How is this suppose to be played?
The name says it all.
World vs World
You expect only 2 people fighting you? No you face a whole server
Best you can do is increase your structures with arrow carts and recap the camps the enemy is taking.
And you are doing a good job escorting the dolyaks. Keep it up!
Obvious troll or not. He has a point.
No-one defends because its not worth the time.
1 of 2 things happens. First you defend because after 30 seconds they leave. Or 2 they over whelm you easily and all your efforts were for nothing. They get rewards.. you get a repair bill.
Its more fun, and more rewarding to zerg the game. To PvD everything and get that loot. If you defend.. even successfully. You are sacrificing your wxp, xp, money gain, and achievment points (except for a few).
Is this REALLY what we want as a WvW community? This is what Anet wants its been proven over the last year.
Stat increase = gear grind.
Gear grind = no money from me ever again.
hein? Maybe i got missunderstood…
Near release i did invested a bit more time in GW2, from listening to podcast such as Tales of Tyria and such, i was aware of the so-called zerg-meta and how that’s a problem and what changes may be implemented to avoid this (removing orange swords, radically buffing siege weapons, applying massive debuffs when groupped with a lot of people).
My intent was trully to try and reach out and see wheather the community had found ways to get the gameplay they like from the game they enjoy, maybe in that regard i am a troll. Sorry to waste your time then…
@Megatron well i wasn’t focusing on keeping a buff on the dolyak, only buffing it in-between trips.
The name says it all, i agree, but like i said me and the random player got squished by a group of about 5/6 players, not a zerg.
Map’s big, many points to fight for, so why a zerg.
Nevermind, i’ll link this thread in my guild’s forum, see if i can find a small group of mates that feel the way i do, it’s just that i’m returning from a small hiatous.
Thank you all for your feedback.
Not a troll according to message history.
Flipping objectives is more productive in the way of getting shinies (drops, WXP and now materials). You don’t have to roam with zerg at all, I rarely do because of skill lag. It would be fun if objectives actually meant something, but current format it is all about flipping objectives.
me and the random player got squished by a group of about 5/6 players
This is also part of your answer. In addtion to being more rewarding, being in a zerg is safer – safety in numbers.
If you run solo or with a small group, it can be great fun. But sometimes, like Mr. Miyagi said, you’re going to get squished like a grape in the middle of the road. So you just gotta shake it off when you do.
I have been involved in a few epic siege battles that have lasted hours and been something like out of the book Legend by Gemmell, both defending and attacking BUT it is a very, very rare occurance.
WvW is best played as a 30-40+ zerg or a 5 player group or a solo/roamer/scout.
The zerg will get by FAR the best rewards, probably 5x what the 5 player group would get and 20x what the solo player would get.
But all 3 roles are needed by a server to make tier 1 and stay there. The hardest roles to fill are those of solo scout/fortification guard because they are fairly boring and unrewarding roles.
Running with a Zerg can be fun…running with a small team ninja capping objectives is also fun. Beautiful thing about GW2…you can choose to do what you want.
