Now, I’m not exactly sure how Guild Claiming works at the moment, but I do know one thing: I see far too many keeps and towers with absolutely no guildbonus, while claimed.
Now, I don’t know if you can “kick out” a useless guild from a keep by claiming it for your guild with bonuses active, but if you can’t kick out useless guilds, there should be an option to do so.
If some random person just goes “lol claim click!”, he’s potentially draining away 10% more hp, 10% more healing, 40 power, and so on from the structure, and what is the good guild supposed to do about this?

Does anyone know if it works this way? If you can not in fact kick out a useless guild, then there’s the next must-have feature of WvW right there.

Its more or less broken, guild ownership should be based on who pays for the most for upgrades, not whoever claims it first.

Or it shouldn’t cost influence when you want the bonuses. How about making some really expensive cost then it’s just permanent bonus for any claimed location.

Also how about this wrench. In the lower tiers it seems guilds don’t feel it’s worth spending. If the a server feels the location is going to flip in 10 minutes many guilds won’t pay the cost.

Guild claiming sounds like it would work for much larger and conquerable world design rather than these arena like locations. I think they should be cheaper or permanent purchases for the current WvW maps.

That’s the thing there isn’t a relinquish claim option other than to lay claim to another place like a Supply Camp.
Lets be honest there are a lot of guilds whom just think it’s cool to have their logo flying above somewhere, with little regards to what is really required and quite frankly till ArenaNet get things sorted with the Karma Zerg Turtles where places change hands like confetti, quite a few larger guilds are not putting the time and effort into wasting their resources.
The main basis of Guild Claiming is that a guild lays claim to a spot and that announces to their allies that they are going to look after that area to the best of their ability, which should in theory release the manpower of any non guild member to aid the rest of the map, but sadly at this moment in time this is not the case for one simple fact.
The game is still in its infancy and a lot of players are far from being endgame, hence their needed for roaming in the hunt for any form of XP, Karma and Loot they can get.
As for the guild bonuses that are built over time from influence, these only last for 12 hours, plus take a hell of a lot of influence to speed ready them, should there be a need for constant bonus.
But here again there is a flaw in the system with the major night capping or day capping call it what you will, why waste influence, cash, as well the time, only to return after a sleep to see it all gone
