Must be that reason, they are mad, they can’t shut down their servers because we dont stop playing on their already paid game.

Heh. My guild was freaking out because I was in Silverwastes. Our primary driver said he will check on Sunday and maybe we will raid this week, but not likely.

I drive when he doesn’t. I am skipping. We are a havoc guild, not any reason for us to log on to WvW this week.

Seriously? Did you hire someone from Trion that worked on Arch Age? I’m a defensive commander, with those golems, I’m useless and BORED!! Since there’s nothing for me to do maybe I’ll visit Arch Age and see what’s happening there. Huge Fail!!

Seriously ANet before you do things like this consider this scenario:

Would the PvPers like it if it rendered a complete play style (defending) useless?

Would the PvEers like it if everything you faced was (even more than now) EZ mode?

If you are wondering why the forums have blown up over this you need look no further than EoTM. I am sure they love it there, as all they want is their 24/7 k train now made faster with cheap stronger mobile siege added. Those of us that enjoyed a more skill venue are now stuck with either EotM mark 2 or sitting this week out.

I myself will sit this week out save maybe filling in a few chores for my daily.

Bare minimum you need to pause glicko for the week. This isn’t WvW and shouldn’t be counted as such.

IMO golems taking 0 sup to build is probably the least game breaking issue right now. :P

Call me cynical but I do think there is some underhanded motive behind this whole golem event.

WvW for a long time now has been extremely stale and the players very jaded. The matchups are always the same. The time zones in which certain servers take turns dominating PvDing are always the same. It’s already a giant karma train with a few sprinkles of fights mixed in every blue moon.

The golem event is just a silly vacation from the monotony. It’s a week where players can just sit back and relax and not have to pretend that their efforts on the map actually matter. Golems or no golems, everything just flips contantly nowadays anyways. I welcome anything different, even if it’s silly.

I agree completely. When we have very few numbers on in the middle of the night it is usually enough to hold off a descent sized blob with just AC’s. Now they will be out of luck simply because a handful of golems can wreck a gate in less than a minute.

Also setting up a few ac’s to fend off the golems is useless, one omega can target and destroy ac’s very quick. Going to be EotM mark 2.

Title says everything, get rid of this kitten, we already knew u guys didnt not give a kitten about WvW, so please dont do this kittening kitten in here, do it on PVE where kittens actually like this kind of crap.

Golems event is stupid and should be stopped ASAP. You have a map blob dropping omegas non stop and just ktraining everything. That is not fun. Majority of people that are enjoying this stupid event are PvErs who don’t WvW 5-6 hrs a day for the COMBAT. Stop interfering with the best thing about GW2 – It’s combat and ability for group play. Stop trying to ‘spice’ up WvW with silly kitten like this. Instead do quality work on stuff that regular WvW players have been asking you for since launch. Fix the kitten WvW achievements before expansion hits so they can be achieved within a person’s lifetime…

This was not a very well considered idea. While occasional “Special Events” are not inherently a bad idea, the event should contribute something to the experience, not merely provide farce and spectacle.

I too would like to request we end this early. While I am glad ANet is trying to do something for WvW, this is not the direction to take things in. Please consider if you should embrace substance over novelty in the future.

Keep it only for EOTM then, WvW needs fun stuff that caters that what its playerbase likes, those that want to get a feel for it (as someone posted) have the EOTM which is essentially a “get to know the essentials” map.

WvW should be getting a fun tournament or something, not this train wreck that has everyone dropping from WvW.

Friday nights on my server (FA) used to be a lot of fun with people entering in droves on the maps to help get that bit of a headstart following the reset. It was a lot of fun and I could get some excitement from solo roaming and joining a zerg here and there.

Today it is just a mess, no commander wants to stick around, it is just golems running left and right… pure chaos and people dropping out of the maps. EB had a slight queue but the rest had nothing…. from maps that always had queues on Friday nights to no queue at all…. yeah the event is a failure and we are most likely stuck with it through the weekend cause ANET does nothing on weekends.

There are some questions I would loved to be answered. Why chose this style of event?
Where is the fun supposed to be had? Explain the reasoning behind this event, since it had to be sold to someone sitting at a table during a meeting.

