining nodes on other sides of them that players can’t get to.. so no thanks.. rather not have more things that may end up breaking wvw.
they finally got rid of the drakes that were contesting the green keep in EBG and that has been happening since HoT launched. just think if they mess up one invisible wall we will be stuck with it until they decide to fix it..

I don’t think they’d work regardless since they’d probably block people from jumping off the side of the walls, unless they can create a one way wall.
I still like the idea of adding automated anti-air guns with the T1 upgrades to shoot down any aerial attackers. (T1 because I think there should be more emphasis on having real players defending towers and keeps, especially at the lower tiers)
Only to f2p players so they can buy it? One huge flaw in this suggestion; They happily glide around WvW until they buy the game and realise they can not glide anymore.

Personally I don’t care if someone is at a disadvantage, they can play the ground troops while the rest of us who support the game glide around the maps.

Lets not forget that Elite specs aren’t given to free players either and they give a straight-up upgrade to most builds, giving expansion owners an advantage.
So if it’s true that they’re not implementing it for that reason, then they’re really selective about how they view player base equality.

They don’t need to redesign anything. Just put invisible walls like they have around jumping puzzles so players can’t glide into towers and keeps.
And why should f2p players get gliding without HoT? I paid for gliding and they get it for free lol. Why would they buy the expansion after? You don’t need stealth gliding, endurance, lean technique or leyline gliding in WvW so giving them basic gliding is stupid.

maps are not designed for gliding. well maybe new map but its hated and as far as i can see it is not hated because you can’t glide in it. If they redesign EBG map for gliding i will be one mad player.
if you want to glide and drop bombs go fight the new shatterer

One point would be since newer players that haven’t tried WvW would be used to gliding since it’s all over the place now they could be turned off of playing WvW because of that lack of freedom.
It could provide new tactics for players to use. Other than escaping enemies (to which I think shooting them out of the sky would be fun), if you’re having a standoff fight with an enemy zerg and they’ve built siege to bolster their attack, you could send someone to glide down from a higher point and, provided they aren’t shot out of the skies, disable their siege from behind.
With the new maps, it could provide a shortcut through the maze-like lower end of the map.
Provided Anet makes it so that gliding couldn’t be abused to get into towers and keeps somehow, I don’t see any reason not to have it included other than some people not liking change.
Gliding isn’t going to bring back the masses. That is the last change they should currently make given their terrible history with making things worse in wvw. It’ll just be abused and exploited into the ground and it will upset even more of the player base. Leave it out.
