Guild vs Guild in WvW - What now?
I thought windmill (BL/southern point) was such area – respect fights there, the rest ‘red is dead’.
Windmill in BLs is standard and consolidated place for GvG already.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.

Zeu, as the other 2 people already said just S of the S camp in any BL where the windmill is, is the known place for GvG’s to happen — usually its far enough S where the Camp doesn’t even matter..
Yup, Windmill.
It’s a redundant area of flat land with two entry points… I honestly think the WvW map designers put this land into the map for emergent gameplay. It’s a nice spot when the trolls stay away.

Usually it is far enough, but not always it seems from other posts. Would be nice if Anet just move / or remove that camp until such time they can accommodate such events.
The problem is not the place but the population caps.
I like GvG and it is a lot of fun, but WvW is not meant for it.
Thes best example to be given of this is when you do GvG you might spend hours on a map not contribution to the map while eating up map spots.
I’ve seen this a few times where a BL map is undermanded and guilds fighting for keeps and objectives have members stuck in queue with 30-40 people at standing around doing / watching GvG.
I do not fault the GvG’ers for this but something needs to change. It’s hurting everyone.
Imo, sPvP is kind of GuildWars 1.5 The real pvp in GW2 is WvWvW, but the queues to the borderland when there will be GvG are too annoying.
Would be awesome to make a separated/instance with its own queue and population like the jumping puzzle of EB. Similar to the south windmil area, kind of stadium.
The best spot = Eternal Battleground JP entrance.
You have 3 nice spot to watch the show from above and waypoint to come back quickly

i full agree ….

I would guess that is not enough room and a bit tricky of terrain for most guilds to consider but now that the Obsidian Sanctum has been removed from the WvW map population cap it does make the most logical sense as the place to go. I propose ANET further remove that map to make it a stand alone bonus place for non competitive WvW with nothing that counts towards the over all score, a small above ground portal zone with merchants for each side and one npc guarded takeable structure (no siege allowed anywhere on the map) that gives access to the underground points into the jumping puzzle portion of the map and then slap a huge open field with limited mobs on top of it for open GvG (Agramon from DAoC reborn). Problem solved and it probably turn into a dueling gankers paradise as well.
I have noticed an increase in GvG happening away from the Windmill lately and it has caused some confusion. Not sure about the reason why but maybe some GvGers can explain.

The issue of JP happen way before playing in it.
Problem is that you can’t q for the JP: you have to get trough EB.
In prime time.
The most played border.
Where even smallest servers have ques, let alone guilds playing on big ones.
And you still have to hold your keep to get in.
And if you need to respanw you need to go in EB again.
So, the problem is that it’s just not possible to arrage getting 40 + ppl in EB JP in prime time for a GvG.

GvG needs to be introduced into the game.
gw2gvg.com proves how many guilds are interested in something like this.
Did a few GvG yesterday and they were a pain to do because of the queues really, 1 guy disconnects and he is in queue for an hour.
GvG should just happen. Teams should stop setting up fights and start roaming every night purely looking for fights with the same guilds they’d be setting up fights with. Puts a whole lot more strategy into the game. Ppt, leave that for the zerglets. 5 mans have been talking about all your “GvG” (some fancy name there) for the past year and just now it’s taking hold with you folks. START ROAMING LOOKING FOR FIGHTS, not roaming looking for camps and towers to take. Fighting coordinated small mans is 1000x more skillful than taking npcs down or using siege………….
I propose all guilds with the balls to defy this nonsense charge in and crush these “honourable” scum.

I like ur style, shouldn’t be set up fights. That’s a carebear way to pvp. Should be roaming guilds vs guild…. Sack up on real battlefields not set up ones.
What I thought was the most interesting about these GvG events was the almost sandbox-like nature of them. We have a bunch of people from different servers all grouping together, some doing the main event, some sitting in the crowds watching, some costume brawling/playing their instruments, some trolling the event by jumping in, or attacking/pushing audience members… to which the bouncers single them out and remove them. Then of course the crowd rioting when they’ve watched their team get cheated one too many times.
That’s my favourite part of any GvG event I’ve come across, just the interaction amongst people. You could almost call it a Role Playing Game, in which there is a Massive amount of Multiple players all playing Online.
To preserve that aspect, it would be really cool if there could be a sandbox-y, or at least non-structured and map to use.

This I tend to agree with. If a GvG was something that took up only 10-15 minutes on the map then so be it. But if you have 30-40 people of your map queue waiting and doing GvG’s for an hour, or more, it can start to hurt your server. I don’t blame, or accuse the GvG people for doing this, since non-keep/tower stuff can be great, and there really is no other option. I think it’d be great in they gave us another WvW map that was more dedicated to this (i.e. a smaller map with maybe 1 tower and a few camps, and fit 50-60 people per side).

Come on down to us lower rated servers. Don’t have to worry about queues. You can have your GvG’s and then come in and help us fight the good fight and kick some server tail.
Oh, and I would think the best place for it would be the vast wasted space in the NE and NW of the map.
For me to care about GvG it would have to be objective based. That’s just a personal preference though, I understand there are plenty of deathmatch PvP enthusiasts. To me, non-objective based PvP limits build creativity, and lack of varied terrain limits strategy.
It needs it’s own arena, or sPvP maps caps raised to 20-30 (although many GvG guilds wouldn’t like that since it limits builds).
Too many times I’ve been on a queued map, fighting an 80 man zerg with 10-15 players, desperately trying to hold upgraded keeps that people have spent hours/days securing. When I ask where everyone is? GvGing or spectating.
Any smart enemy will roll out the 10 golem rush as soon as they see a prominent guild GvGing.

Those spaces offer more varied terrain, but there are logistical issues. Lack of easy access routes for all teams and high-density mobs mostly. The space near the windmill is just the easiest to get to and about the only place without trash mobs for random rallies.
