First thing first, we need to understand Arenanet is not perfect. Things that look great on paper do not necessarily translate well in execution. Arenanet spent a long time balancing the classes, yet even now they’re still nerfing and buffing things. Okay, lets get on this.

WvW needs to adopt its own setup. Much like how PvP is entirely separate, so must WvW. That is not to say some things should still overlap. Armor you earn and PvE should still be usable, etc etc.

The badge system is good, but there needs to be other things. Here’s my idea.

First, introduce a new type of badge I’ll call “Tokens of Valor” or “ValorTokens.” Tokens work differently from Badges. Whereas badges are randomly obtained by anything, Valor Tokens are only obtained from events. taking Camps gives almost nothing, attacking Dolyaks gives squat. Flipping towers, keeps and castles however, gives a ton. These tokens will be awarded like dungeon tokens. They appear via a UI chest popup.

Once you have these tokens, you can do a whole bunch of things with them. However, everything available is restrained to just the WvW environment. Get enough Valor tokens and you can buy things like Siege, tower upgrades, and even roles like the Commander title and anything else that may come along in the future.

Next, give a new type of buff each player receives when they enter WvW. This buff is reflective of the amount of enemy players you have killed. What this provide a quality system for players. Lets even mimic the PVP setup. A player that is of a rabbit rank will pay more attention to a wolf than a deer. It would even be better if these ranks were viewable simply by hovering over a player’s name in chat. The great thing about this is that the game alreakitteneps track of kills! We just have to translate it.

There is no need for another token system. If anything, Anet can just implement new WvW specific reward with karma or already existing ones. Commander role should not be aquired easily by anyone, and i already think 100 gold is not enough, as it should rely on heavy community effort or consensus to get one.

WvW kills are irrelevent. It heavily depends on what class and build you play. A BS thief or mesmer that lacks aoe won’t get twice as much as a staff ele randomly aoeing zerg or walls. It doesn’t mean that they are less of a threat nor that they should be penalized in obtaining ranks or rewards.

I agree though on the PvE aspect of WvW, having PvE gear is fine but keeping abilitys untouched that are being nerfed for s or tPvP, is a bit weird. Although i think there are more pressing issue such as culling, orb system, undermanned buff to work on (just to name a few ^-^)

What needs to be made is remove the need/incitement for transfers and implement benefits for playing for underpopulated servers so the scoreboard vision is diminished.
Allow gear of equal powerlevel to PvE to be obtained from WvW.
Make the maps larger to allow for more tactical options so the smaller groups aren’t instantaniously run over by zergs.

I like the ideas. I personally don’t like having to spend GOLD at all for the Commander title, or the need for consensus, because those that simply dislike someone for personal reasons can use that to prevent someone from becoming a Commander.

IF you got the skill you should be able to earn the title. Being able to work for it thru being active in WvW and prehaps earning WvW specific exp would be nice, and that exp would be used to raise your rank in WvW. Simular to how the old school pvp system was on say, WoW when folks could earn High Warlord rank. That was fine, then Blizzard changed it and made the crappy pvp system they use now. Being able to BUY your rank as Commander with the in-game currency simply means any player with enough time to farm and make gold, can be a Commander. Gold does not equal Pvp/WvW skill. We need players with actual skill as Commanders, not just any rich player that might buy it just to show off but actually sucks in WvW.

Btw folks, please dont rage cause I mention WoW, I quit the game, dont like it anymore or I wouldnt be here. Only saying the way you earned ranks back then in the old vanila WoW was actual good, you had to WORK for it basically.

I wish they’d get rid of the need to use gold or skill points to buy or upgrade stuff in WvW. Robbing us of skill points or the gold we need for our gear, or Legendary in WvW is just wrong. I have no problem repairing in WvW, although I think IF a player kills you, that shouldnt damage your armor. IF npcs kill you then that causes armor damage. After all, lower level players that want to try out WvW shouldnt have to go broke repairing gear everytime a player kills them, which will happen a lot till they get use to it. But they should have enough sense to becareful against npcs.

Last, please A-net, it would be nice if you had seperate servers for running WvW and SPvP, as they would probably run a lot better if they did.

You know what would be awesome? If to get commander you first had to put in (X) hours in WvW and had to have been part of (Y) events of each type, THEN you can pay for the title or what not, I think this would really help with the inexperience that we’ve all seen, or people just outright buying the title (altho, this method would cut down on the profitability of commander status for ANet :P )
