HoT Powercreep
Is it even possible to fix?
In short: No.
The “fix” you want would require an entire rework of EVERYTHING they added on HoT. It would be like remaking the whole expansion again, so don’t expect that to ever happen because it’s inconceivable.

Dude, they ain’t gonna do anything. Everyone is tired of it indeed, roaming is boring, builds are less diverse than ever, invulnerable/evade/stealth, spam spam spam, etc
Game is a mess.
If you think this bad now, wait for the next expansion lol
What? Are you not enjoying your stay in passive play and AoE central? HoT was largely about implementing new systems sooo this is the direction that the game is heading. Check out one of the new passive traits "ambient damage", 1k damage to anyone in your general vicinity, 360 radius at 900 range (but it’s gonna actually be 1200), 1 second ICD.
You forgot to include HoT stats and kitten near every change they added to wvw at the time (banners, airship, etc. )
It really is crazy how far in the wrong direction they went with HoT.
Only good thing to come out of it is my social life improved because I play a lot less than I used to.
HoT traits and builds have RUINED wvw and pvp. The powercreep right now is absolutely absurd.
It took you this long to realize?
HoT traits and builds have RUINED wvw and pvp. The powercreep right now is absolutely absurd. I’ve played since release and I can clearly feel the difference during combat. HoT builds are really strong, barely take any skill to use and give you more room for error. It’s nothing but spam. I’m tired of it.

How about we greatly improve those neglected core profession weapons and slot skills and traits instead?
221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.

Not sure how they expect players to trust them being HoT was unfinished and did not meet player expectations drastically…..

Oh no, I realized the powercreep waaaay back in november when HoT came out. I just wanted to post that I was tired of it. :P

You just put a smile in my face, thank you.
Greezzz

Yes they could use some improvement, but really I think a better solution would be to nerf the passive procs and multiuse skills that HoT brought to the elite specs. The solution to a powercreep isn’t to make everyone more powerful again, its to take away the biggest causes of the creep. And that is passive boon/condi application, insane amount of uptimes on boons, skills that do 4 or more things at once etc…. That needs to be toned down a bit, probably a lot.
But I don’t think it will. I think a lot of the power behind elite specs comes from the increased difficulty in HoT maps. ANet really wanted those maps to be available to everyone with HoT, even the not so great players, so they had to make elite specs incredibly strong (and this is probably where all the passives come from) so that these players could survive in those maps more easily.
As the masteries were originally developed as a way to maintain current level yet add progression to the game, I hope (when/if) they introduce more elite specs, they hold them in line with the current elite specs.
I believe vanilla builds were meant to be less powerful than elite specs to push the player base towards using them. I do not believe Anet will tone anything down tbh, rather the opposite I see them adding alternates in the future.
I still disagree with this whole crying about HoT powercreep. I don’t need the elite specs on pretty much any of my classes to beat someone with the elite specs.
I’d honestly love your specifics. All of the HoT elite specs have counters and you don’t need to be running an elite spec to counter them. Its a L2P issue.
I love the character improvements from HoT. I love the elite specializations. I HATE nerfs and LOVE character improvements. As long as Anet improves our characters, builds them up, I’m happy.
All I ever see is crybabies crying for nerfs. Wah wah.
Hell I was still playing my warrior up till last week. I love that guy

It’s a bit exponential though. You can counter an elite build and you can probably wrap up a couple of elite builds, though likely you’re first mistake will call it, but the more varied or numerous compositions will leave your core build standing there waiting for a handout in a good number of WvW encounters.

OP did you try and WVW on a free acount ? kittening painful ain’kitten

The elite specs were clearly designed to be balanced against other elite specs. That’s why you can explicitly only use one, and the associated weapon is unusable without the associated trait line.
In retrospect Anet should have launched HoT with two of them per profession, but I guess that would take more work than they were willing to do.

Absolutely agree on this. I see the potential, but right now players are kinda stuck with little option. I’m hoping they attend pax prime this year and let out some news about this.
