How Hills Walls Should be
That would be bad idea, you could then use the cliff opposite to take down the inner while your other group is taking down the outer….
Out of the three keeps on a BL, I always thought hills was the most sound.
Honestly, I don’t like how bay was designed. Thank God they fixed it so you can no longer treb from Garrison to hit bays outer wall. That use to bother the crap outta me lol.

In real life those would be the walls position yes. Always use your environment when creating defenses. Natural defenses are usually the easiest to defend. The old Romans always used natural defenses in their strongholds one way or another.
GL – “The Afternoon’s Watch” [OATH]
Can’t make it too hard for attackers lol. Its already kitten hard when defended.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in all MMOs.
Stop failing at PvE, and fix WvW/SPvP. Thank you.
Actually no, depending on when the keep was built and the properties of the cliffs, the current walls are reasonable.
Especially considering that second hill with a clear view on the keep, it would be a problem, not to have those walls.
That is not even considering that in a real keep. there would be the threat of people trying to scale the cliffs and throwing down ropes. That’s, why you need those walls as a place for guards to patrol. If the area is open, it can become a safety hazard really quickly and at the very least requires dozens of guards at night to keep the enemy from infiltrating the keep by scaling the cliffs.
You always want your walls to form a complete circle, no matter the natural borders.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
I’ve posted this before…in a world where you have mesmers that can port…why do towers even have gates? Think of the kinds of nearly impenetrable towers that could be constructed if mesmer’s portals were employed.
JQ Ranger
you mean why do we even have a gate in a world where mesmers glitch trough the gate al the time? xD
minimum 3 points of siege access seems pretty standard in the game, also so rangers everywhere could feel useful occasionally just by standing at the cat wall PBA’ing a dozen attackers off the cliff.
Hills outer wall is a waste of resources, surely the defenders would just use the cliff for most of the structure. On the below image, the blue is the wasted outer wall and the red is where it COULD be. Or is there an even more efficient placement?
,,,but…..but…but….. I like the blue wall. Makes it really easy for 4 of us to bust through and take Hills while the zergs are busy elsewhere.
Simple reason. Walls look impressive, cliffs are not.
The cliffs of the eastern borderlands maps are pretty sheer, with little vegetation. This can be interpreted in the geologic sense as having a relatively high erosion rate, possibly due to an active fault zone. A wise asura once said, “Don’t build your fortress on the edge of an eroding cliff.”
all classes 80, who is the cheesiest of them all?
gw2 dress-up barbie is the real endgame

What’s the difference between scaling a cliff and scaling a wall?

What’s the difference between scaling a cliff and scaling a wall?
Aside from the obvious difference in smoothness? Try climbing the walls in your room and you’ll find out.
Either way, this is what “hills” really should have been:

Ah my bad, I didn’t know these keeps were made of drywall. Instead of, you know, brick, wood, and stone. ;p

I wish they would just make the walls less of a hindrance for defenders. Why do crenellations on walls do more to block defenders and their siege equipment than attackers? Why do I have to jump up on the edge of a wall, where I can get pulled off, to shoot down? Why do I die repairing the back of a gate that hasn’t been breached yet? Why is it nearly impossible to place siege weapons anywhere near the wall that can’t be readily destroyed with hand weapon attacks? Seems like the walls are often more about decoration than serious defensive structures. Even the murder slots in keep gates are there mostly for decoration.
