Q:
Have servers for leagues already been set?
Confusing patch notes. :p

Servers for leagues were decided at last weeks reset this week is an intermediate week.
So no server can rise to higher league?

How do you know? What servers are in what league then?

If this is true (I did not saw it anywhere) the order of servers of last friday can be seen here:
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/wvw
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/eu/wvw
the xfer sale prices were set last friday…but the mid-season prices will be set based on March 28 rankings, which implies that the leagues have not been set and will be based on the last minute rankings

That is what I think too, yet the pre-season prices in NA are split at rank 12 into two price tiers, not “gold, silver, bronze” price tiers.

I asked a very similar question some days ago, but no answer, yet.
yup… already decided………..
based on march 14th rank….
gold : kitten
silver : T3, T4, T5
bronze :T6, T7, T8
Archeage = Farmville with PK
Thank you. So the ranking of the leagues is decided on 28th of March.

nope…
based on march 14th rank…
doesn’t make sense to determine the free transfer server but then only decide which league they go…. it need to be concurrent/parallel to maintain integrity…

Why they will change prices then at 28th based on the rankings at 28th?
Too much speculation in this thread, can someone that claims the leagues were decided on march 14th provide link that proves it is so ?
Btw, if it was set march 14th, then its big hit and unfair for servers like RoF that was actively trying to push for EU silver league to the last moment
The statement “North America and Europe have been split into three leagues each: gold, silver, and bronze” certainly sounds like they have already been determined.
it would be more unfair if the server that get huge free transfers based on march 14th rank suddenly decide to tank rank and go lower league if the league are decided based on march 28th rank…

As I remeber this was the same thing last time too…. :/
I really hope we get an answer.
@DOV: Keep pushing RoF!!
Patch notes states “North America and Europe have been split into three leagues each: gold, silver, and bronze.” Please let us know if the servers for each league have already been decided upon before people start spending their gems on transfers.
The initial round of the tournament will match the worlds in each league according to their world rating.
I think that means:
Gold (1st week):
Matchup 1: 1,2,3
Matchup 2: 4,5,6
Matchup 3: 7,8,9
Silver and Bronze each..
Anet, as this tournamet fails as hard as the last one, please think again how you place your rewards & how you decide what servers belong to what leagues. We already lost most of our wvw-nomadguilds as they know they cant get good rewards at here. And as they are gone, our server is once again 10 peeps against 150 peeps. → Hopefully we will get atleast 1 2nd placement during this tournament. Anything more is utopia. Sucks really hard, and tournament havent even begun.
I have thought some hours about what it can mean that the prices for
transferring at the weeks of tournament will be set at the ranking of 28th March
and not at the ranking of 14th March as the prices for pretournament.
The only reason I can imagine is that the setup for the leagues will really be based
on the ranking at 28th March, if you like it or not.
But Anet, please, give us an answer soon and before tournament starts.
If nothing else, it would be nice if ANet would review the meaning of verb tenses before publishing release notes. Unless they did, in which case, why not release the leagues / servers?
It’s frustrating to have release notes that purport to provide information that is ambiguous and unhelpful.
I’m pretty sure in that blog post that was linked that it said the leagues would be set by march 14th which is obviously how they determined the preloaded prices, based on where you were at the end of that week. It wouldn’t make any sense set prices if servers can still switch leagues. Also the patch notes say the leagues are already split there really isn’t a lot to figure out.

I don’t think so, the link says that pre-tournament pricing will be set based on the server rank on March 14th. Tournament pricing will be set based on the rank of the server on March 28th.
That at least somewhat implies that the March 28th rank will be the tournament position.
Obviously the patch note could have been written in a clearer fashion.
By the same logic, the tourney prices that will be set based on March 28th rankings will make little sense if a server that is at the bottom of gold league gets top of silver pricing.
Consider azizul’s post too: “more unfair if the server that get huge free transfers based on march 14th rank suddenly decide to tank rank and go lower league if the league are decided based on march 28th rank”.
This is why an answer from Anet would be much appreciated.

most engineers are not good writers. actually, most of every profession are not good writers (except perhaps professional writers, for whom I am willing to accept that even the below-average ones are still “good”).
I think what they meant to say is that the March 28 rankings will determine what league you end up in. At the same time, tournament pricing will kick in, in order to discourage players from transferring to servers at the top of each bracket for easy wins.
That all applies during a tournament. During non-tournament play a much simpler transfer pricing system will be in place. The non-tournament system will go into effect on March 18, and the transfer cost during non-tournament play will depend on the ratings established at the end of the previous match (so for example, on March 18 transfer costs will be based on rankings from March 14).
So all this talk about March 14 ratings applies only to the transfer costs that will be in effect from March 18 through March 21. Transfer costs between March 21 and March 28 will depend on the ratings from March 21. Transfer costs from March 28 through the end of the Season 2 Tournament will be based on ratings from March 28.
After Season 2 is over, we will presumably go back to non-Tournament pricing (the pricing scheme that’s in effect now, not the one we had before March 18).
