Hardened Gates nerf, seriously?
The removal of PvDoor meant that supply management and besieging was very important. You had to be careful of how much supply you had because you need that siege to break a gate, and you had to be smart about what kind of siege you used to break a gate because once it’s gone, you’re done.
With PvDoor it doesn’t matter – players can just zerg down a gate no matter how many disablers are used, or if cows drained all the supply, or people manned mortars and trebs properly to destroy rams. This nerf made WvW less tactical and it made zerging in large numbers even more beneficial.
Shiren.9532 siege is there to counter PVD, 50% is still fine, at least encorages players to atack, ive been on defending this last days… running a few yaks for upgrading deploying some siege, and when zergs 40+ comes if aint free take they will not even drop siege to take the tower or try to pvd.
This a bad move overall and I see no need for it. T3 keeps with invulnerable gates are a challenge to take but that part of the fun. Many people prefer a challenge.
Ive seen the contrary, Blobs only cap empty stuff, the 50% damage is not a big change.
Most gw2 players hate effort, avery effort is to much even 1 defender.
This is probably a silly comment to make but when I see changes like this I’m always hoping for a more broad explanation of why it was implemented.
I also wake up every day looking for unicorns. Then I go to bed sad once again.

What is with all these low skill PvE players trying to bring PvE into WvW. Find some friends, get some skill, go out off your siege and fight your attackers.
sounds like you never defended anything.. defenders are becoming rare and usually its a few people defending against a larger force, buying time, till more show up to help if any even come. i’d like to see you jump out of a tower against a group 2 to 3 times your size. you seem to be a pro wvw so i’m guessing you’d be able to defend something and kill a zerg all by yourself with no siege..
also how is defending your stuff considered pve? are npcs or the environment attacking the towers? no its players
Try tier1 NA. You have the entire YB+TC map queue blob defending 1 keep. 1 AC/treb per player. Everytime BG rolled in hills, we counted 12 sup ac just on along the walls. Theres 10 more inner, yes this is so fun with hardened cannons etc. Seige is supposed to give defenders an edge not just faceroll everyone with PvE. WvW = Massive player vs player not seige vs player.
Dear seige huggers, GIT GUD.

I do that regularly, because most of the time there is no help coming, you got to try something different.

tried t1. it was the closest thing to EoTM with unskilled blobs of players putting faces in doors and running from every fight that they didn’t outnumber the others 3 to 1.
Agree, this was a bad change. Gates should be immune to non-siege by default if anything.
Can we get an explanation at least for this change, or at least change the gate damage reduction to 75%.
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

This was a uniblob buff. The uniblob k-trainers were complaining so … welcome back , PvD.
Seems to be some confusion about “siege hugging.”
Siege hugging: You are fighting someone in open field and are baiting your opponent back into cannon/ac/bally range of a tower or keep. Usage of the term by sane people is generally reserved for a roughly equal sized force that needs to fight in siege cover because they can’t beat you in the field. Everyone does it from time to time but everyone denies ever doing it. If an opponent is baiting you into siege, you should feel like a bad-kitten. If they could beat you without it, they would. Here’s an idea … don’t follow them into the ac fire. Go find another fight or take some of their stuff. Or, to prove you are even more of a bad-kitten, go destroy them in the middle of their own ac cover.
Not siege hugging: Using siege to defend a keep. That is what it is for. There is zero possibility of “two map queues with one AC per person” will ever happen because of siege capping. The siege cap is there to prevent what Anet considers to be an unfair amount of siege. Don’t like the siege cap? Think it should be lower? Go complain to Anet. People have been crying that song for years but, maybe if you cry louder it’ll work this time. I am under zero obligation to make my keep, tower, or camp easy for your k-trainers to flip.
You can complain about game design elements but complaining about players playing the game as designed just makes you sound like a whiny brat. Sadly, this game is full to the brim with those.
This could be in response to the use of shield generators and door trebs which usually cannot be countered. It might also be to encourage people to use other options like invulnerable fortifications. Either way, the randomness of this change is what I find most puzzling.
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

I’ve been on both sides of PvD and it’s not fun for anyone
I’m sorry I read this and had to laugh, I didn’t realize there was an everlasting gate tonic out there.

I spy someone who transfered to blobgate at one point.
I Play WvW to have fun. I don’t find it fun anymore. Therefore I don’t play.
“Reduced the nonsiege weapon damage reduction granted by Hardened Gates from 100% to 50%.”
Why would you ever want to bring back PvD? PvD is everything that’s wrong with WvW, as it means a large skillless blob can take everything away from small groups with no counterplay. I’ve been on both sides of PvD and it’s not fun for anyone, so I have to ask: who wanted this change?
Perhaps this was done in order to bring some EOTM players back into WVW, I honestly can’t think of anyone else that would have wanted this.
Yeah this is pretty awesome. Saves a lot of people time while ktraining t3 stuff away from hopelessly outnumbered defenders. Also save tons on siege. The ktrain has a schedule to keep after all.
I would have been against the nerf in a perfect world where servers have equal coverage.
But logging into WvW to find BG’s 10 t3 keeps + SM everyday, and spending the next 6 hours fighting siege trying to paper them is annoying. True, the strongest server can now PvD, but since in t1 all keeps are paper daily from TC/YB, it doesn’t really matter- this just helps the weaker servers take back their keeps now.
So thanks Anet, IMO this is a great change for t1.
Uh, have you actually played the game since the patch? I do between 8 and 15 damage to a T3 gate. That’s nothing. You’d be there for an hour with a zerg PvDing it.
I think this is a great change as it doesn’t make players totally dependent on siege. If a gate is almost down, and your rams are destroyed, this give the group the opportunity to try to finish it off, rather than leave, resupply, and try all over again. That’s boring. This is a much needed change.

So you log in in the morning. There are 40-50 BG on the map. You’ve got 10 people, and everything on your side of the map is green, T3, and siege capped. How is PvD helping you today?

It looks like you two do agree! This keeps the blob-train on schedule.
God forbid a large group manage its supply, resupply, or play strategically (in the fashion of, literally, every small group ever).
Also, Spurnshadow, Hardened Gates can apply to a T1 gate, not just T3. I’d argue it has had even more value for T1 gates than for T3.

Yeah, I’m not too worried about people pvdooring fortified hardened gates (though, my opinion may change if it becomes common), but pvdooring paper hardened gates instead, especially on reset night.
