This is a good matchup, shame I can’t read this thread properly. Perhaps posting a generic answer will cure that!

It was much closer in points at the start of the week but my understanding is that Piken got an influx of Russians? So thats the nightshift sorted and it really shows in the points score as Piken rapidly rocketed ahead of us (I am not downplaying the quality of fights at prime time, its just an observation that the difference in scores accelerated).

Piken has basically always dominated Prime Time, its simply was a Med pop server with absolutely no off peak, day or night. Why the imporvement in WvW rankings and Score? Basically 3 simple things.

1. The middle ranked High pop servers are all losing guilds and HC WvW players to the T1/T2 servers, Piken has been little affected by this, yes it lost one very good guild but it was a prime time guild too and our prime time was overkill tbh so had very little effect on our score/coverage, while migration has likely hurt alot of middle ranked servers.

2. Due to the long term nature of the community friendships and bonds have grown and all the off peak players have got to know eachother and are now just working better together and meeting up and making groups this never happened before this week.

3. The new Russians, I can’t gauge what effect they have on night shift, day shift but certainly coming home to a 2-300 score instead of 100 has made a difference the past few days.

So yeah. It’s not a lack of a nightshift / dayshift thats hurting the other servers it’s the fact they no longer have as big advantage off peak to use against us as Piken no longer has nothing off peak so doesn’t lose all the points and lead it earned during prime time to bigger servers that had bigger off peak numbers.

Pikens lead isn’t due to off peak night capping, it due to taking a 380-500 score every night in prime time and no longer losing it in 15mins to night capping servers, an AM guy even said it on this thread, he misses the “It’s 23.00, start the Piken have went to bed raid and take it all back for the night and day” but hey ho they adapted its not the 6am cap it all raid instead

Actually the russians have had no impact on the night shift- I should know cause i’ve been part of it. They are on in the morning. During the nights its been mostly TUP+others in one BL holding off superior numbers of Gunnars and then “out lasting” them and taking things back, just ask reaping While we + friends hold the gunnars blob in a zone for aslong as we can, our good friends in EB have free reign. We had slowly built up over a 30k lead before we had additional “day shift”.

This is probably the worlds most civil WvW match.
Even the “grievers” apologize if you whisper them that you don’t like it.

I prefer it stays as it is as a T6-8 server, if people want a T1-2 server just transfer there direct rather than trash a really nice server

Second that ^^. We have a great vibe on our server. What we don’t need is people jumping on the feelgood factor and cause queues. Our community hit T8, due to simple fact we were a medium server with a lack of coverage. Did we complain, did we moan, no. We stuck at it and we banded together and gave everyone since then a complete effort all round.

I dont appreciate all the, lets go here/there comments, make your own server work, it takes commitment. I personally don’t care if we get T1/2, I could easymode like plenty of others and just switch, but whats the point? “Yes! Eat it! First biatches!” and all associated kitten nonsense. Then what? Did you earn it? Did you slog constantly outmanned, but never outgunned?

For me personally, and I know for my guildies too, its about the action and the fun. Queues would put people off and I’d like to keep PS the way it is! /Rant off

Other than that, cheers for the action this week.

From discussions on our forums and mumble channel, I would say the chances of any guilds moving from Gunnar’s Hold are slight, although I believe one guild has already deserted.

This match up has shown us our weaknesses and that is, simply put, numbers we just do not have sufficient people to allow us to do as much as we would like. We are, however, optimistic this will change in due time and will continue to fight to the best of our ability wherever and whenever we can.

As a server we share the same ethos as Piken Square, it’s not easy but we persevere and will continue to do so.

The game is still in its infancy and in time our larger guilds will start to make their presence known in WvW and we will finally be able to redress the balance and hold our own. We may never get to a point of having 24/7 coverage an many of us don’t give a rat’s kitten about that as long as we fight hard and do the best we can with what we have.

Now, should Anet ever decide to merge servers, that’s another story

ex-Vabbi guilds have prime time from 7PM to 1 am (GMT+4). We begin to play 3-4 hours before prime time in Europe.

Last days we played on Eternal BG, today ex-Vabbi guilds (russians+[uMad]) was a 90% of all ppl on Eternal BG. But it’s not all ex-Vabbi guilds. I hope we could control each day one more map (total 2).

Yep, we can’t play all night everyday (but when we climbed up from T9 → T8, had to sleep for several days, 2-3 hours a day. This is hard job, no fun
). We have people and commanders at morning (10-11 am in Moscow = 6-8 am in EU).

I hope more russian guilds will come to Piken Square. It’s very good server. Every guy on WvW knows what to do.

There is a big fight for 2nd place going on as we speak.
I believe Abbadon will get the 2nd place by the skin of their teeth,
but Gunnars will do everything in their power to hold them off .
What Tichai wrote above is definately true.
Numbers makes this world go around. but you know what,
i don’t care a bit. i’d rather have the select groups of people roaming W3 then massive zerg.
(allthough they can come in handy at times)

Pikens type of play showed us we have to adapt quickly,
and make better use of our forces.
A 5 man team can cap 1/2 the map without problems if it’s planned right.

This weeks matchup also showed that you can cap all you want but when the nitty gets gritty all you need is supplies and some good scouts.:)

Also it showed us the importance of being in communication with each other so..

