How to fix WvW (no really I know how)
Again, Outmanned is not to make things easier for you, it’s meant to reward you more for your efforts.
WvW is War. There really isn’t a single game mechanic in WvW that’s meant for balance.

Changing the outmanned buff: I agree. More supply would help quite a bit.
Resetting the server: Can’t agree here, IMHO holding locations should just award you less points during the night and NPC’s should be much tougher during the night. Night capping ruins a lot of the matchups. Not the best team wins, but the team that happens to have more people active during the night. Playing during peak hours has absolutely no impact. If I capture a supply camp during the night, it helps my team more, then capturing stonemist castle during the day. That is the sad truth.
Orbs: There obviously needs to be a way for a server to stage a come back, when one server has 3 of the Orbs. If Orbs hold no significance in WvW however, no one will give akittenabout them. Maybe it could be changed to:
Holding an orb in your starting Altar of power (the one in the north) awards you points per time. The enemy can capture those Orbs to receive those points themself, but they reset after a certain amount of time. This would obviously only work, when the Altar of power in the north would actually have some kind of defense. The NPC’s right now are laughable.
Killing 20 enemies with 5 people is all the reward I require. But it’s frequently 5 vs. 50.. at that point, outmanned NEEDS to do something to make battle possible or there will be no battle. WvW isn’t war, it’s a game mode that requires 2 sides to want to do it or it ends for everyone.
Then you start to get into that whole Wintergrasp scenario of those 5 guys getting buffed to become raid bosses and just start wrecking their way through armies.

The problem with your first suggestion is that MMOs are big international things now, so short of giving each zone their own set of servers it isn’t practical to penalise a server just because they have a good spread of WvW players 24/7 whilst the server they are playing doesn’t.
No, I don’t come from one of those servers – Sea of Sorrows is very much an Oceanic server – prime time we do ok as long as we aren’t zerged off the map but during the day it’s a different story.
I replied similarly in yet another one of these threads, I don’t know what the solution is – A.Net seems to want players to police themselves which is rarely going to happen since people stick (and head to) servers that are winning.
I’m sure (I hope anyway) that A.Net is taking all these posts on board and putting together plans to ensure it is running as smoothly as it can be – seeing as WvW was a big draw for a lot of players. It would be a real shame if it didn’t realise it’s full potential.

True, but games are suppose to be fun. It’s not fun being Poland vs Germany.
The biggest problem is the snowballing effect. The longer a team wins the more secure their victory is. They gather more orbs so their players deal more damage and live longer. They gather more supply and upgrade their positions so they can hold them longer. They’ll have more resources to lay siege weapons and take objectives more quickly.
Throw in a population imbalance that gives one team the edge and due to the snowballing effect they become unbeatable.

But players are free to judge for themselves whether they want to have a little fun, or no fun at all while queueing for a chance to have loads of fun once they get in.

So you see what i mean? None of those mechanics were designed to be fair or for balance. None of them are in place to make the game easier for the losing side. None of them are meant to make the game more difficult for the winning side.
The game doesn’t give a kitten whether you’re winning or losing. If you manage to organize enough people to achieve something, do it. There’s no policing a war.
This. is not. a war.
It’s a video game.
A competition that requires 2 sides to want to compete, or no one gets to play.
Have fun sitting on the wall of your keeps telling the guards how awesome you are at war when there’s no one to fight. The system is broken.
You seem to have your own idea of what this game should be
ArenaNet obviously doesn’t agree with you. Neither are they trying to recreate RvR or DAoC. They’re making their own game, and they want their game to be like this.
Why do you feel like this game should be like what you think it should?
I would have to say to make it more competitive for all tiers outmanned should increase battle prowess where as orbs should be something cool but not entirely needed.
Outmanned should be what orbs do now, more health and damage to keep it competitive.
Orbs: i don’t know, decrease costs of upgrades by 5% per orb. Increase karma or gold gains. Something that means something in the long run for those farming and want to conserve gold but nothing that will make the winning team stronger.
Here’s something to consider. If they have no intention of WvW being fair.. then why is there a 5 target AoE cap? My 5 man group can set up a perfect kill zone with balistas and arrow carts but still lose a keep to 65 enemies with no siege or battle plan beyond walking in a straight line into balista fire because the game artificially protects them from losing too many idiots in 1 shot. It protects the bandwagon zerg from inferior numbers.. how awesome is that.
the system is not broken.. its the players tat are broken

