From April last year we’ve been in a beta for server pairings – one server is the host, and the other is guest server and they act as one server using the hosts name. So this can mean anything from 2-3 servers paired together to act as one but if the server as a standalone is big enough then it is usually not paired with anyone else.
Currently after a poll was made it was decided that pairings would last for 2 months (being on a rotation so that means you could end up being paired with another random server), ending on the last Friday or something but the date can be moved forward/backward depending, but generally in the 2month zone.
If you check the wvw main window, hover your mouse over your current server name (it has a + on it) and you will see your server name and the server you are paired with.
Do you mean like fixed servers? For now the pairings are still under beta and we do not know what direction anet will decide to take yet so it is still 50/50 if this will be a regular thing or if it will be reverted to the previous way it was if the population becomes healthy again – we as players do not know how it will go.
