Before this I’ve seen many posts of the WvW players not getting any attention, now you’ve got attention by an “Forum Specialist” who will review what’s being said and give these things DIRECTLY to his/her corresponding Anet employee.

Stop treating this dude like a joke, enlighten him with all your experience and help him to give good feedback to his Anet contact!

Even if it would be, if they aren’t supporting their “Forum Specialist” they won’t get the things they’d like to get.

First of all, you didn’t hire anyone – See it as a trainee / volunteering job.

Anet gave him this possibility, so you’ll have the choice to work with him or just work against him.

If he really was a WvW Forum Specialist, he would have seen this coming a mile off. All the time he had spent in this forum would have prepared him for his introduction better. Other posters would already be used to his name and even view point, because a wvw forum specialist would already have a ton post in this forum.

I don’t think the WvW Forum Specialist needs to be the world’s best or most active WvW player. His kill count is somewhat irrelevant.

I do think it would have been better for ArenaNet to select somebody ALREADY ACTIVE in this community. It’s a puzzling choice. That’s not to cast any aspersion on Marmatt who could be a perfectly reasonable guy.

But if the collective response is “Who?!” followed by a lot of head-scratching, it’s worthy of at least some measured expression of discontent.

Nice rant, now try to find positive things how you can work with this “inexperienced player”.

You can all play “victim” as much as you want, though I haven’t seen one single comment of anyone willing to try. You’re so offended that it sounds like it’s not even an option to see what he can mean for your WvW community.

And once again you are the victim here, just because you can’t deal with their “lies” doesn’t mean you should do things to get yourself banned

Honestly, I kind of think that anyone verbally abusing the guy over his experience level is proving exactly the reason why they wouldn’t be a good fit for the position. He’s suppose to remain objective and relay feedback. Typically that requires some level of tact.

But regardless, he volunteered for this and was chosen. If you want any positive results at all, help the guy do what he’s here to do. Don’t drive him off.

A valid point, if you look at the time between announcing Precursor crafting and implementing it. Though it’s a step in the right direction

So the fact that you had to have an account without any Infraction point… the 99.99% of the wvw forum community is unacceptable.

I got an IP for as much as saying that ANET’s game is comparable to a much more profitable company who has 9M subscribers. But I did this on the WvW forums so I got infracted LOL.

Anyways: Marmatt is a toast now but after a few days/weeks we gonna learn how to work with him… He is our only hope…

And this makes me sad

The icing on the cake is the fact that the other thread hasn’t even been locked yet. People are literally attacking the new guy and I’m starting to wonder how many pages deep it’ll get before ANet gets around to doing something.

Poor Marmatt is going to need a lot of help in here. It’s funny that they gave PvP 2 specialists when they already have real devs and community managers visiting that page on a daily basis posting. You’d think they would have chosen half a dozen people to handle this forum.

I think you will find people just don’t believe it will do any good whatsoever and feel it is just another attempt to pacify the natives.

There is no indication that there is anyone senior to actually report to. Even if there is, how senior is that person (ie can they actually make anything happen about the points raised?). Does that person have a budget, a team to fix things, a plan to make things happen, or is this just going to go the way of previoud CDI’s, suggestions, etc and be shovelled in to the corner of the office marked ‘read when you want a laugh’.

Perhaps if the man in charge of all the design teams and programmers came on here and said that the forum specialists report directly to him and they have funding and resources in place to deal with issues raised then it would be a worthwhile exercise (as long as something actually was done instead of lip service).

As it is, he might as well be reporting to the janitor’s email address for all the changes we can expect as a result of having a ‘forum specialist’ reporting to some nameless soul.

Sorry if that is overly pessimistic, I would be delighted to be proved wrong. In fact, prove me wrong and I’ll donate an extra £100 to the RBL this year.

Regardless of what you think, no matter what they do, add, or change, someone will always want something else and hate something about it.

Stuff wasn’t getting through when we had dev’s here. Now it’s going to run via a proxy, a proxy of someone who has had very limited community interaction at all. Let alone in the WvW aspect of the game.

I don’t expect anything to really change, at all. I just find it funny people would willingly take the heat for arenanet, and that the pvp forum get’s two “specialists”. And those worry me more as arenanet pretty much follows pvp when it comes to “balance”.

But ultimately I believe they are simply pacifiers. Why else would they announce them? Seems like it would make their job quite a bit more difficult if they are walking around with a giant target on their chest, but apparently it was more important that we know they are walking around.

I think there needs to be more than one WvW specialist. There are multiple sides to wvw. There are big ppt heroes, the roamers/scouts, the guilds who zergbust and gvg.
