I’m not too sure. It took both SoR and BG to keep JQ down in week 1. I’m sure you guys can make a real fight of it.

Who cares about 2nd and 3rd.

Just throw matches if it will allow as many servers as possible to get 2nd/3rd prizes.

You either win or lose. BG has won Gold League, that’s all that matters.

There is a predatory element to Tier 1 right now, as evidenced by how JQ is focusing SoR in their moment of weakness.
If SoR loses to TC this week, look for BG and JQ to be less than kind to SoR in the following week.
By the time they realize they are risking destabilizing T1 and creating a stink sandwich for a few months, it will be too late.

Being on SoR, I have seen less and less of the normal groups of people that I see in wvw on a nightly bases. If we keep on course we will be 4th in the league and a solid teir 2 server. Now if we hang in tier 2 depends on how we get hit by fair weather transfers to and from SoR. My gut tells me JQ and BG are going to see a large influx of players thou.

I’m hoping that it actually might encourage some destacking from BG and JQ; but as time has shown it usually takes a series of negative events to encourage a destack.
Some BG/JQ transfer love to SoS and FA would create 6 fairly balanced servers at the top and could keep WvW viable, competitive, and fun for a while.

Especially since the alternative now in beta sounds like a complete bust; it’s more important than ever that this game mode remains fun for people.

This is probably true. Also, if people remember a lot of the board chatter prior to the leagues, this was predicted. SoR really had no friends and in a league, working together with other servers at times is important.

That said, I think SoR as a server is fine. Look what they did to us (TC) last week. The difference is this… last week, mag focused more on TC than on SoR. This week, JQ is focusing more on SoR than TC. Every week, something like that happens during any match.

I think the real questions are:
-Will SoR step up this week?
-Will TC take pity on SoR and allow them to tie?

Personally I hope SoR steps up, and TC plays hard, let’s see what happens!

JQ was focussed because they had 3 easy matches in the season.

SoR is slowly migrating to tier 2. This will be exacerbated by people transferring to either BG or JQ to remain in tier 1. The core of SoR’s community will remain, but I think the server will hover at T2 for a bit, and slowly settle down one more tier, and stay there.

Just speculation though.

I have noticed that SoR right now, isn’t quite as polite or kind as it was a just prior to Season 1. That makes me a bit sad. More than once, I’ve seen someone ask a question in /map, and either get no answer, or something snarky.

No TC, don’t join the bid 3. FA misses you already.

Unlikely SoR will move to Tier 2. 1v1 scenarios TC vs. SoR will tick at 500+ PPT during all of sea into EU. The reason why SoR is losing is because during a JQ/SoR matchup that 500+ PPT ticks turn into sub 200 ticks. Also post leagues there will be movement, and I can tell you right now there are some pretty significant guilds looking to join SoR’s ranks.

Many on SoR are taking a break (at least from an oceanic point of view), burnt out from trying to fight against overwhelming forces, failing to raise forces over multiple BLs at the same time. We have been BL hopping for a long time and it’s taken it’s toll.

Still a break is a good time to recharge our batteries and I expect people will come back to the fight when they are refreshed.

I had fun last night. I hope I offered enough resistance to the 60+ JQ mob that kept attacking me in open combat (i do hope you all got enough damage on me to get your bag, not sure how it works 60v1). Perma-stuns are all the fun whilst I waited to be stomped – then off to the next sentry you all went leaving my lonely body behind. The fun you guys must be having.

Later whilst trying to take ‘your’ tower, I was spotted by a scout. The game was up as the 60+ mob came to save to the day again. More bags, I felt like santa.

If we could get the top 6 to around TC levels it would be fun; but as I said, history is against me on that one.

Besides, SoR hasn’t quite slid into T2 yet, but are in danger of going T1.5.

Shifty was the only person trolling from IRON, and he even left IRON to continue trolling. says a lot about his character. Then he started saying things like why should sor even bother fighting when bg is stacked, and next thing he does is transfer to an eu server. no respect for such people. They indeed portrayed a bad image on the forums, which I’m sure hurt their recruitment. Hopefully they can pick themselves up after this debacle. I’m sure JQ are focusing them this week and SoR might just be taking the rest of the season off which explains why they are losing to TC.

I certainly do not speak for the rest of TC, but I prefer being in T2.

TC, SoS, Mag, FA all seem to be more about the fights. T1 is great strategy, but those servers are way too focused on PPT.

A destack would require guilds to split. JQ for example, ATM/FOO are a huge (HUGE) sea force and if all of BG/SoR’s SEA guild spread out, no one would be able to compete with them. The only reason GQ was able to cope with JQ’s SEA was because we had EU-OCX to upgrade objectives and force them to start from scratch every night. (not to discredit BG’s SEA, those guys did a great job!)

People of Sor, TC, FA or another server Tier 1-2-3 there is a French guild looking to join a NA server bg has told them to go to another server to make it more balanced so dont know which guild it is just letting you guys know.

I think you misunderstood my post.

