What’s the best way to report a zoom hacker? The “report” dialog doesn’t have any applicable options — I’ve been reporting as “Scamming” for the time being.

I know we don’t want to name and shame in the forums. However, a legitimate way to report exploits such as this (with attached screenshots, etc) would be so helpful.

When you set up an arrow cart flush against the wall and then manage to hit my arrow cart on the other side of the wall in the middle of the tower, you’re definitely not playing fair.

Hi. Where was your ac? And did the tower door have a little hole above it? If so the ac shooter can fire through that hole if he’s next to the door.

I believe a dev said it’s not hacking and therefore allowed.

The issue here is that reporting zoom hacking also affects those people who have multiple monitors apparently.

And if you dont have multiple monitors, you too can set up your screen to give you the extra visibility. Play in windowed mode and simply drag the bottom of the window up, you can take it up as much as you like, the higher you go the more you can see. I’ve tried it and it is weird but if anet claim it isnt unfair then use it, it seems to be what others do.

Anet cant ban you for altering your window size or having multiple monitors, and so although it is unfair, there is nothing you can do about it.

I posted this a while ago, but as you can see the first image is a single monitor fullscreen, the second is a single monitor with the height of the window greatly reduced to produce almost 4 monitor worth of display!

The biggest offender was when someone put an arrow cart flush against the bottom of the cliff north of Bravost. With that arrow cart, they destroyed all 8 arrow carts we had scattered throughout the tower. All the targets were at least two wall heights above the arrow cart in question, and it was hitting almost to the far (south) wall of Bravost. I don’t care how many monitors you have, I don’t think you can get that kind of coverage without a zoom-out hack. Maybe I’m wrong.

I’m sure some are doing it “legitimately” (air quotes!), but I also think some are doing it with an actual zoom-out hack.

I feel like maybe arrow carts need at least a partial line of sight nerf. It would definitely be a nerf overall, but when stuff like this can happen, why even build siege? One zoom-hacked arrow cart can clear a whole tower full of siege, while never being vulnerable to return fire.

Don’t mean to sound whiny, just frustrated that hours of building up superior siege can be obliterated in a minute by one exploiting player, and apparently I can’t even report them.

You can’t do anything. You also can’t complain about it here because then people realize that nothing is being done about it.

In most cases it’s not soon hacking unless they’re somehow shooting inside hills lords room with the AC being built on the supply hut haha.

I saw a teleporting ranger the other night in PvE and went to report – no selection to report hacking – i don’t understand why i can’t report this. He was just blipping around the map like he was in the Matrix.

Yeah this is another thing that has a lot of player worked up, you can report for botting, abusing, selling gold, but not hacking. There are so many bugs in the game now an teh devs havent got around/worked out how to fix them that they are claiming that they are “working as intended” instead; and hence legitimate tactics.

What can you do when even the devs are in denial.

Its a free to play game. They don’t have the money to hire additional staff to investigate hacking allegations or program in hack detection.

......and they never will.

This is why WvW doesn’t get frequent updates. They know they can’t stop the hackers and they know people will eventually quit because of it. It’s only going to get worse.

It’s the same with griefers/trollers. Currently, there are 2 players from the opposing server on our server logging in every night to waste supplies by building a ton of useless siege to try to siege cap the map. There is no option in the reporting tool to report this. If I recall, an anet employee said that it would take a huge amount of effort coding-wise to add another option to the list and he suggested just to report them as scamming/botting/spamming/etc. However, I noticed that there is a new option in the list for “LFG abuse” which is for pve. When it comes to pve, they are willing to use resources to add a new option; however, anything wvw related is getting pushed back or ignored.

Anet condones cheating and unfair play, so it’ll never be fixed, and AC’s will never be given a line of sight nerf.

Only thing to do is abuse it yourself, no matter how dirty it is.

Just was wishing (obviously in vain) for a proper way to report it, or a line of sight nerf.

But while I’m at it, I guess I’ll keep wishing for ways to report siege griefing, proper rewards for defending and refreshing siege, and PvE-level rewards for WvW.

there is some guilds out there that support that unfortunately. i personally like fair fights and dont need stuff like this in order to win. u know how in other games that arent online games, there are sooo many cheat codes. yes sure they are fun to use, but in the end its just boring as u miss out on the feeling of accomplishment.
my guild was attacking the gate on longview and i ileaped through the gate by accident. there was a guy on an ac there. i walked up the stairs, past him and jumped back out without touching him as it was a glitch and i wouldnt wanna use it for my advantage. but thats me, some people are soo competitive that they love to exploit and grief and spy and ruin the fun for others. u know what though? u still are the one that wins in the end, maybe not by ppt, but u still win as u didnt use macros, 3rd party programs, no exploits, no glitches, u didnt grief, nor did u spy. u played the game and sure won battles without all that.
if anyone needs any kind of exploits, spies, griefers, it shows how insecure, bad and weak they are.

Woah, hold your horses man! Making suggestions which can help fix some issues can get your infracted! Be careful :P

Basically as said above, the devs are not interested in putting time into WvW, we wont see fixes or big update any time soon if at all!
We just got to live with what we got, and assume ourselves lucky for getting any updates to WvW.
As for new bugs, well why else do you think they are closing down the WvW forums, too many people complaining, it looks bad and they dont want that, that as well as the time spend moderating these forums. Again as said above they are only willing to spend resources on things they feel are right, not what the community is suggesting to them to improve the game. It’s been like that since the alpha apparently, not listening to the community.

atm its the community that keeps people playing, I only play because I like playing with my guild, it is only a matter of time that another developer makes a better game where they will listen to some of what the community says, and most people will move to those games. Hell a lot of people have already left months ago!
People will get bored of the Living Story eventually, and sooner or later people will get bored. The game needs it’s bugs fixed and an expansion by next summer, otherwise my guess is more people will leave.
