Once again HoD is pitted against SBI and Mag in tier 3. CD has the higher glicko and server rating over HoD yet once again gets an easy match up in tier 4. I don’t understand this. This has happened for weeks now. HoD is constantly beaten into the dirt and it’s getting old.

I would appreciate it if someone can explain to me how this is a possible balanced match up.

Yeah whats up with that? CD rating is higher than HoD but we still in t4. Anyone care to explain this? Anyone from Anet?

TL;DR: Matchups aren’t just determined by the glicko rating alone, a random roll is applied to the rating (up to about +/- 70 points atm) when matchups are generated. This is done to create matchup variety. At this time, servers within about 140 points of each other can therefore switch positions when matchups are generated.

Every Thursday the matchup wish list thread is updated with % chance for matchups. Maguuma/sbi/cd was only a 58% chance this week – so nearly 4 in 10 it wasn’t going to be that matchup…

You thInk cd is unlucky, ask fa about the troll roll to drop them to t3 for 1 week – like 2% chance or so if I recall properly…..

I imagine we will go t3 during the exciting Golem event… one great week after another….

I see 30% for the matchup that was chosen (two times in a row). So yea, it’s quite possible, but I think they need to lower the extra rank die. It’s not like a d20 roll in D&D where…uh oh, I missed this round of combat. This is an entire week of crap that these hidden rolls determine. Of course, the glicko system doesn’t work in this situation anyway, but anet never got that through their heads.

I’m sorry to tell you that but you still have a pretty good chance to roll Mag and SBI next week again. Check the predictions for yourself :

Ratings imply being fair and equal.

WvW is neither fair or equal.

Coverage and numbers, that is all WvW is about if you only consider the PPT aspect.

There are many guilds which just like the big fights and do not care about points.

These ratings mean nothing expects that you have more people on during more hours of the day.

I was about to make a thread about this very subject. When I got into reset and saw it was HoD again insetead of CD, I just logged right out.

Not that I don’t like HoD but we’ve fought them for a few weeks and we need to see what CD has got.

Variety is the spice of life. We’ve got 3 servers: HoD, CD and NSP that can come into the T3 matchup and give good matches. Before HoD it was NSP for too long. Mix it up Anet! Why are we stuck with only one out of 3 possibilities for weeks?

The answer is matchmaking. And Glicko combined with the random chance. And its time for it to go.

How about using common sense when making the matchups. Go into wvw and see what is happening. Tier 1 is locked up and there is no reason why the guilds and players on FA , or even YB now, should not be allowed to see what could happen in T1. They deserve it. If they get rolled so be it. ANET has no problem with lower tier severs getting rolled. Just today GOM was ticking 695. Is that fair and balanced? No. And Tier 1 is uncrackable, what fun is that? Why is there no new blood allowed in Tier 1, its boring. Yes BG and JQ tag team TC (yippee) week in week out and JQ is so blobby but somehow their zerg stops when on a roll and then magiclaly disappear and the scores stay somewhat close. Its transparent whats happening up there. YB/FA/SOS forever stuck in Tier 2 have been playing one another for months, you know how boring that is? The top 6 teams all locked into two tiers without interchanging at all. Throw the glicko out, get in the game, talk to some people, see what is actually going on. See if TC or BG would roll the other servers. But, I don’t think so. See if FA or YB in Tier 1 would hold their own, I guarantee it. Don’t hide behind an algorithim when common sense should prevail and make this the game it should be in wvw. Golem week was fun for a few days but its chased people out of wvw and created a lot of negativity in map chat. COMMON SENSE.

Not 100% locked anymore…. Highly unlikely there is any change this week, might want to watch over the next month or so though…..
