Guild Wars 2

So I’ve finally started playing Wv3 with my level 80 Engineer and I’m really enjoying it. I wasn’t aware before I started though that it’s not like PvP in that you’re using your actual gear and money.

How do you afford to play WvWvW? I’m assuming that I’ll eventually get hit with repair costs, paying for siege weapons, and all the other things. At level 80 I’m down to 1.5 gold and don’t seem to be making anymore. What are people’s gold earning tactics in game?

If you run with a good enough group you make money. I run with a group of 5-10 and I never worry about losing money. I’d say I make about 2 gold a night.

Follow commander icons which usually has the zerg with it is your best chance at making money. If your commander is good or the other server is asleep you should fair well.

I make a steady 2-5g a day in daily wvw rewards not counting what I make on market or components farming, which is more than WvW rewards.

Following a commander tends to earn a lot more cash than not in MOST cases IMO. If enemy has you pretty locked down it does get tougher but not impossible to still do turn overs at least.

Gank groups make more more rewards money, but the zerg might get more badges and junk sales. Solo missions don’t pay well for the time investments but are sometimes necessary.

Supply camps give over a silver on takeover.
Dolyak kills give like 49 copper.
Sharks sometimes give 77 copper.
It’s really easiest to PVE for the money because of the risk of being killed anywhere in PVP which will put you at a silver loss each time.
Sometimes I run naked thru iffy enemy places until I know I’m at a safer place then I get dressed. Then in case I run into a death it only costs me the time to run back, not armor repair.

Same with siege weapons – we call them suicide runs on our server. If someone plinks down siege on the battlefield and your spawn is close, you just kamikaze suicide toward the siege past their zerg naked and get some hits on it, you can even hit it while downed if you don’t get instant stomped. That gets it gone pretty quickly and no armor repair, just your pride in the pooper but sometimes it needs to be done, get that siege down to save more lives.
