Having seen months of giant golem rushes over the past year, one thing has become clear to me. Golems should have a fixed lifespan of an hour or two that cannot be refreshed. They should not work like fixed siege. Watching a server build omegas for a day or two on a map then rush dozens of them when the enemy population is low is a great strategy but a poor mechanic.

These same golems are often used over and over to keep a map flipped. They are rushed in such large numbers with rotating shields that defending even relatively fortified objectives is incredibly difficult.

I am not complaining about a specific incident as I have been on both sides of these attacks, but attack siege and siege mastery has become too powerful.

I think they are fine as is, sever stacking and population needs to be fixed before they take away a viable strategy from under pop severs.

I think they are fine as is, sever stacking and population needs to be fixed before they take away a viable strategy from under pop severs.

Omegas are stronger than sup rams as they have better defense, can kill defensive siege and can hammer a wall. The fact that they move and can be kept up an entire week is ridiculously OP. This wouldn’t be a problem if 20+ Omegas couldn’t capture a fully upgraded T3 in a few dozen seconds. There is no part of this design that is balanced or makes any practical sense.

So my suggestion stands, reduce the longevity thus preventing piling up a ridiculous amount of mobile siege or gut the damage golems can unleash.

I really think this is a learn to play issue ,if you place guards and refresh siege you can stop a golem rush, I have pulled a lot of guard time at water gate garri, it takes one guy/gal on the cannon to stop the rush or at least hold it back while reinforcements arrive. And seeing as you have a heck of a lot more players than us it shouldn’t be an issue to get a few trained guards, it can be boring but it will pay off 100fold.

This isn’t a YB/HoD thing… this is a WvW mobile siege issue. Few servers have a population that can defend 24×7 so what some groups do is build golems during peak hours and rush them during off hours. Once they get a critical mass there is little a server without round the clock coverage can do.

If they are spotted it usually doesn’t matter unless a server can round up 50 people in under a minute. Besides, one or two mesmers can get the golems onto a door or wall long before a scout will see them and bring down siege in a couple seconds.

No T3 keep should be able to be flipped as fast as 20+ Omegas can. It is made even worse that they can be used on all the keeps and towers on a map without having to rebuild.

When we faced YB, we repelled 2 giant golem rushes, back to back on hills (10 golems, then 15 golems).

Golems do not automatically = success. I have no issues with golems, and they are a viable strategy. A good golem rush has to be planned and executed well. The cost in supply, gold, and the time to build them all, is a balancing factor as well.

Learn to defend.

I agree but don’t think they should nerf golems. For some servers, it’s the counter to population/coverage issues.

Keep Golems the same. It takes practice and coordination to make them effective. If anything cap the map at 20 omegas.

Well all I can say is WvWvW is a 24/7 “war” seeing as they are not going to fix sever pop golems help the smaller sever fight against the super stacked one that outnumbers them, That also happens to not care about defending tier three keeps…. It’s really simple, if my undermanned sever can mange to have guards around the clock there is no excuse for larger severs not to do the same. I’m sticking with it’s a learn to play issue.

Dear Straegen, I so do not feel your pain. Your over pop server has it too good already.
This is about game play period. Your oversized guilds on off hours (Wolf to name one) with 50+ zergs are winning you weeks, for you. Any other server that can find a way to make it harder for you, are bad people? Please take your reward and slink back under the rock you came from.

I have built 40 omegas and destroyed a map for a laugh. I have built 50 alphas and forgot about the 2nd oil on EB red keep gate and watched them melt. It was funny.

If you feel mad/sad because someone took your WvW objective, I have bad news. You over value your time spent in a game. Your time isn’t worth anything to anyone but you. Get over it.
