I’ve heard alot of lol about alliances and how they can’t happen/be maintained/etc.
So I have a nifty little common sense guide of some key points for forming and maintaining an alliance.
1. Identify why an alliance would be good for you AND another server.
2. Learn who the biggest WvW guilds on that server are.
3. Get in contact with those guilds as well as guilds on your own server.
4. Make an agreement and make sure both sides know what guilds are in on it.
5. Make sure this agreement has a set end point. IE until end of match, until even score, etc.
6. Make sure this agreement outlines what to do if the enemy server is not present. Be realistic, people do not like to sit around bored.
7. Establish lines of mutual communication and maintain them at all times.
8. Communication, communication, communication. Don’t attack this, one of X guilds is attacking that…get control of your guys, we are gonna attack X you attack Y, etc. Communication is vital.
9. Keep the allied servers on opposite sides of the map except for guild specific sweeps by trusted groups. Seriously people. No need to tempt fate on accidental infighting.
10. Both sides must be aware that many people on both servers will still attack each other. But the biggest guilds of each side will still generally control the flow of battle. Be patient and if thigns happen that shouldn’t then go back to #8. COMMUNICATE before table flipping lol.
11. If you are going to end the alliance, end it formally. Do not back stab, do not get lazy and “forget”. Reputation matters and your betrayal will be remembered. Don’t burn bridges and make hated enemies you do not have to. Also, your reputation gets around to other servers…..think about that.
12. Treat each other with respect, this cannot be stressed enough. Before, during, and after. When going into an alliance everyone is a respected equal.
There ya go. Some common sense advice on how to form and maintain alliances. Use it to crush your worthy, and unworthy, foes!!
