Create one area for one server.

Cut and paste and rotate twice to make it look similar to EOTM triangle map

Add bridges and other methods of crossing from one to another.
Or dont, make it so that the bridges must be defended if you want to defend your map or attack another!

There you go saved you up to 66% of development time!

dont u like having 4 maps?
why do u only want 2 maps?

i personally like the homelands more than the eternal battlegrounds…

1) Adding more grass counts as a new map. Maybe more flowers and trees if one wants to be picky.
2) Make a mirror image of the current maps or simply turn them upside down.
3) Periodically bring back the lake.

why do u only want 2 maps?.

I think you read incorrectly, This IS for a borderlands map,

Create this one map then have it set for all 3 BL as the current map is.

As said, instead of spending more time on create a full BL, you can create a third of it, and copypasta it to make it into one full BL. Then use that BL as a new BL for each server.

TBH I just want a change from the current maps we’ve had for 2 years!

I would really like to see a red post post their thoughts on this.

It’s simple, it’ll add new maps real fast (if a dev really is working on WvW), and after 8 months or so you should have 3 new maps, and you then take one segment from each to create a map where the 3 segments are all different.

Someone suggested a while back to just swap the borderlands with the EoTM map every now and then.

It would play differently to how EoTM plays right now as servers would attack and defend as they do in normal WvW but with the nice scenery of the newer map.

Keeps WvW fresh and requires next to no effort to implement.

This is actually true. Instead of getting gimmicky, just have 3 equally balanced sides.

That sounds like an idea. I really don’t care for the borderlands maps at all.

Yeah, you have to rotate it as well

Obviously, but this still reduces development time by up to 66%

WvW desperately needs new content, QoL updates are not real content. Just single new map to replace the BLs will be enough to refresh the current stale state of WvW for several months!

I dont think Anet management realise that the cost of putting resources into develpoing one WvW BL map will do more to help players stay in the game than an entire season or two of Living story!

I think it would be cool if they brought existing PVE maps into WvW, either entirely or in sections (i.e. WvW battles in Queensdale, Lonar’s Pass, or even the cities like Rata Sum, Divinity). Throw in some keeps/towers/camps/control points on them and see what sticks. Obviously city maps would only have control points added. Imagine zerg battles in Divinity. Start them out as EoTM maps, get some gamer feedback, make any necessary adjustments to improve/balance them. Then rotate the gamer approved maps as maybe a 5th map in the main WvW competition. Rotate the 5th map every week with a new map. Sounds easier than it really is, I know, but not impossible. Whatever happens, ANET does need to mix it up in WvW because as much as I love it, it is getting stale.

Infinite time – 66% is still infinite time. I say boot EoTM, make it public testing ground for new maps, patch up some easy stuff, let the karma trains ravage it for a month to check for bugs, and then let it slip into real WvW. Rinse and repeat.

I’ve been a gaming admin for a number of games/leagues since 1990. After a period of time, guilds/clans/teams start calling out for freshness, like new maps. It has been this way since I’ve been an admin. If you don’t give the guilds/clans/teams what they want, you will lose them!

Making one third of a map and cloning it isn’t that difficult, true, provided the map editor allows this process. However it isn’t just a matter of cloning the map how ever many times you need to. There are also entities (as one example) that are tied into each zone/area that must be added or edited accordingly.

Using EoTM as a test area for potential BL maps is a great idea!

To the DEVS – You change the landscape in the PvE aspect of the game with your living story…. don’t you think in WvWvW where a WAR is going on, would change the landscape, too??

4 years and still tick’n… cheers to 4 more!

They’ve already changed the WvW landscape in small ways because of Living Story (the LS folks got miffed when the tourney was getting all the attention, at least that’s my theory).

They could even use such a mechanism for handi-capping mismatches. Red gets an event where they can cause an avalanche on one of the northeast tower switchback (leaving them still a route to attack but they must go further.)

There is a lot that can be done, I just don’t think there are any resources going into it other than maybe a neglected suggestion box in the ANet break room.

Did you forget the time that global warming destroyed the quaggans habitat and dried up the lakes in the borderlands and then a civilisation appeared in it’s place due to a rogue wormhole and then 100 years passed due to a concentrated time vortex and aged that area into the ruins we know today?

That was a good WvW story update!

Yeah I forgot they nerfed the Quaggans… poor things!
Even if the story was good it is sad they got canned :P

But they didn’t change the landscape drastically enough to make it feel fresh… IMO

Still no reply from a mod or dev.

I am little displeased seeing as a dev is on the forums now asking peopel how they would like to see siege trolls fixed as well as server imbalances.

Surely new maps, something everyone wants in order to get away from the stale state of the current WvW, is something they really need to consider; and this suggestion allows a map to be made in relatively no time at all!

Copy and paste will not work. Take 2 points on the map, A & B separated by a dozen tiles. The problem you will encounter if you want to rotate A & B is that there could be an elevation difference in the tiles between them. Just look out your window and flip/rotate one small section of what you see, you could end up with a ditch sitting higher then the road level!
