I am having this same problem on my ele, too. I hear all these heavies “OMG< LOOT BAGS FOR MILES” and I am over here thinking “Why didn’t I get anything more than a spike, a green, a blue, and a tiny loot bag? WTF!” So if I am hitting people for 8k+, on several, and they die……..why don’t I get bags?
(My aoe loot is bound to my V key, and I am clicking it like crazy the entire time)
Its all about AoE, you need to tag as many people as possible during the fights. If yor hitting single targets you will be dissapointed with the amount of loot you receive.
Just roll a necro! Loot bag problems solved.

OK just happened again. We wiped like 20-25 of them. I had 20 loot bags before the fight and 20 after. Landed a perfect Meteor Storm + Tornado right on their heads and stayed on them in tornado for the full duration with numbers everywhere. Didnt get a single bag. I run support 0/0/10/30/30 with Valk gear so maybe my damage sucks?

focus on Dungeons, Fractals and Raiding.
Was on my Ele in a group with 2 warriors and a Guardian. We went up against a blob of like 40. I was never downed once during the fight.
This…. 4v40 I have to see.

Here’s my impression.
You need to do X amount of damage to a target to be in the chance for a loot bag.
You need to do Y amount of damage where Y is a percentage of the total damage done by a large group in a short amount of time.
So in the second instance if you have a massive blob rushing a tower lord, the tower lord will melt in a couple seconds. You might do a few thousand damage over a hit or two. Usually this is enough to tag for a bag, but when your couple thousand damage is in competition vs 59 other players dealing many thousands more, you miss out.
Class loot disparity. You think eles have it hard? Try playing a mesmer some time. You have no idea.
There’s actually a pretty simple formula for this. The more guardian you are and the more you smash auto-attack on staff, the more loot bags will drop. Don’t expect the quality of that loot to improve from your earlier experience though.

For some reason i drop more when i go D/D…
The damage and the target hit doesn t change much (staff ele can t attack more often in zergs while D/D can only hit run and get back) but in the end D/D fulls bags decently (not as much as a necro or guardian) and Staff ele gets really few bags.
Its mostly about meteor shower because fire 2 works fine.
P.S:its not the damage….i run half celestial half zerker the damage is more than fine (4000 per meteor at least)
P.P.S. i don t think loot bags disappears ….they go away if you respawn…but afaik you can stay dead for 5 min and if someone ress you you get the bags….dunno if they disappear after more than 5 minutes.
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.

The days when people played WvW for fun, not loot bags.
They need to balance auto attacks to deal more damage because I don’t get enough lootbags for spamming them
As long as you get one hit in, you qualify for loot as long as your party has done enough damage overall.
Might be a magic find problem on your side.
If you get a heavy or a tiny loot bag, depends on the level of the player you killed.
Bloin – Running around, tagging Keeps, getting whack on Scoobie Snacks.
Key to getting loot bags:
Do AOE dmg to downed players.

Nah, thats not it. My magic find is well over 150%. Infact, my ranger gets more bags (but so boring to play).
Handsomely compared to WvWers.
