I discovered the trick to getting more badges!
You can see that my previous posts were irritated at the drop rate of these things. I only ever got maybe 4-5 in hours of play. But that was when I was using dual maces and having fun locking people down.
I recently switched to a burst GS build and now I’m positively drowning in the badges. I don’t have any worries about not having enough for the next arrow cart or etc.
This makes me think that the drop rate indeed is related to the damage you do to the enemies (not always though, most of the time).
It also makes me worry about this drop rate punishing people who don’t go straight DPS.
THe drop rate definitely punishes people who don’t go straight DPS. That is why I haven’t played my support spec 80 guardian in 2 weeks. My below level 30 Engineer nets me better rewards because I can “tag” a massive amount of enemies with grenades/flamethrower, and get more credit. Am I being as useful to my team? Not even close…but the game doesn’t reward you based on how useful you are being.
Form what I know, you have to do about 2-3k damage on target (even if the target is in downed state) to get a credit for killing him and also for getting rewards. Professions that have a lot of AoE damage are getting more badges than melee professions simply because they hit more targets.

From my experience. Simply AoE doesn’t even give you a loot bag and just xp reward. Most of the time the loot doesn’t even come with badges too. You have to deal enough damage in order to get badges.
I have an idea: Why not reward folks who complete objectives/events with a badge of honor or two?
Loudmouth, lousy PvPer, and mediocre PvEer.
I don’t own, I just play

Why would you worry? Absolutely everything else about WvWvW punishes people who don’t go straight DPS, so badge drops aren’t any different.

They kind of do. When you take an area and kill the main NPC you need to kill, then the NPC can drop a badge or two. I think the one in stonemist can drop a ton.

im still not sure if its damage, kill shot, or plain luck on the badges drop from the keep lord / camp lord etc.
I think its damage since the chance of me getting badges is higher when the lord doesn’t have any invlun buff on him.
Yeah screw support you get absolutely nothing for it.
My guild caped a garrison once trough the back gate and I went there to use Wardings and prevent a zerg to kitten jam us and guess what ? I got no credit whatsoever, no xp and no karma either…
Then you might think you can get credit while supporting on defense, resin people, giving boons and healing well guess what ? You get no credit from that you need to kill kitten.
No wonder people all roll thieves this is just a brainless pew pew war. This had a lot o potential for strategy and stuff, but it’s just a big bad joke.
100% World completion.
I would still swear I get less badges the more hours I’m in WvW. Maybe it’s just that I get tired and stop doing quite so much damage, but every time I play, the first two hours I get around 10 badges, and then after that I’m lucky to get two or three more for the next five hours.