If they are changing badges, tell us, if they are trying to get rid of the over abundance of Golems be up front about it, if we know why we have to put up with this rubbish and its for a week then maybe everyone wouldnt be kicking up, but as it stands Anet just ruined the only game mode I enjoyed for no reason than for some karma trainers to have a laugh which they could already do in EotM.

I lasted 15mins, 30 secs from gate to lord down, this is NOT fun.

I just got off playing with my partner on the normal map, we had a fun time, till we got slaughter, taking the bay, I swear they came out of no where. Funny thing was, they tries to take our garsion, and we ended up slaughtering them back. It a shame i do feel tired from working, or I would have played more, but on the bright side, there was a bunch on for my late night.

Yup. Everyone is running around doing 100% more damage. It’s kittened.

Hey I do realize that there are currently many threads about this, but I figured that its such a big issue that its worth mentioning as many times as possible.

+100% Dmg Buff to other players ?!, 7k Autoattacks with a golem, i mean if thats not a proof that Anet is trolling WvW people i don´t know. Only somebody who has no clue how WvW works could come up with such an idea. Stop that bullcrap Anet, it´s stupid and not fun at all.

That make no sense, since the number of golems deployed is heavily limited by supply.

The reason is probably much simpler than this.

They had a meeting and the question “What can we do for WvW?” was thrown out. Some noob intern (probably, at least thats what Anet will state) jokingly blurted out “I know, lets double the damage, speed and make golems cost 0 supps, lol”. Everone laughed. The intern laughed at his own joke. The PvE team started joking about letting everyone play as the Shatterer instakilling everything.

When the laughs had died out, the lead dev asked “Does the WvW team has any objections?”. Everyone sat there, quietly waiting for the response from the WvW team, probably something witty and sarcastic.

“OK since no one objects we roll with Golem event, the meeting is concluded”

I’m having a blast during this event, the amount of golems is awesome and hilarious. I think you guys just need to remember this is a game and try to have some goofy fun every once in awhile.

The golem rush was awesome! Although I think next time a little more in-depth explanation on what was being sold would have eased tensions for some players.

Don’t pay attention to the small negative reviews. They are mad because their servers lost horridly to their own blob game. Those people cry/complain about defeat on an average basis anyway. Not worth your time!

We’ve known this was coming for a while, and although Alpha blueprints spiked a bit they came back down. You can buy them with badges anyway. Our BL has just been pretty trashed by one of our opponents – they realised it was golem week before us (nice spot guys!).

BUT!

You CAN kill golems with canons and arrow carts. Yes it’s a bit harder. Yes the golems move faster and do more damage, but it IS possible to stop them.

Sure we’ll see a different play style for a week – and that’s a long time – but I’ve stayed with my server on a drop from T3 to T8 and I’m not going to stop playing WvW just because ANET tried something different for a week out of the years I’ve played (from original beta).

I don’t want this to be the new WvW, but I’m willing to adapt for a short time because next week is a new day (as it were).

If you REALLY don’t like it, take a 1 week holiday (I know you don’t want to but at least you won’t be taking part in something you don’t like). If you’re feeling adventurous, hop in a golem and try it…. you might even enjoy yourself! I was also sceptical at first, but it can be fun and golem duels are something new to learn!

Hahaha thats not even the real issue. Right now the issue is the golem buff bug. Ur not wondering why the enemy is hitting you a lot harder? Its because they are exploiting right now. you can have a 20 man zerg buffed a 100% damage right now.

Nononono that is not “trying to do something”.

They’ve abandoned that gamemode for now. This is even more proof of it.

You wouldnt say that when players are cheating with the golem bug right now. you gain the damage buff to players without being in a golem. I ran into a guardian with the buff who one shotted me with his auto attack. But your right a game is supposed to be fun but getting owned repeatedly by this cheat is not fun. Its down right griefing new players like me. Im sad I even taught wvw could be fun. Yup I am a noob only rank 50 but even with my guild mates the rewards and the current event makes me meh about wvw.

Ill go back to PVE and make a lot more gold with better rewards. With some fun events and such.

Ran into a guild in Ehmry Bay where every player was exploiting this bug. It was quite obvious that they knew what they were doing .They were trampling everyone in their path and couldn’t be defeated . Now according to the rules this sort of behavior (" intentional exploitation of a bug for personal gain") is unacceptable .What is Anet planning on doing about this.
