Question for the community-

My wife loves WvW, mainly keep/tower scouting and defense. However she is probably one of the worst at actually fighting another human being in combat. She understands this and plays to her strengths (one of the many reasons I love her).

We are looking into a classes for her to level that can fit the scouting role. My first thought was thief utilizing all the stealth tools for speed and disengages but I was wondering if there were any other thoughts on solid scouting classes with the tools to get into seiged keeps.

Thanks!

Scouting is play thief or go home. If you really wanna get crazy, get sentinel’s gear and trait stealth bunkering. Enjoy never dying to anything and running all the places.

Your first thought was probably right one. Thief traited and geared for stealth and escape is best for scouting especially if fighting is not priority. Such thief doesn’t have massive spike like most zerker thieves and even such thief does not have ability to mitigate enough damage for sustained fights. It relies solely on ability to stealth and escape.

The thief is probably the best bet. I have seen some VERY fast warriors and recently a ridiculously fast ranger that might work but stealth is the ultimate in dropping target and avoidance. The thief is a very fast class making them excellent at recon, yak killing and with the shortbow has some decent siege skills. A defensive thief build might work. Haven’t played it but this build sure would be fast and slippery:

Stealing allows this build to cross a map very quickly. Stealing from critters will frequently give a lot of mobility with Thrill of the Crime. Another big advantage of the thief is the learning curve is pretty light at least for being a scout and half decent solo fighter.
