The best wvw update realty the only wvw update they need to do is to split wvw from pve in balancing that along would save wvw. Truth be told raids are not going to last that well after HoT any way and most balancing up to this point wvw had to deal with was due to raids. So at a point Anet going to be balancing pve from an effect dead game type.
Dead gamemode? It’s far surpassed their expectations of participation and is thriving even now..
Players play up to the point of having fun or getting gear once you take out one of though things you see a massive die off. HoT raids added in the best gear that will be in GW2 till the end of gw2 there is no more progression after that point. For the raid mind set once you get this gear its the “i win” the mmorpg moment.
May not be dead now but raids are going to fall off soon even faster as the next expansion is out.
This is the treadmill and how truly emptily such a system is even if it was a one step.
What I want out of this is the ability to exchange WvW Infusions. I have 20+ Vital Infusions sitting and collecting dust…
These forums make me facepalm so very, very hard.
We get exciting news: people have been asking for a scoring change, a rewards update and an improved UI in WvW for ages now. And hey, they’re finally coming! And what’s our response? A thread full of complaints. Do you now see why Reddit is the go-to place for the devs over these forums? The toxicity is unbelievable.
Cause these changes are minor and nothing like what the mode needs to save it. Whats more theyve been working on these for the better part of a year when they should have taken maybe a month.
Just don’t get your hopes up too high for ascended gear. I’m sure they’re adding the same ascended vendor that’s in PvP and fractals, which gives you tokens you use to craft other tokens that can then purchase gear. It’s very complicated, stupid, and half the time, really doesn’t even save any gold.
LFG thing made me actually chuckle.
Skirmish rewards could be good.
Rework of the skirmish system could be good. Could be if they don’t kitten it up.

People need to stop saying this. “I can’t be disappointed more”. I’m beginning to think that Anet sees this and takes it as a challenge. They go “Oh really, well wait till you see THIS!”. Just watch, there will be 4 new conditions when the expansion comes out and they’ll add them all to auto attacks and STILL not buff condi removal skills even though they keep buffing condis. They’ll just add some other crappy gimmick like they did with resistance and call it a day, and just make combat even more boring and braindead that it is already.
Idk though, if the new lfg is like a server wide announcement/communicate type… I would actually be interested…
If it’s just a cool UI with exactly the same feature as current useless lfg…
The Development by Acretion model means Arenanet are unlikely to expand any current system.
My hope is a complete reconceptualisation of LFG for WvW that makes WvW a more prominent option on the UI.
Maybe if people would have solid recommendations towards what really needs to be changed in this game-mode, ANet might listen.
Because all I have read in several threads as of late, is a lot of passive-aggressive sarcastic remarks about how ANet fails the WvW community and how they DON’T care about the players who enjoy it.
Honestly I would be just as unresponsive and hands-off as they are seeing as how any changes/mods/nerfs/buffs they add or whatever is met with, “The sky is falling” mentality.
I agree the mode needs:
- A source of rewards/tokens/parts that would benefit someone who solely plays WvW (A way to get Ascendeds/Legendaries. However the reward/way can not exceed or be faster in any way, than it’s PvE counter-part.)
- Balance catered exclusively to the mode.
- Roll backs to things that previously made WvW a lot more enjoyable.
If WvW is going to stand a chance as a, “Standalone” part of GW2, it has to be treated as a separate entity, while adhering to any rule-sets that PvE players have had put on them. Such as diminishing returns, RNG, and alike.
Yeah, would be nice if they make it an upgrade version like throw them into the forge including Gift of battle or something like that and not introduce another currency.
Ok, maybe it’s time to one of the wvw noobs talk about wvw and the first impression he got. I am a PvE player who hate every kind of PvP. I am really hate it in the last 5 years, but I joined the big fight because I want two Gift of Battles and some Ascalonian Tears too. I don’t have to say for what reason I reckon
So there was the time I traveled to one of the wvw maps and I didn’t have a kittened clue what the kitten I had to do to get that kittened Gifts. There were the map chat ofc, but a greenhorn most likely shut up when two commanders and the scouts are talking about whoknowwhat
No mentor in wvw, so I checked the LFG (as a pve’r it’s a reflex nowdays) for a kind group to learn about this fight, but nothing I found ofc.
I ended up joining a squad and run in a middle of a big group (now I know this was a “zerg”) and I think I just learnt the most boring and braindead way to play this gamemode.
Fortunately I found some kind people to show me the tricks, and learnt so much from this forum too. Now I kinda like this fight, but if I had the tool to find them more easily…
TL;DR I think, the LFG system update is a huge step forward and I really mean it.

This post basically outlines what I mentioned I thought what the changes to lfg would be beneficial to. I think many who pve would be more inclined to use lfg instead of asking in map so this would be a much more convenient way for them to find people to group up with. This is also the reason I try to respond in chat whether or not a new person asks, I just put in /m or /t if anyone has any questions or if they don’t know anything to ask and someone will usually be inclined to answer, at least on my server. I also have random people inviting me to party and I do not decline those either, I let them go around or I lead the way and try to show them some action and also do moderately safer stuff away from gankers and zergs so they don’t get put off from the game mode if possible. I am curious to see what impacts this will bring from those people that are coming from pve and whether it will make them become more involved, as well as more smaller groups forming so it’s not just one blob.
Good thing my guild has been doing weekly training for months! I’m soooo happy!
