there would have to be some really separate arena
where only the gvg participants could enter
cause it needs to track down when everyone of 1 team is dead and the lost is round
also needs to be taken care that it doesnt get exploited if it has too big of an impact
—>guilds just being made with second accounts who then just lose on purpose
or guilds who get payed to lose … or just fun guilds/pve guilds who make a gvg for fun if the option is there and then actually have impact on wvw even if they didnt ever entwer wvw before for example…
guilds would sort of have to earn the right to be in these arenas
so that not every fun guild can fight for your server and actually affect the score negativly
then again i think it would be difficult to decide which guilds are allowed to fight for a servers score or how to make a requirement that makes fun/troll/exploiting guilds stop joining these gvgs…

make a separate map for the sanctum where you gvg, a guild leader adds people to a nenew tab in the guild panel that adds them to the guild team, you must have 5/10/15/20 people before you can start the Que, it matchs you with another team queuing and you enter a separate arena, points get awarded to the guilds server for winning, the larger the teams the more points earned, there will be no score cards only winning or losing, wvw rank chests will be awarded to winning team with more chests for teams that win multiple in a row (3 wins in a row 2 chests instead of one), all players must be in the sameguild.
Wouldn’t be rocketscience. Just do like other games and have one “relaxed” mode and one ranked mode and put in a requirement of a minimum amount of games before you’re allowed to enter ranked mode. Maybe even force the guild to perfomr a number of unranked matches with the same team before it’s allowed ranked games.
As I said, plenty of games have done this before with great success.
I doubt the staff at Anet have ever played any competative game before, because everything “game-making” related seem to be such a chore for them.
a cooler thing would be this; Using the current “merchant tier” system employed by events in Dry Top, each successive GvG victory for a server reduces item prices and or adds new items to merchants on the server that has the winning teams.
While WvW affect crafting, healing, HP and so on, GvG could affect the basic economy.
It would also allow Anet to introduce new, “rare” items that is harder to get as your server will have to win X number of guild battles within Y amount of days-weeks.
EDIT; consecutive losses would negatively affect this Tier “rating”
EDIT 2: this would further help strengthen server loyalty, and make it worthwhile for guilds to play for one server. This way, the megaserver systems initial “downsides” will slowly be outweighed by the benefits of supporting ones server.
Guild quality has nothing to do with server size, so even lower tier servers would have a good shot at reaching the top ladders since all they need is a guild of 10-25 players willing to cooperate and do their best.

Didn’t Aion do something similar? Sounds cool in theory but not sure how it worked in reality.

I said on this forum almost 2 years ago that GvG was the only thing that could keep Guild Wars 2 competitive mode going strong… Every day that pass without that most needed update for a fully supported GvG mode makes me more right, sadly, , as servers become more and more empty.
