How much health does a gate have?
My gut tells me that we will never know exactly. For some reason ArenaNet doesn’t seem to want us to know things such as how much HP a mob/boss has or how much HP the player we’kittengeting has. I REALLY wish they would add an option to show the HP or at least percent of HP left of our target.
This to me feels like another poor limit of the games UI. It’s missing so much. Hell the combat log doesn’t even know my pet’s attacks or various dot tick damage I have done to some target. So much useful information that is obviously being fed to our game client but we aren’t allowed to see.

I wonder why they allow this 2nd rate combat log, it makes them look 2nd rate as well and they can’t want that.
best statistical loot in the game. We want everyone on equal power base.”
Has nothing to do with arena net, has to do with people actually doing the math after hitting it with a ram a number of times. Thought I would ask before I inevitably do the calculation myself.
I agree the combat log is severely limited and that we should be able to see numbers and not just life bars.
The combat log is first rate. I like it better this way. Seems more organic and leaves it on the player to make judgement calls.
I think too much information is bad. One example that threw me off is after playing GW GvG a lot and having to constantly guess who is being spiked, on WoW I found the game would tell me who the target of my target is. Really? They’re just gonna spoon feed me that? Numbers on boss’ cooldowns, numbers on who does what damage, numbers on healing (this one always seemed weird.. I’d always think a healer who healed the least and kept the party up would be best!), might as well just play with a spreadsheet.
The game should not be the interface.
Edit: I got nothin against the OP’s quest to get an idea of how many ram hits of whatever. More a response to the other posts.
I personally don’t want people to know how much HP the enemys has because for one, i hate thieves. Wat does that have to do with anything? well it determines if a thief will know if he can one shot you or not, regardless that he will do it anyways, but having the statistical number out there will make it so much easier for him to determine, because he will be saying, yeah i can hit people for about 20kdmg average, so this character has 18k HP, oooo free kill. I personally just rolled a vitality/toughness/power build on my mesmer to counter thieves that do this very thing, even if i can’t kill them. (as they will stealth away if i am winning), it increases my survivability as not many people build mesmers this way. I am not saying I’m pro or anything, but giving out the stats to other enemies wouldn’t work towards my favor, and this is just my output of things.
ps
Just as much people that hates mesmers, i hate glass cannon thieves.
