Q:
….. And Elementalist.
Q:
Just a curious question about how roamers and players feel about being zerged by 15:1 odds then emoted on, am I wrong to assume it just means that the guild doing so is trashy and unskilled?
I personally really enjoy my roaming, but there are some servers where I say f this and stick to a blob until either I have 5+ guildies or the match up is over.
Have any other solo roamers been deterred from roaming due to this?
This sadly is something that will always happen, especially when they are really unskilled and can’t 10vs1 me as a thief leaving me with 5kills and a safe way out. They always take revenge by jumping and dancing on my body when they kill me. I actually don’t mind it and it is better to just ignore this kind of behavior and get your revenge by killing them later on
I will not ever give up solo roaming as long as I can do things as described above
I call it the BG special.
It always gets a laugh out of me when people do this after big groups kill me. Then I keep an eye out for the people who did it, and kill them if I can catch them 1v1. /shrug and let them bleed out of down state and go on my way.
I hate it. When I use /laugh I want to laugh AT, not with the enemy player!

No no, you gotta invite them to party and give them a piece of your mind!
I almost always roam in WvW, since being part of a mindless zerg just isn’t really my thing. I have also pvp’d across various MMOs for about 11 years and emoting is a huge pet peeve of mine. For example when I am winning by a large margin against someone and they escape via zerg/npc help and start emoting me…. I just don’t get it. So you are good at running? Congratulations? At least when I tuck my tail and run I know I’m being a kitten who doesn’t want to die. To each their own I suppose.
That’s why you find them and get them back. It’s all part of the game. Don’t complain about it. I would like a /rude emote tbh.
I never gloat over killing another player. Well, almost. The one (and so far only) occasion I’ve done so was when I was in Obsidian Sanctum doing the JP. Ran into two FA players from the same guild at the section just before the well. They attacked me as soon as I got close, without any provocation. Well, OK. Maybe they thought they’d better get in the first attack in case I was going to backstab them.
I respawned, waited about 5 minutes for them to get further ahead in the JP, then started the run again. Turns out they decided to camp on the trap triggers in the section after the well. Despite ignoring them and doing my best to bypass them with mobility skills, they knocked me off the walls to my death.
Respawn again. I notice a Ranger from my server heading into the JP, so I decided I’d better follow. Sure enough, the two FA players are still there, and also attacking the Ranger while she was in a bad spot to defend herself. She gets downed and almost killed, but her pet manages to keep her alive. Then, one of the FA players makes the mistake of jumping down to try and finish her off. Since the FA players show no signs of being peaceful, I join the battle and down and stomp the second player. The Ranger and I then head back up the stairs to jump again, and the first FA player (a Thief) jumps down to try and gank me from behind. He fails and tries to run when the Ranger turns back to help me, but some snares ensure he can’t escape his coming punishment.
After we stomped him, I couldn’t resist spamming /laugh a few times. Serves him right for trying to slaughter peaceful, lone players. Not so tough once the odds and the terrain don’t favour you, huh?
As an addendum, we ran into a Maguuma player in the dark room afterwards. He was peaceful, so we let him be. :P (He was probably lucky that the FA pair didn’t catch up to him and kill him too.)
Some people have no class.
It’s hard not to laugh when a Thieve manages to get itself killed.

If your getting mad at a bunch of nerds emoting you after they zerg you down then take some time away from the game. The emoters don’t care and won’t remember they emoted you 10 seconds after they do it. Emotes are thrown around so much in every game that any true emotion in them is lost anyway. They would send a message or invite if they had something to say.
No this doesn’t deter me from solo roaming… People sitting at keyboards typing /laugh. Its stupid
People always seem to bring this up. I’m starting to believe that I’m the only one that plays without emotes showing in my chat log. <.<
If the other side is emoting a lot, I tend to do it back. Or for revenge.. like when 8 of them killed me and cheered… We ran into their group later, killed them, and cheered on top of them. Luckily, you cannot read personalized remotes, so I’m ok with the current state of emoting in wvw. You shoukdnt take the game so seriously to let it bother you.
People who get offended by emotes need to grow a pair.
But everybody knows that they grow faster if you’re jumping alot on someone.
As a thief I get laugh and point emotes a lot. It gets tiresome.
Oh yea emotes, something i turned off a looooooong time since some people tend to spam and its completely useless
It is, though not intended as such, a compliment.
I hate it. When I use /laugh I want to laugh AT, not with the enemy player!
Just use the “/laugh @” emote.
Anyway, I turned off emotes a long time ago as well. Too many people spamming emotes non-stop in some of our match ups.
I do the reverse: if I’m about to be run over by a zerg I will just /sit.
If they’re going to treat me like a practice dummy, that’s the level of challenge I’m going to offer them.

Which is BS. No one profession should be able to do this.
I /shrug when I get picked off by players from a 3rd server are camping spawn or the entrance to a keep where a huge fight is going on. I mean I get it, but its just really annoying to me. So if I can’t get past them I just stand there and /shrug repeatedly and not defend myself. Its really funny when it takes a long time to kill me. Then I try to be an kitten by interrupting their stomps. Basically just waste their time. It’s a mutual pettiness.
The only possible acceptable use of emotes is on a thief that tried to stealth up and gank you. Otherwise pretty clkitten.
I don’t have emotes showing and for the most part do not use them myself. On rare occasions I will /salute.
