Guild incentive for participation in WvW
This is bad actually. You would claim something that you don’t even want to.
And it have profits actually – upgrades from Art of War can give defenders of claimed keep/tower bonuses to stats/hp/magic find etc.

Claim has no disadvantage, so it ll be no problem.
And profits, those are public profits not guild specific.
@rhodoc
Have you played GW2 and claimed something? Yes? Ok go to guild upgrades and please explain me how taking a keep and popping 1-2-3- buffs have no effect.
I m not saying those upgrades are not usefull. They works only around forts and those are not guild specific profit and does not have any incentive for guild members to join that battle.

But guild may NOT WANT TO claim some location, while other guild want.
The guild incentive is more influence and I think this is fine. As Massacrul said, there are many situations where a guild would not want to claim an area. Guilds can only have one camp/fort claimed at a time and this would cause claim to jump to another location. This causes problems with the Art of War buffs – for example, I wouldn’t want people to take an additional 5 supply from front line fortifications that need the supply. This also wouldn’t allow for communication and cooperation between guilds.
One thing, why would you want just guild specific profits. This is a server wide battle. I’m more than ok with giving my benefits to the whole server, b/c it contributes to us winning more than if it was just my guild. Leave it the way it is. There are bigger things to fix.

how is there not any incentive for a guild to play WvW? here is one incentive: it’s pretty fun to work with your guild to capture objectives.
i hope this crazy realization helps.

@Gao, yep, that’s how it is for my guild.
Addressing OP, we have many cases where 1 guild has the 15 supply buff, and others don’t. So we generally base who claims it with who has the +5 supply buff…if no one has buffs none of us bother to claim it.
Perhaps if a guild claims a location, they get bigger rewards for defending it and cheaper upgrades? just a thought.
