It would be really nice if we had a guesting system so guilds could get together for WvW. Right now, if your guild doesn’t happen to be all on the same server, you can’t do any WvW together, and transferring is too expensive to do often. As long as the servers of everyone involved are not in direct opposition at the time, it would really help to let guilds all squad up and go to a WvW together.

That MIGHT have been TRUE before server LINKING.

Players can find other players they like playing with and join their guild but can get stuck once the servers become unlinked. Servers are really a dumb concept that are impossible to balance at least in every RvR game I have played.

Not really… For most worlds (all but 4 servers for NA), you can simply get them to transfer. It’s only 500 gems for the majority of servers. If your guild can’t afford that, well, probably not worth joining that guild in the first place, as it shows their priority isn’t in keeping the community on one server.

This may come as a shock but not every guild is willing to pull out their cards to transfer everyone around; especially if said members have friends on multiple servers and they cannot choose between them all.

No. Sorry.

If you truly all want to play together for WvW, you have to decide collectively as a guild whether WvW is important to you. If it is, then you need to transfer down to an open server so you can all play together.

Not jam into an already full one.

If WvW isn’t that important to you, then you can carry on spread out across multiple servers.

P.S. You CAN all get together in EoTM, assuming you’re all green/all red/all blue.

I agree.

I think guild leaders should be able to choose a server that their guild will belong to (or perhaps the guild’s server is whatever the leader’s server is, automatically), and all members of that guild should be able to jump into the action for their guild’s home server momentarily. This is true unless your home server is in war with your guild’s server; then you automatically take your home server as the only option to fight for. This would fill up WvW more than usual (however there is a danger lower tiers would empty even more aswell) and make it more organised as usual (cause of guild groups). Also it would make PvE guilds easier to jump into WvW for an evening or two without losing a plethora of gold and patience cause everybody is on their own server.

I love this idea, it’s a shame we cannot always play with guildies, I agree.

guesting will never work. too much manipulating to get around full status. TC wants more people to fight of DB/BG – start a guild or recruit ANYONE anywhere to guild and they guest to a full server….

Bg/DB want TC out of their tier, guest to JQ or Mag to destroy the other the other servers helping to push one up…

All servers I used could be replaced by any other – they are just examples of the manipulation that would occur….

If we are all to be mercenaries, just get rid of servers altogether…….

But could this limit not be approved to the guilds aswell? Just equally everybody registering a guild would have to link it to a non-full server. That’s one way to even out the server population across the tiers even.

It would be really peculiar to have a guild with members on worlds that are matched with each other to hop between servers to take Bay on server 1, then retake it on server 2 and then again on server 3. The train would be massive.

If I am wrong, then OK, but this is how the system would end up being used without limitations of not allowing guests on a full server. If the main server the guild is on isn’t full or has a link, then there already is a way to play with them…

The way I understood it, it’s simply a way of playing WvW with your guildies. No full servers or whatsoever. The problem that occurs is, you have a guild of 50 players. 10 of them are on one server, the other 40 on others. The cost to get those 40 to the main server would be insane, so it would be nice, if they could simply guest on the main server through the guild guesting system; that is ofcourse, if the server is not full.

Ofcourse whole guilds guesting on full servers would be game breaking and silly; if this was indeed what the OP wanted, I agree with you. It should be avoided. But general guild guesting is fine imo, because I often want to play with guildies too, but can’t. :<

Guilds themselves created the issue to begin with by transferring. I’m not opposed to transferring and in fact was one of the guys whose guild transferred while I was on a hiatus. When I came back, I was alone. I basically had two options… build money to move if/when the server ever opened up… or change guilds.

If the destination guild moves to a server that is commonly ‘full’ … I would have left the guild and found a new home.

If guilds created the issue, they should resolve it. If they don’t want to move down to accommodate their own, and the player is unwilling to change guilds to accommodate active play within there new found world post hiatus, then it’s a waiting game to see what comes first … server opening / player quitting.

I’m not sure Anet would support a guesting feature to unlinked full servers… a server is full because the calculations (whatever and however those are derived) determined the world was full. A full world with guild members stuck in other worlds (like i was) is no different than say … one world – when it comes to WvW. If you follow … because things are based on accounts, changing it to base things on guilds in order to accommodate the guys unable to move … breaks whatever math and logic is being used to set world capacities.

… in the end the only way to ever help the players out is to wipe the worlds out into alliances and open maps based on active play time throughout.

But that comes with issues too. The cost for moving is a moot point, because the guilds who are in this situation are in it because of moving worlds so often. So they have the money, maybe not every guild member … but that’s a guild & player issue. It sucks though.

or recruited from a linked world that is no longer linked – but they knew they wouldn’t be linked forever so still a guild / player issue…..

I only see this issue growing over time… guilds move worlds, players take breaks, guilds recruit from linked worlds, world pairing change… and we have no guild HR rep who can manage to keep it under control

Not to mention some people are in multiple guilds that don’t happen to all be on the same world, because people become friends from other things than WvW, etc.