Not wishing for 4th for SoR, but I would really hate it if JQ or TC give us a pity win. If we take 4th then so be it, after leagues the fairweather will surely abandon ship and we’ll keep our core players. If that means we’ll play in T2 then we’ll just play in T2. At the moment it’s only ever entertaining to fight against one of the T1s anyways.

Tiers don’t exist – server rankings do (or I assume they will do after the league end) ranked from BG (currently I suppose) down based on past performance. You can call the currently ranked 1, 2 and 3 servers “T1” if you like but random match ups mean they won’t play each other each week especially as TC and SoR are pretty close at the moment.

TC and SoR are then a bit ahead of a cluster of SoS Mag FA SBI YB etc. Would be dumb to say which is in what “tier”. Looking forward to fights between this group of servers post league.

Hope SoR will atleast try to get ontop of TC this matchup. But shouldn’t lose focus on the fun fights.

If SoR ends up 4th, then so be it.

SoR even in its current state has more coverage than TC, especially during SEA. The main reason they are struggling this week (other than participation issues and whatnot) is JQ keeping their SEA down, plus TC is obviously focusing SoR in general.

If SoR really fell to “T2” due to ratings or whatever in their current state, they will simply devastate the remainder of the T2 and below servers much worse than how TC did before. It’s all in the off-hours, and the top 3 still have more of it than anyone else atm.

Whats funny is going into season 1. Almost no one outside of BG thought they were going to win. It was all JQ and SoR. BG 3rd…maybe. There was a clear 2v1 after the first weekend verse JQ. On top of being hailed as the best server pre season they got the easiest schedule.

Somewhere in weeks 2 and 3 SoR simply stopped showing up. They gave up. If TC is still fighting strong regardless of the outcome I say good on them.

Next week might be interesting. Wondering if BG shows to the fight at all to be honest.

I was referring to someone that had just transferred to SoR, stated as much, and politely asked what the Frostgorge champ rotation was here, and it took close to 5-8 minutes for someone to answer. I was going to whisper him the answer when someone finally answered him.

I guess I’m merely homesick for the Guinevere server back in DAoC. Even your enemies were friendly enough on the forums, but I think that’s the main thing Anet missed the boat on: Community, and providing ample support for it. At the very least, the official forums should have individual server boards. I think server migration would diminish somewhat if there were established communities with Anet support in place.

I don’t think so. Players have evolved and there are more of them now then in DAOC. Attitudes are different, and mostly for the worse.

JQ has been hitting TC as well though… it’s more that SoR isn’t showing up as much due to that other game and TC sees an opening to get 3rd without tying.

Maybe you didn’t, but many of your server mates did stop showing up and are continuing not to show up. We saw your WvW population two weeks prior to leagues and it was certainly more than what we saw during leagues. Combined with the fact that you should’ve gained more players due to achievement hunters, it’s pretty clear that a lot of WvWers from your server stopped showing up.

If SOR do not take second this week, they will end in 4th spot on the ladder at the end of leagues. With the current balance between servers, there is no way SOR will come first next week. At best, they could take second, but that will not be enough. Both JQ and BG are much stronger than SOR and any attempt to double team will end badly for SOR because it will benefit another stronger server. The best they could hope for next week is second, which won’t be enough to get back into third place with the likelihood that TC will win their next matchup.

Its just not going to happen. TC have 3rd spot locked in as soon as they take second this week.

TC’s been going hard this week, a lot of dedication and they want it more.

Maybe you overestimate your own strength. Your server lost a significant number of people during this season. It’s a real shame IRON left SoR – they were one of your pillars of strength. It’s pretty clear when you’re losing to TC this week.

I’m very clear on where BG stands right now. I’m also aware on where JQ roughly stands compared to us. Perhaps you need to stop drinking Indo’s kool-aid. Your server is in a rough position and you need to shed your pride and rebuild your strength or slide down a tier or two (if that’s what’s needed to strengthen your core, hopefully not). Stating otherwise is just ignorant.

We were roughly equal in numbers just before leagues and it showed the last time we had that 3 way T1 fight two weeks before leagues, so it’s pretty clear to everyone that a lot of SoR stopped showing up.

lol @ rock demon, all that hate, BG won because you have greater coverage across all time zones, its been well shown in the past that the server who has the most coverage wins, you had a gap in your coverage so you filled it with ZD, they will leave after the season then you go back to the way you where before.

SoR will rebuild after the season ends, we have a great community and great commanders, alas there are only so many hours in a day that 1 can play this game, given the WvW guilds we’ve lost so far this season it makes it extremely difficult for the remaining guilds/players to cover that time etc etc,

If it takes SoR to drop a tier to regroup and come back so be it, if we do drop down, BG will have nothing to do in WvW, before the season stated the battles where great, JQ can maybe push BG for a few days, but TC, ( who will likely replace us in T1 ) I doubt would have the power/numbers to compete against BG week in week out, yes TC is beating SoR this week, but im guessing there putting in mega hours to keep that small 8-10k lead, because they can maybe steal 3rd place overall, so good for them if they can get that, it also makes sense for JQ to want TC to take 2nd this week, as it will all but make it that JQ will take 2nd overall.
