How to fix Night Capping problems

That would probably work, if Anet actually implemented it ~ for now though, at least in the near future all of the WvWvW match-ups are going suck for alot of players. Failing that, they could always shut down WvWvW during off-peak hours.

If you want that sort of game, go play world of tanks, preferably in Africa. Here we fight 24/7.
Nightcapping is not a problem , it’s a tactic.This is war so every tactic is legal , you can’t blame someone to fight while you sleep in your bed.It’s their choice and tactic in WvW…

Too many variables.
It won’t work because the matches would then be decided by who has the most bodies during the offpeak period of those prime times.
Light that wont happen because it would be prime times and servers would be queued for wvw so yeah this idea is perfect and would work

The solution is VERY easy…I believe to counter night capping and fix the issue at hand all arenanet needs to do is see which servers cap the most points during certain hours and pair up servers by prime times also along with rank…If one server earns more points durign a certain time frame match them up with another server whose prime time is at the same time keep the rankings similar at the same time…seems like a no brainer to me.
so who gets matched against the 24/7 max coverage of Henge of Denvari?

Which is what the matchmaking system is supposed to do in the long run.
I actually suggested this and was almost immediately shot down a couple days ago. The idea is great and all but there’s always the case of the population imbalance.
There can be low population servers matched up against each other and one server has better 24/7 coverage than the others, making their point cap higher than others.
Now in the situation where you put said server against a high population server, such as HoD, they are more than likely to get mauled, no offense to the server, but the population just isn’t there.

I think there should be more ladders, a ladder like it is now, then a ladder for the Night ( 0 – 12 hour) there you can see who is the best at Night/Morning and a ladder for the day time (12 – 0 hour) there you can see who is best at day time.
For Matchups it stays as it it, cause in some month Nightcappers play against Nightcappers. But all Server which are better at Day Time can see who is the best at daytime. The Nightcapper see who is the best at Night.
Nothing as to change only more Ladders have to be made

Knowing that Europe alone goes from UTC+0 to UTC+6 (taking only the “europe part” of Russia into consideration), how do you define days and nights ? Same thing for NA servers, 4 time zones to take into account. Oh, and there is no Asian/Oceanic servers too…

It’s not a tactic. That is just a cop out. Capping things with less resistance should result in less points. End of story. Anyone who argues otherwise just wants to keep their advantage from night capping.

They dont need to call it night and day, only make statistics where you compare to other server who have the same Primetime.

It’s not perfect. You are dismissing so many variables that could change the outcome of a server’s population on a weekly basis that this idea is nothing more than a brainderp which your mind disguises as pure genius.
To name a few things:
National/Religious holidays. European servers (EN) are matched against the French and the Germans, who may or may not have national holidays (ranging up to a week, perhaps) that would allow them to dominate an entire server battle. Would you prefer the French and Germans would only pit against each other? Let alone unofficial “national”/community servers created on 3rd party forums or communities.
The time it would take to acquire all this information: it would take years to gather all the information to get a view on how server population peaks and drops during certain seasons. During the summer, less people will be playing the game than during winter, however it might be the other way around on a different server for whatever reason, yetthey could be equal in perhaps spring and autumn. You would need several years to gather data for comparison, and that is assuming people/guilds do not transfer/quit playing or anything else that might upset the balance.
In the same sense as the above, expansions would call back players whom had quit over the prior year/years, upsetting the server balance anew, as a constant influx of new players/veterans returning to the game, is something you cannot predict.
I could go on and on, but my point was that you shouldn’t call your plan perfect by dismissing other people’s worries and/or opinions without any substantional reasoning.
This is what is going to happen inevitably anyway.
So far the outcome of WvW is decided by night-cappers, not by the hundreds of people who fight during the day. So a few weeks from now, all the top servers will be the ones with heavy night activity.
