Hiring a second worker in a tower...useless?

I have looked at the supply distributions for the borderlands and EBG and it appears that hiring a second worker is almost totally worthless for towers. NWT and NET in the borderlands get 3 and 4 supply per minute if the yaks make it every time (with no double delivery upgrade). SWT and SET each get about 9 supply per minute if the yaks make it every time (with no double delivery). The yaks in SWT and SET will not make it that often (especially SS yaks) and each time a yak is killed, that adds 5 minutes will be added to the respawn time. One worker drains 20 supply per minute to the tower. Hiring a second worker will cause 40 supply to be drained per minute. This means that every tower in the borderlands will still lose supply quicker than they will replenish it with one worker, even in the impossible scenario you have every supply camp captured, all double deliveries, and all yaks making it every time. Therefore, adding a second worker can’t be worth it when trying to speed up the upgrade. I buy second worker but only after all of the structural upgrades are done. This defeats the purpose of second worker since second worker only helps structural upgrades but I buy it so I can continue the later tier upgrades in that path etc (not because the second worker actually does anything). A few EBG towers gain supply a little quicker but still not even close to second worker being worth it.

Buying a second worker in a keep or stonemist at least makes sense because they get double supply each time the yak dumps off supply (compared to towers) so they regenerate supply faster, in fact garrison regenerates 37 supply per minute if all yaks make their route every time (with no double deliveries) so it makes sense to buy it for garrison and possibly west keep and east keep too.

tldr: towers don’t gain supply fast enough from yaks for second worker to be worth buying

If you need to save supply at the present time because of the fear of attack, the second worker allows you to quickly build the upgrade once the coast is clear.

In top tiers, the second worker is highly valuable, if you can afford the Supply for it. If you’re unable to defend camps to feed Supply to your holdings, then that would explain why some lower servers don’t use it.

Second worker is mostly viable in Quentin Lake and Ogrewatch (if you don’t have SM and if the camp has double supply deliveries) (maybe Wildcreek should be on this list too, don’t know for sure) otherwise it’s pretty much a waste of 100 supplies, yes, but if a tower is at risk of overflowing, I would reccomend gettign this anytime over merchants etc.

Only useful for towers in EB. It’s useless in the borderlands.

Time for an EB supply lesson !

A yak carries 35 supplies, 70 when upgraded.
At 35 supplies, one worker will consume all the supplies before the next yak comes in even if it has permanent swiftness (exception maybe for OW and Veloka, didn’t pay too much attention).

At 70 supplies things get a little more complicated. If you have the keep, the worker in the back towers will use all of it before the next one comes in (exception once again maybe for Veloka).
The worker in the front towers however will not be enough to use it all before the next yak comes if you do not own SM, which will rapidly cause an overflow of supplies.

The supply capacity of a tower raises by 25 for a T1 upgrade (siege master, second worker, oil, walls), 50 for a T2 (cannon, door) and 75 for a T3 (mortar, walls).

A tower starts with a maximum capacity of 100. Siege master costs 75, Oil and second worker 100 and walls 200.

If you have an upgraded yak, after 2 trips around 30 supplies are going to be “wasted” each trip. You have a lot of choices :
-use those supplies to build defensive siege
-buy a second worker. But if you do so you are going to halt the wall upgrade for a time and once its done the tower will always sit empty if you chain upgrades and if you don’t, what was the point of a second worker ? And you just used up 100 supplies which could have been used for something else.

You could build the siege master or the oil to gradually raise the maximum capacity to be sure that your tower won’t be empty in case of an attack, but you should have used the surplus of supplies to build defensive siege before.

Point I want to make : a second worker doesn’t help in back towers and is barely useful in front towers. It only makes sure that the tower has 0 supplies. It doesn’t speed up an upgrade because it cost 100 supplies and by building it you probably halted the walls or doors or cannons. It’s only useful to build one before building the fortify upgrade to increase supply capacity.

For BL, the north towers are even worse than the front towers in EB.

(That’s all assuming of course someone is taking care of the towers)
