I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

So, about a year ago in a CDI thread I said~
I very much like the Dolly’s as they give me worthwhile targets when I’m out playing solo.
…That said they are way, way too easy to kill while live player defenders are present. Dolyaks need something like a 2000 point armor buff per allied player present in a radius of 1,000 or so. If three people are escorting a dolyak, it should be IDIOCY to try and hit the dolyak first. Make dealing with those human guards first a tangible priority.
Today I read~
Dolyaks have gained a new defensive ability. As long as an allied player is near the dolyak, the dolyak gains an effect called Protected Caravan. While this effect is active, the dolyak is greatly resistant to both damage and conditions. Undefended dolyak caravans are just as vulnerable as ever, but if players are escorting a dolyak, enemies are now forced to either deal with the players or spend significantly more time attacking and wearing down the dolyak to ultimately kill it.
That would be something like. I’ll take it .

where did you read that?
Very cool thanks for linking that! I specifically liked the {We’ll be back to tell you more about how we plan to apply these concepts to World vs. World as a whole, so be on the lookout between now and the launch of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.}
I knew that they said they were making more sweeping, fundamental changes to WvW not just the new Borderlands and Im definitely interested to hear those sort of things, like as you pointed out the new Doylak dynamic.
Makes me wonder if that’s only valid to players or the upgraded escort sentrys as well.
A fantastic change admist all the other terrible changes.
“At the fire keep, controlling Shrines of Fire grants the defending team the ability to transform into fiery hounds, turns on fireball-spitting gargoyle turrets, and grants immunity to burning and lava damage.”

Ermagherd, someone is immune to burning (as if that wouldn’t be already the case in any zerg that spams condi-cleanse like crazy). Sure, hard times for roamers that focus on condi-dmg, with burning as center, but then again:
DOES ONLY WORK INSIDE / CLOSE TO THE FIRE KEEP
Dunno about you, but I didn’t met that many roamers inside/next to keeps, and anything that is able to breach a keep while all 3 shrines are held by the defenders will be too big / dumb to care about a single tick of 500-600 dmg per second on random enemies.

I can just imagine owning all 3 shrines and standing in the lava field ranging others down. Pirateship meta now the fireship meta
Until 3 guys with a brain split off from the attackers, take one shrine and the pirate-ship sinks in a glorious combustion before it can reach land again…

OMG I can’t wait! Or better yet, have three of your party members take the air shrine, /dance in front of the enemy zerg, jump from a cliff and watch every one of them follow you to their death!
Yeah this dolyak defence buff will be really great. Escorting dolyaks is generally a thankless and boring job, but this buff will give a small sense of purpose for the people doing it.
Should also heavily quell or fully eliminate yak divers. I can’t count how many times a warrior comes up, pops everything to go fully immune, and just kills the yak in 5 seconds before using the greatsword to run away. Thieves can just CnD chain off one until it’s dead as well. Any spike build can usually get it down in a few seconds too. But this defensive buff will perhaps fill a bit of a niche for tankier builds, who can stay with the yak, avoid getting bursted down, and in turn keep the yak up while the guards help hurt the attacker.
The trolling potential in this map is very high. Should be interesting.
New dolyak skin/model too (at least on the new borderlands).

I saw that. I suspect animal appearance that it’s by route (and local microclimate). Some routes will be Dollys, some the new goat, and likely a third pack beast we haven’t seen yet.

My bet is on some sort of camel. Boy I’d like that!
Seems fitting given the environment .
Any idea if we’ll see this pre-Heart of Thorns like the camera changes?
protected caravan will be one of the best things to ever hit wvw. i highly anticipate it.
Would prefer that be a wvw trait you have to put points into, though.
