Hi,

WvW how do you counter heavy regeneration builds -talking about 1000 HPS with about 40% mitigation?

For example Ranger can come heavy regeneration either condition melee or power bow and I guess other professions can also focus on +healing and regeneration with either high power or high condition and don’t forget about the bird/cat!

I ask because as I want to start a new class -necro- and play condition (S/D) I find myself a little disheartened knowing how my ranger would shred this build?

Just roll a confusion mesmer or engi. Their overpowered nonsense will destroy all.

You will also love fighting anyone that tries to use conditions on you, as you have a heal which is more effective the more conditions it clears on you, and two low-ish cooldown condition transfers.

Any condition based build, especially one that applies poison would be a counter to this.

Confusion, that’s about it…most other fights are stalemates or a win for the Bunker Regen Ranger…

Their is no “overpowered” in a condition/confusion build, Especially mesmers. Condition removal affects confusion, dodging clones also dodges the confusion they stack and finally if you see 5-6 stacks on you….Don’t spam skills. People that cry about confusion are the same ones that cried about Spiteful Spirit and Empathy in the 1st game, Pay attention and these builds aren’t nearly as effective. A good ranger will destroy a confusion mesmer all day.

boonstrips and poison, take the regen off the enemy player as soon is it pops up, and maintain poison.

That’s not true. It’ll be a very long fight and either player can easily reset the fight/run away… but a good ranger won’t destroy a confusion mesmer. In fact, the mesmer will usually win if it goes uninterrupted for long enough.

Zerg them down with a lot more people than they have. Problem solved.

Also if they are using cleric gear they will have low hp but high armor so a few conditions, stuns and you have a dead tank. In those Ranger builds there are passive Health/sec (Natural Healing/Signet of the Wild) that can be giving the build ~350-450 health/sec in addition to the Regens (which always seem to be up)….the passives cant be stripped only diminished with Poison. Add in Troll Unguent for ~1K/sec for 10/25 seconds and you have a very difficult to drop target when you consider high toughness as well.

Depends on the environment, i’d say…on open field without any obstacles to abuse for LOS the ranger would be at an advantage. With more options to use all of his little tricks, the mesmer comes out ahead.

I actually had you in mind when making this post I know a really skilled mesmer will give any class/build a hard time, but how do I as, say a necro, counter your kind of build?

As I also play Ranger I don’t think a condition necro has a chance in a million years but I’m a casual player so looking for advice.

Like others have said you pretty much need to load them up on conditions, also if playing as a necro the Corrupt Boon skill is quite nice if you time it right….

I am surprised no one has said much about D/D eles, maybe I do not play mine enough (lvl 42), but the ones I see in WvW seem to be tanky/regen all day long, granted I do not understand them as well as I probably should…But it seems like they can keep boons up a lot easier than some other classes (with some exceptions of course).

Well conditions just role off ele and the burst is insanely high….
I guess condi necro has no place roaming alone seeing how the meta today is shifting towards heavy regeneration tanky builds.

Ended up in the water at the SE camp on borderlands. I was able to down him in the water, but couldn’t finish him off before his pet got him back up, which he did twice. Finally an ally showed up, but we still struggled. Quaggan guards showed up too, and between the whole lot of us, we killed him.

I know virtually nothing about Rangers’ abilities, but you better believe I’ve started reading up on those.

You’re the only build in the game that will give a regen ranger trouble and can win, no other build has a chance against that kind of mitigation.

What Server you on? Sounds an awful lot like a fight I had 2 days back….was the Ranger a Silvari in Cultural Armor with Owl/Raven (Jellyfish/Armorfish in the Water)

Sent a PM just in case I miss a response here. I’m on Crystal Desert, and your water pets definitely match (don’t remember the land ones). So far as armor is concerned, I keep my WvW settings turned down pretty low for when big battles come up. Everyone looks the same to me.

Boon strip + poison.

I actually don’t have to much trouble with Confusion Mesmer’s, mainly because Mesmer’s in general seem to lack Condition Removal