WvWvW has been incredibly successful in GW2, however there are several changes I would very much appreciate, along with some additions I believe will make it better.
The Maps
The maps, while very good, get incredibly boring after a while. I would like to see new maps in the future, jungles, swamps, mountains, cities… The present maps I believe seem boring. You have some cliffs, then huge tracks of flat snowy land that is boring to look at after a while. It is too easy to traverse, and makes traveling seem much longer than it really is. Have you ever been in a long car ride? It feels like that. I hate snow. I refuse to play norn now becuase of this. The lake in the center is just a giant hole filled with Krait. Where are thesunken ships? The Towers of slaves? The maps are just so flat and bland the only excitement is in a zerg, becuase there is color… not some giant expanse of lifeless snow..
Another issue I find is the lack of life in keeps, towers, etc. Why am I defending here exactly? Theres no people, no life, no real reason other than for some random points that pop up. I would like to see more npcs, they dont have to attack. They just need to be there to add to the immersion and “why am I even here?”.
The Mechanics and Siege
So far, the basic functions have been great, with the exception of some balancing. It is confusing to get into WvWvW at first, and I would like to see a future tutorial for newer people. However there is one problem that kind of erks me: the simple knocking down of the door. I hate that. It is boring most of the time, and you often dont even face any real competition from the defenders. I have an idea to fix that: add more npc defense to the keeps (this would also help in the lfieless problem I said above), and give the attackers more siege.
Steps and Ladders
One type of siege I’ve thought up are ladders, or even wall siege.Basically, they allow for the transport of people over the wall. They would be very expensive, allow only a small amount of people in at a time, and would have to be placed right by the wall, where it is mrope easily created. These would help greatly in the siege of walled places, and add another layer of fun to the game, instead of everyone centering themselves around the door. The gate wouldn’t have to be open to do this.
Walls
Another seige weapon for the offensive people can be walls. They would be relatively weak, cheap, but would take a small amount fo time to set up. This would help greatly in the event a group of people have set up 10000 arrow carts on the walls of a keep, the walls would “block” the siege and allow players to hide behind it. One limit however is that they can not be placed right next to each other, and can be passed though by anyone. This would allow for much more organized play, and add to the immersion of WvWvW sieging.
Server Pride
I don’t know the name of my server. I don’t care. I may be the onyl one, but I feel no server pride. Quite frankly this should be changed all together, and I propose something completely new to this:
Alliance and Guild pride Pride
This would be much better. Guild would be able to cap and “flag” as normal keeps and towers. However, “Allaince Flags” would be on the StoneMist Castle. The point of this is to feel proe for your community, whether or not your in a guild or not. Putting mroe focus on Guilds and Alliances would allow for more organized competition, and more pride for your sevrer overall. Adding some small “shows” would greatly increase pride, such as fireworks spelling out alliance names over Stonemist Castle, NPC conversations about the score at that moment… such as “It seems insert server name here isnt doing to good…” or “The Allince insert name here has captured the castle!”. NPC parties within the castles would insue, opening up chances to buy crafting materials, holiday stuff, etc. to whoever controls the castle at that moment. All tese things would be rather small, simple implementations and woudl drastically affect how I (and I am sure other people) would feel about the thigns they fight for.
Edit: Also make the games longer for politics sake. Maybe up to a month. I have yet to play 2 weeks yet as we have not reached that point, but I expect it to be to short.
Please post your thoughts! I also posted this in the suggestions forum, however I find that those aren’t as looked at as these… so I’ll just leave this here
