If you wanan go deeper we can remove everything that identify your char, your guild, rank, char icon, make custom chars for everyone, happy days, no sniping. Also make all skins custom.

As for driver targetting by rank, X T D already pointed out there are plenty of other ways to spot the driver.

I’d prefer short name plates revealing minimal information only. The main reason is to reduce display clutter.

I would not mind if the rank name was removed from name plates. High rank is nothing to be proud of thanks to EotM k-trains. Low rank just invites for free kills. And know-it-alls get vocal on your right to operate siege if you are low rank.

There are also other details that have no place in name plates in WvW:

• Green upscaled arrow – This pretty much invites people for a free kill instead of protecting the new players.
• sPvP badge – sPvP/PvE/roleplaying/gathering badges have no place in WvW. Who came up with this idea?!
• NPC guild tags – Claimed objectives already display guild banners. The NPCs are not your guild members.

Maybe not your guild, but we value those NPCs as part of our guild. They even help us on guild missions. Try talking to them, maybe you’ll like them.

I find the exact opposite in my case. They see my rank and attack me like I kicked their puppy. My guildmate was laughing about it last night. He runs a very glassy build and uses me for bait. They focus on my evasion build even though he is the more logical target to eliminate first. We basically troll my rank.

Hah, that’s funny… My guild tag has that same effect.

I like it as it is. And I am a thief. I don’t go charging into the battle to kill the highest ranked anything. I stay on the fringe and rush only to help finish off those with low health or to try prevent such players from running away in order to gain back their health. I guess I don’t care as such what their rank is in those cases, but when roaming solo and encountering an enemy, their rank can make me decide how to engage, if at all (run away!!!).

I would rather the ranks stay. People have worked hard and have earned their rank and I think they should be able to show it. Also just because your the highest rank doesn’t mean your the commander. Deads and I are two of the main tags for my guild and we tag a lot for our server. He is a Mithril and I am a silver but I was commanding before I even hit bronze. A rank doesn’t reflect the skill of the player it just shows how much experience they have gotten in wvw. It boils down to watching and scanning seeing who is following who and which one seems to be the driver.
