Guild Wars 2

Part of a small small guild and they were looking at getting me the commander book. I was wondering if it is character specific or if it applied for the account? I am not sure what character I want to use as my main so would hate to use it on one I was going to shelf.

Next question is non wvw related for the most part. During server transfers can guilds transfer or are they left behind?

The commander book can be applied only to one character. Guilds are not server bound, but all the upgrades are.

It is bound to the character. Multiple characters=multiple books; if you want all of them to have the commander tag.

By ‘guilds’ I am assuming you mean the guild name and structure. Yes, the guild would still exist in its current state. The members would need to transfer individually. However, you will lose all of your ‘progress’ or ‘influence’ attained on the previous server.

Guild upgrades are indeed per server, if you look at the upgrades tab it also shows eg. Far Shiverpeaks influence if you’re on Far Shiverpeaks. It’s like a reputation system for the server.
If a few members of your guild transfer to say Underworld, they’re still in the same guild and will start earning Underworld influence.
You then have a multi server guild with separate influence pools and upgrades on both servers.
