So, basically, I’m from HoD, and it’s just stupid. Just some background info.

What I want is there to be a slight advantage for teams that are losing very badly, as in not even owning a keep. They should make it so that people cannot upgrade the garrison of a different server. This gives a chance for the losing server to at least capture one keep. Last week against Blackgate, we couldn’t even capture our own garrison, even with equal numbers of players, partly because the garrison had fully upgraded NPCs that did a significant amount of damage, tanked, and respawned incredibly fast.

After arguing with an engineer for a while, you begin to realize that he actually enjoys it.

There is an Outmanned buff – a.k.a. “a slight advantage.”

Preventing Red from performing upgrades just because Blue owns nothing will just cause controversy and isn’t exactly a viable solution, as Green may just be doing equally as well as Red and this would give a much more significant advantage to Green than to Blue – as an example.

In my experience, one of the biggest issues behind losing servers is the loss of manpower due to lack of morale based on the current score of a server – and especially people/guilds giving up by transfering to a ‘winning’ server without considering rankings and other environmental factors. I’m hearing HoD has had a problem with several guilds/people who play WvW transfer off server, which is really depressing – but ranking wise you guys honestly don’t seem to be doing so bad.

Different tiers of outmanned buffs might be a better idea, though, to counter this and encourage more people to try. The point of the game is to have fun, but people tend to care too much about score to really put up good, coordinated fights and enjoy doing so.

My grips with the system is how bad some of the towers are designed to the point that the most effective defence is to wipe the attackers when they break through the gate.

Last stand at the lord is simply more effective than trying to defend a gate that will inevitably go down.

Orbs give a massive advantage to the winning team.

Upgrades give a massive advantage to the winning team.

Outmanned buff gives no advantage at all to the losing team.

people who play WvW transfer off server, which is really depressing – but ranking wise you guys honestly don’t seem to be doing so bad.

This is simply because of the way the ranking system works, it is flawed. Henge of Denravi absolutely dominated the World vs World scene at the start, which skyrocketed their ranking. Then everybody left and the server couldn’t do anything.

It is going to take several more weeks before the ranking drops enough to actually be at the rating the server currently can handle. While it might be at rating “completely fictional number” 1000, they are only that rating because they were rating 1500 before and are slowly going down from being annihilated each week, where their current performance is in fact only rating 250.

As many people have said, swapping the Orb buff for the Outmanned buff would be ideal. That way, the winning team with the Orbs would be encouraged to go and farm (with +XP +Karma), dragging them away from spawn camping, while the losing team with fewer people would be compensated for somewhat.
