I recently came back to the game, i don’t have Heart of Thorns but still wanted to play again since i enjoy WvW, however i can not play at all, the lag is so bad that it’s stupid. The second i step into a fight when any zerg of 10+ people (even if its 10v1) i get horrendous amounts of lag. Just tried to join an approx 30v30 fight in EBG and it took 50 seconds to cast my first spell, after that i ran away and after another minute i started taking damage and died out of nowhere then my body teleported way back to where the fight was, and then i couldn’t even res by waypoint, the game just kicked me out eventually when i couldn’t do anything. I’ve tried it for two days now, same problem every time. Does anyone else have these problems too or does anyone know a solution if there is any.
I’m Australian so already bad ping (never had this problem before though) and i don’t have the Expac. I also don’t get these problems in any other aspect of the game. Only WvW.

With the use of tunnel software, it becomes absolutely fine (have used both battle ping, and now use WTFast). Steady 200 ping.
Perhaps get a free trial and see if that helps at all.

I’ve known of plenty of Australians who wvw without much issue, so at least there is hope it’s fixable. Higher ping won’t be fixable, but it should be playable.

Just to rule it out, what are your system specs?
- Assuming it’s definitely not that, it sounds like your ISP may need poking/changing. But definitely worth giving a VPN a try as Adam suggested first ( just because its cheaper/less permanant).

May I ask why you switched to WTFast?

I’ve been using BattlePing for a couple of years now but I’m having a really bad experience in ESO and like the OP would like to come back to GW2.

I’m playing from South Africa to EU, did you find WTFast to be more reliable?

BattlePing was becoming quite unreliable, and I was having to hop between servers every day to try and find a reliable connection. When my subscription ran out, I just tried a competitor and found it worked far better.
It also probably helps that they have a server in the same city as me.

Trying not to sound like a salesman for them and I’m sure most GW2 players aren’t in China, but practically speaking, the game is unplayable without it on.

Anyway, they all have free trials, so just pick one and have a go.

Outside of giant three way fights WvW runs pretty smooth in the states most of the time. If you are seeing massive lag, it is either as noted above where a VPN will likely help/eliminate most of the issues or you are logging on as a giant battle is raging in SMC.

from australia, would have the casual 270 ping. then whenever we clash with another zerg during prime time it would shoot up to 3000 plus ping
