Glicko Reset , Yes or No ? Please Vote

There are dozens of threads from the beginning of WvW that detail the suffering that happened while waiting for rankings to sort themselves out. Whatever problems we have now, a reset would surely make them worse.

Maybe not a full reset, but a soft reset then.

A reset would not make the problems worse it would fix the problems. It would fix JQ being stuck and DB and TC being considered Tier 1 servers. It would fix MAG consistently destroying Tier 3 and most importantly when the server are pair it would strike a better balance quicker.

Since we’re significantly shaking up existing team membership, we’ll be resetting matchmaking data. This means there’ll likely be a lot more variation in matchups for the next several weeks. It’s also worth noting that the new world groupings aren’t necessarily permanent. We have the option to link different worlds together as populations shift over time.

We’re releasing world linking as a beta feature and asking the WvW community to test it on the live servers.

I am with the YES. Nice change.

I believe the logic is that the pairing system would help reduce the growing pains of a glicko reset by creating more even matches overall. The concept of tiers means less now anyways as a measure of a server’s strength.

Will the linking be permanent ? Or at least long term link ?
To build a good community we need that the link don’t change every week (like eotm).
I can understand if the link have to change very few times to adapt to population, but not every weeks… Even not every month..

This is a great idea to reset them all. It will erase the epic collapses of servers from years ago. I am talking about ET,HOD,IOJ, and the biggest server to cause the glickos to go crazy SOR. SOR’s collapse helped cause/ is basically the main reason T1 has the giant glicko wall it has from T2.

It sounds like they will be semi-permanent at first, and will adjust them as needed. We’ll have to see how the new “tiers” play out.