Guys it is funny and sad to use this tactic when you are 20 and we are 10…. on top of that to port out of the cap area thus giving us free cap…. (talking about south middle supply camp). On a second though please keep doing it we had a good laugh last night/morning.

I can’t understand why people believe this “turtle” to be a good tactic. Have yet to see it succeed. If anything I’d say thanks for remaining static.

Nooo, AM, please keep turtling feeeed me kills. When your 40 strong zerg tried taking WC last night, getting 25+ kills by being on a cata behind the gate really required no effort, so please, keep doing it <3

I believe ‘turtling’ either means stacking up close together with the idea that AoE will not affect you then because it only affects 5 people

Or

the tactic where you convince your enemy its a good idea to all gather in one place so its easier to AoE/Stun field them while they cant do much due to having to stay in one exact spot.

This one. Trouble is, siege isn’t capped at 5 players, so my screen was filling with numbers everytime I fired the cata.

its not that effective against piled up AoE either, or fears, stuns, feedback, knockbacks. and casually walking away from the pile of enemies.

Most of us on Gunnars hope to see our enemies turtle, sadly, Piken never seems to oblige :-(

Before I say what I’m really thinking right now… would someone from GH or PK explain me their view of what happened on GH-BL the last 4-5 hours?

After those 4 hours Gunnars glorious plan of killing AM/retreating inside the PK-Keep on the hills of AM-BL was the last bit that made me quit and question the fair WvWvW we all wanted to experience again this week.

Yes there is a secret alliance between Piken and Gunners, that is why we are holding keeps in all zones… coz you know we have to act like there is no secret alliance. But don`t tell anyone I told you about that secret alliance!

Pro hint, maybe gunner are focusing you more as you were close to the second spot last time?

Aw, sweet, he uses sarcasm. I just like how the second one with only one tower left on the map gets focused by both. I dont accuse anyone of making any alliances. There just were some weird situations.

I am pretty sure I made that call to try and get you to quit the map so we can turn our focus onto GH and make them quit the map so we can sit and RP tea and crumpets in a suitable tower.

AM will likely get focused by Piken so we can be first and then by Gunner cause they have given up on first and chasing second, so yeah I would suspect AM is getting focused more, but if your taking cloak and dagger stuff well BOON don’t know of any.

But yeah BOON was in GH BL and AM was only 100pts behind Piken on scores so we switched to AM BL to break up the nice three upgraded keeps etc and knock down your score on purpose we went from about 10k in the lead to 15k, so worked as intended, sorry.

Infact this afternoon actually GH saved AM, Piken had taken Hills, Garrison and we were inside Bay getting ready to work it over when GH became active and started attacking hills. From then on making it impossible to cap the three keeps and after that as all we did was run back and forth trying to save both keeps with no time to resupply so yeah things started getting crazy because we had to leave keeps with no doors at times to try and save other ones resulting in some crazy three way action at times.

This is reasonable and exactly something like that I wanted to hear.. but I have still a question:

What profit lies in both your servers camping our camp for an eternaty? I watched the map closely (between trying to keep both sides outside the camp..) and both your servers had so much time to once try a northern tower (for Piken) or hills (for Gunnar).. this would have brought so much more points than camping us.

It wasn’t the fact that both server stood outside the camp.. it was entertaining and challenging. The fact that both your servers made absolutely no attemt to cap something else (except the north-east camp) was really frustrating.

It was also funny to see that Gunnar, in the beginning, built a large amount of siege to keep us out of this camp, while Piken destroyed bays wall through trebs on the tower. They didn’t care about the tower .. just about us and the camp until we finally got it and the 2 hours of defending started.

@Katiechops.6807: believe me we were already at the bay when someone said it’s clear again and the wall-upgrate is finished.. I think we would have kept the bay and if you hadn’t left you might have lost the hill… but I like it that you don’t go easy on us.. we can learn while you are still in this bracket and use what we have learned against the next servers we face.. you will surely climb the ladder up a bit

I dunno what happened around the Camp and Tower, as BOON was kinda stuck up North in Garrison, I went for dinner and came back to be amazed we still have garrison and that others had trebbed down teh outer wall was a massive Piken zerge on inner door runnign out of supplys so pulled BOON in the build another 3 rams and help cap it with like 60-70 ppl? ouch

And yeah I agree even if they had not attacked I doubt we could have taken Bay as well, we planned to see how long we could stay alive in there and just trash everything we could without getting ourselves killed :P

The situation with the camp was on GH-BL.. I think you were first talking about AB-BL? I came to AB a few minutes before you tried bay

No I was meaning GH -BL,, about 30mins after that was when we chose to switch to AM BL to attack and the red stuff

Zerges u can’t zerge there is a map cap 150 players? so your by default your always 150 players vs 300….

Last I looked AM and GH are HIgh Pop and PS is still Med and as I type this I am in AM Garrison fighting off both AM and GH with the OUTMANNED BUFF that means there are three times as many of you as there us. fact.

So yeah PS a zerge server your having a laugh.

So what happened on friday night? When the game “ended” and the score popped up AM were second but then Gunnar’s jumped to second before everyone got ported out.

Can someone explain how the scoring works in wvw? I thought the score you had from keeps, camps and what not got added to the total score each time the timer went to zero, but see points being added all the time.

In the case of friday night, it was simply a matter of the score not being updated untill a few mins after the timer runs out. But that being said, there does seem to be a lot of extra incom inbetween tallies. Killing sentries might be much more important then I give it credit for.
