If you need to move across the map to get to your squad and you try to run solo to them, you’re dead unless you’re geared for a 1v1, and that’s assuming they’re not going to 3/4/5 v 1 you.

How do you deal with this kitten? I don’t want to change my build just to catch up with my group every time I come into WvW, and there’s not always people to run with to get to them. You can’t even be at the back of your squad anymore without a kittenter group trying to pick people off.

What class are you playing?

I play an elementalist (builds in my forum signature link) – I have no problems beating them because they can’t burst me like they can with squishier people. My guardian build fares well against them as well. Both of which are set up for roaming and 1v1 kind of play.

Also as a side note, I want to help you – but I also find this to be funny because I am one of those people picking off people trying to get back to their zerg. But I don’t do it on stealth classes, I do it on my Elementalist or Guardian generally.

Your build and what class you play will have a major impact on what happens, but also individual skill is going to come in to play when you’re fighting someone who is LOOKING for a person to pick off that is just trying to run to their zerg.

1. Changing utilities and/or a weapon requires only a few mouse klicks, but can make a huge difference when it comes to surviving/escaping or dieing.

2. Learn to fight 1vs1. Yes, even if you don’t want to fight those gankers and aren’t build for 1vs1, knowing when to dodge and how to counter their skills will help a lot. The average “zerg player” doesn’t die 1vs1 only because of his build. It might be a disadvantage for him, sure. But many would lose with any build, because they have never learned how to get along outside of their zerg’s safety.

If they outnumber you with builds suited for ganking (high burst/cc/mobility), there isn’t much you can do though, outside of waiting for help or going a different way.

Run about 20 feet away. Drop a stealth trap. Stand on top of it. Be patient. Stealth ego will refuse to not try to gank you.

Kill.

Then bow.

  • Take a more obtuse road. IE Not out the front door of EB keep to SM.
  • Run stealth yourself, or a runaway build until you reach the zerg.
  • Avoid sentries. That tells them you’re there.
  • Grab a friend and hold hands.
  • You need mobility regardless, if you are being picked off at the tail, then you are lacking in that area.
For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I have to agree with Archon…..avoid sentries and be sure to take an off-the-beaten-path route to get back to the zerg. Don’t take main routes, and stay off the paths/roads.

What kind of stealth gankers are you talking about?
A group of 3 thieves just sitting on a random route and farming anyone who passes by? There is no counter to being outnumbered. Clench your buttcheeks and keep running.
If we are talking about single gankers or stalkers following a group, the answer is quite simple: Keep running and punch them in the face whenever they show up. Don’t try to catch them, just punch them hard and continue to your original destination whenever they attempt to reset the fight.
You will never beat them by playing their game or by trying to avoid them. stand tall and kick them in the face whenever they show up.

This is part of the game. They are built to cut off reinforcements and you are built to reinforce. Your choices are move in a group, adjust your build to move faster/tank/stealth or find alternate routes. A group is often the best way but most classes have decent escape mechanisms that can be switched on for going somewhere and then switched back when you get there.

Run whatever mvspd signet/trait you have, and bring any leaps you have, and slot any stunbreakers you have. You’ll rarely win a 1v2 unless you’re built for it, so I’d focus on just moving around and sticking with peeps.

Don’t run from them! When they pop out of stealth, like they always do (out of nowhere) when you’re skipping through the daisies humming, quick evade backwards, turn and fight them. You may die, but making them work for it is always more fun, and if you run they won’t let you go anyway.

Edit: Stealth traps are fun too, if you have backup and supply.

You don’t necessarily need to fight them.

Turn on them with a cc and alot will back off momentarily. Use that moment to move towards a friendly/friendly objective. Repeat those moments. If you let someone free-cast into you they will obviously win everytime.

There is also water, thieves can kill underwater but they will have a much harder time doing it while trying to chase.

Oh and if you are awesome you are norn, and that means snow leopard.

I usually play a guardian, and when I need to regroup with squad I change my build from shouts frontline into meditation build. I swap utilities, few traits weapons, amulet, ring and one trinket.

Change takes me 10s to do and I can do it while walking.

The medi build I swap to wont be the best, but it is able to either escape or fight most players.
