Nar: I love that it will take me time and money to
reach the same level I’m at right now… …said no one, ever.
There seriously needs to be a way to prevent or remove a guilds claim on a location if the do not want to run buffs.
A system where the guild with the most buffs running gets to claim should be implemented. It is a real shame to see after many hours of besieging stone mist castle to finally capture it and an unknown random guild (who does not own up to taking ownership of the castle) putting the defenders at a significant disadvantage. Now It may or may not have been a malicious attempt of sabotage, but it still needs to be fixed regardless.
Everyone knows the best time to strike a castle is after it as been freshly flipped and not being able to utilise buffs earned (and in some cases paid for with the gold purchasable influences items) only makes a defence harder still.
I would suggest a system whereby a guild can claim a location only if it has more buffs active than the existing guild would solve this problem. Any attempt to ‘steal’ a claim would only better the servers chances to defend the location.
I would be interested in your thoughts Anet.
Thanks
I wrote a suggestion about this, it got moved to the suggestion forum, instead of leaving it here to be discussed
That make perfect sense scince the bulk of wvw players don’t go outside the wvw section

That’s sort of what I felt. :/
Well I don’t think it would be very hard to implement. All it would have to do would be to check a guilds number of active buffs against the owner.
And even if the owners buffs run out in a short period of time after claiming, the system would still be allowed to accept a new guilds ownership if they have buffs.
Everyone’s a winner! (except for attackers, but they deserve to have a hard time lol)
Or maybe I am the only one who cares about this kinda thing?
Eh, actually, there is.
It’s called – The guild does the most damage output during the capture has the ability to claim halls.
ANet specifically gives them priority to claim first.
Now, the question is, how are you going to convince them to activate the guild buff.
I don’t think buffs are the only consideration.

I’d be more inclined to go with auto-unclaiming an installation when no members from the guild have been representing in the zone for a period of time (perhaps 12 hours) and there are no buffs.
Why? Because it’s possible for a guild to be doing a great job defending an installation without buffs and they shouldn’t be ousted by another guild if they’re putting the effort in. Our guild held a BL tower for over 50 hours in the last match, starting with buffs, but then maintaining siege and a constant presence. If another guild could just claim over all our upgrades, siege and time while we were still active I’d be pretty miffed.
Focussing on buffs though, there are some issues to work through.
I’ll leave it there as this is not meant to be a post against the idea, I think some mechanics could be improved here.
One things that would really help is to include a method for a guild to unclaim other than by them claiming another structure. A simple: “we unclaim” option would be great.
Perhaps a combination of the two ideas may be a solution, ie. no buffs and no guild representation. A guild that wants to claim an already claimed installation could request unclaiming. If the guild currently ‘in residence’ does not respond within a given timeframe (15 or 30 minutes?) the re-claiming is allowed.
You could always ask the guild to claim a supply point to relinquish hold on a tower or put up buffs. Has this been tried?
If you don’t have active buffs = no claim for you.
Simple.

Yes you could ask this if you would know who to ask. IF: you know who to ask.
At the moment the information given to us players to make communication better is very poor in WvWvW as a whole.
With claimed objectives so far i only can see the guild emblem and that doesn’t tell me who to aproach unless it’s a well known guilbanner. But well known guildbanners often come from active guilds that don’t need to be asked such things….
On topic: I think firstly we wil see an “unclaim” feature for members of a guild ( it’s already there in the guildranks tickboxes), it’s just not functioning as of now.
Overall an override system where guilds with more buffs can overtake an object isn’t a bad thing. Giving a notice to the guild currently in charge a short amount of time to put up buffs of themselfs. 15-30 min is suggested and that sounds ok to me.
As to what buffs are better then others i would say:
More buffs wins from less, in case of a tie current owner holds claim.
Just my 2 cents,
Have Fun.

- What would be the order of precedence of buffs? Is +40 Toughness superior to +40 Vitality?
- What about the usurped guild’s buffs? They’re now available but unused, they’ve wasted their influence and build times.

I was thinking the simplest way: 1 buff is more than 0. 2 buffs are more than 1, and so forth. Not actually caring about WHICH buffs there are.
Or just the simples: Anything that’s 1 or more, is more than 0.
I became very annoyed the other day when I claimed a keep for my guild and began upgrades there but also fully upgraded the camp nearby only to see that a guild had claimed my hard work upgrading the camp… I thought “Hey, I’m gonna pick up supply now and get an additional five….” nope… they just wanted to make my expense look like their own.
I’ve also found that I’m having to upgrade locations claimed by other guilds who either didn’t plan ahead and had to go to bed or just want the claiming rights so they can see their pretty logo on a bunch of banners.
PLEASE add guild tags below the logo so we can see whose claiming what. Buffs I don’t mind so much, I only activate ours when we’re under attack as per guild leaders say so.
Point of emblems are to be significant in representing the guild, maybe you should just learn what emblems are associated with what guild. Of course you’re probably not on a server with only 6 guilds like me..
