Guild wars 2 from a wvw POV
Guild Wars is lore thing. It has absolutely nothing to do with game mode.

I support GvG system… but not in WvW. Many players, me included, love WvW for what it is – a dirty game with no rules, where power is power and no one asks if it’s skill or numbers or coverage.
Also, making WvW more depending on guild groups wouldn’t reduce bobbing – opposite, it’d increase it. How do you want PUG players (including players who don’t raid with guild at this time) to fight organized groups if not with numbers?
Personally I think ANet hoped custom arenas will become GW2 GvG, and tbh I also think it should, as they use, just like GW1 GvG, PvP characters and balance. It’s players who decided 10v10 is not enough, maps aren’t good enough and skill balance is better for them in PvE/WvW. Hopefully devs do something about it, coz I’m bored of guild meta in WvW – but for a different reason than you
Some of you may flame me for this, but is a “proper” GvG system something healthy for the game?
Looking at the current GvG guilds (generally speaking) they seem to breed an arrogant and spiteful attitude towards the rest of their server population. Often using abusive language in voice comms, leaving pugs in the ditch when things go south, systematically chase away people who just want to have fun (even when it is a not a real GvG going on but just random raiding). I have seen this myself, guilds who didnt care much for GvG but wanted to atleast try it, and within months, grew sour and arrogant. Laying blame on the pugs, when their own command failed.
Is “feeding and nurturing” such a tendency something we and arena net should do?
sPvP already have these issues, but they are not so prevalent as you can choose between “Solo Q” and “Team Q”. So the “epic pro” teams run Team Q and therefore these attitudes does not go to show very often. In WvW you can only choose between WvW and WvW. Adding a arena for the GvG to fight in, solves nothing. In that case, they can just make a few bigger sPvP maps with 15v15 and 20v20 battles, without the conquest mode.
I honestly can not see anything good come out of “GvG” guilds given the current (generally speaking) knee jerk attitude that such guilds seem to breed.
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
They cant make GvG because guilds wouldnt play WvW anymore causing it to be ghost town.
The lack of GvG is my biggest disappointment in GW2.
Sure maps like EOTM are beautiful and interesting, but nothing will beat a perfectly balanced gametype with a guild ladder.
“Guild War” is the solution to the general balance and staleness problems in WvW. If guilds could align with each other and even declare war on each other, the matching system could align guilds together each week to fight other aligned guilds. Each new match could shuffle guilds around creating fresh matches every week. Based on some play metrics the system could even create a somewhat set of balanced matches each week. So rather than fight for XYZ server, players would be fighting for their guild alliance. Scoreboards would be converted from servers to guild rankings paving the way for a lot more competition to be top guild dog.
Looking at the current GvG guilds (generally speaking) they seem to breed an arrogant and spiteful attitude towards the rest of their server population.
Most guild groups are young avid game players and that is just how they speak to each other. One log into CoD or similar FPS and GW2 will seem tame under the worst conditions. As for disliking non-guild players, ANet has set it up that way. “Rallybots” are frustrating so guild groups simply do not want them around. If they removed rally on kill, that situation would improve immensely.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
Lore is just lore, lore doesnt affect the way i play my game or what the games provides to me, i just said that, lets say except the lore, nothing else in the game seems to be “Guild Wars”.
You said that a GvG system will take the guild out of wvw making it a ghost town, i will answer to you that atm guilds go round by round by round in the ONLY one arena in OS and by that one gvg can take up to 2h to finish. Thats why i said a good and easy to make start for this will be if ANET dublicates the arena one or two more times in the OS.
About the “pubs” adding to guild fights in the open field, yes they do and yes they will never stop doing it. Its an open field fight, there is no rule, except the respect a good fight instead of adding watch it, but loot seems to be a nice attraction to the pubs. And being a duchbag to the people who added isnt the best way to handle these type of situations. Just accept that it will happen and go over.
Remove rally on kill? Bad idea mate. Even guild vs guild fights can turn arround from one rally. As i said, accept it that pubs will add and go over it.
Yes, ANET tryed to give a “gvg” solution with the spvp arenas, sorry ANET, i cant do my wvw builds in there, there is so much more modification on a build outside of spvp.
About the Hardcore WvW Guilds attitude to the server, YES there are guilds that are a bunch of irrogant people, but there are also guilds that arent. kitten there are pubs players that are blaming everyone in the map chat orso but there are also players that have a decent attitude. Whats the difference?
I didnt sayed that giving guilds more influence benefits in the wvw will reduce the blobing that much. But it will give something back to the people and to their guilds. At this moment being a fan of “Upgrading & Sieging” part of wvw the only thing you get in return you know what is it? You get nothing. You spend all that money and siege to upgrade and you have nothing in return, its like ANET wants everything wooden so wvw will be a Qdale karma trying where there are some walls and gates between you and your champion loot. Funny, isnt it?
Buff.
