Ok so I’ll try to be as simple and to the point with an explanation of what I need help with from a staff member preferably. Currently I am on HOD however I am unhappy with the server and don’t have a guild there on the other hand the guild I’m in is on Dragonbrand. Now Tarnished Coast and Black Gate are both trying to recruit me also so I have options to move around however I read in a recent forum post with the changes to the servers for WvW that there is a lower server cap for the larger servers.

This puts me at a huge disadvantage because it means to be able to play with any of those servers I would first have to transfer to a lower tier one that’s paired up with the higher tier one I had in mind. I personally believe this way of handling things is kinda pointless considering it doesn’t promote people playing with their guilds as much as it promotes the other servers playing together.

The next issue I’m faced with is how the new volatility system is set up even if I transfer to lets say Sanctum of Rall for the ability to play with Dragonbrand and the guild I hope to help out then I’m not guaranteed they will pair up with the new updates that will be released soon.

So should I take my 500Gems and transfer now or wait till after the updates go through? Because I don’t want to keep spending my cash on gems just to be able to play with my guild and friends. As it stands right now I haven’t been able to play with them in WvW for around a month of so ever sense I got on HOD and I haven’t been playing even though I’m excited and happy about the old Alpine maps being back.

All I’m asking for is a straight answer on how to fix this situation I’m in because I want to play the game I paid good money for not to mention with the amount of times I transferred in the past I don’t want to spend more cash only to get ripped off.

You just have to wait it out if you want to join those stacked servers. Otherwise, you’re just taking your chances by server hopping to the linked lower tiered server.

If cost is the issue, I agree with Blockhead: wait it out for your preferred server to be available. Linked worlds are in beta/test mode at the moment and subject to change early and often, for reasons yet to be established.

On the other hand, if you care more about who you play with rather than cost, spend the gems now. To be sure: 500 gems is a lot, especially if you’re converting from gold. On the other hand: playing in the ‘wrong’ server and without your friends just to save 130 gold seems penny-wise and pound-foolish (or dollar-/euro-foolish).

Put another way: even if it’s only for 2 months, I personally value playing with the people I want to a lot more than a fancy weapon skin, which costs a lot more than the 130 gold to transfer to the ‘wrong’ server. Your mileage will vary.

Maybe you could get a f2p account to play on the other server. You’d have to level at least one char to 80 and it won’t have elite specs, but you can email it exotic gear, sigils/runes and gold (it won’t be able to return the items/gold later so do it sparingly).

Also a good idea, especially if your main goal is playing together.
