I have been on Seafarer’s Rest since launch and this week’s match up is the most fun and the closest that I believe we have ever had.

PS and JS are just great opponents and we feel very evenly matched. They seem to have equal skill and pretty equal coverage re. time zones i.e. not a huge amount of PvD going on.

Unlike when we were playing in tier 1 against VS, which was pretty miserable for us (nightcapping + zerg + 100% coverage meant we were unable to compete), this tier is for me is worlds apart.

Question: will the new way of scoring mean that if we win by too much, we will move into t1? If so, how would people feel about….losing every now and again? Would that be considered an “exploit” or something? Of course I want to win, but if it means going up against the zerg again, I’d rather lose now and again to make sure the match ups continue to be fun and engaging.

ER is predicted to end the week about 77 rating points above SFR, with ER gaining some rating since the match is pretty close, and SFR losing some rating, again, because the match is pretty close. ER would have to lose by about 100k+ every week for about 3 weeks, and SFR would have to win by about 100k+ every for the same period, for you to swap places.

In other words, if you like T2, I don’t think you don’t have anything to worry about for awhile unless Anet changes the formula for rating calculations. For now, they decided to leave the rating formula alone.

I would strongly advise against trying to manipulate the system to stay in a certain tier or with a certain matchup, this only serves to introduce a kitten load of unnecessary politics into a server community resulting in it fragmenting. We humans are designed to always seek to improve ourselves purposely dumbing our selves down is an unnatural thing that more often than not will result in internal community conflict.

It starts off a good idea however a few days in people and guilds start finding that if their competent they still may win even though they aint trying not to mention not everyone on your server will agree and whatever the majority decide there will always be those like randoms who are not aware and rouge guilds that see no fun in holding back and disregard the order to the point that i spoke of above where the community get’s fragmented and hostility breaks out.
